FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Someone builds an empire that lasts three generations. Someone sees their house fall in a single game. And in the end, the game itself is never the same.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
The expansion that rewrites Oath's rules every game
Cole Wehrle returns to the world of Oath with New Foundations, the expansion that radically transforms the game experience. Illustrations by Kyle Ferrin accompany hundreds of new cards that introduce family lineage systems, dynastic intrigues, and mechanics that allow players to modify the very foundations of the game. It's not just new content: it's an evolution of the system.
You develop your household through generations, build empires that withstand the fall of kingdoms, shape the game's rules as you play. Each game modifies the chronicle in ways previous players couldn't have imagined. Quests and intrigues intertwine with negotiation and card management mechanics, while the campaign system records every choice that forever changes the shared world.
What they say abroad
New Foundations is the expansion Oath deserved: it transforms every chronicle into a story that truly belongs only to your group.
— FroGames
Cole Wehrle's courage lies in giving players the tools to rewrite the game itself. And they will.

Oath: New Foundations
The base game supports solo play, and New Foundations maintains this mode. The experience works, but it loses much of the negotiation and dynastic dynamics that shine with more players at the table. Quests and intrigues remain interesting, but the political heart of the game fades.
The tools of your household
What you'll find in the expansion
Lineage Cards
Develop your family through generations. Each member brings unique abilities that are passed down, change, or are lost. Your household has a memory that survives individual games.
Quests and Intrigues
Personal missions that intertwine your ambitions with those of other players. Some intrigues change the chronicle's rules forever. Others are resolved in a single devastating session.
Shifting Foundations
The game's system itself transforms. Players shape the basic mechanics, add new victory conditions, redefine what it means to rule. The game becomes theirs.
Hundreds of New Cards
Advisors, buildings, relics, events. Each card introduces possibilities that didn't exist before. Some are powerful. Others are traps. All make your chronicle different from any other.
After a few campaigns, you'll realize that Oath is no longer the game you bought. It has become your game.
A Five-Part Campaign
What Happens Across Generations
Not the rules. The epic.
The First Generation
Choose the founder of your house. Someone takes a powerful Lineage card, someone else a more versatile one. No one yet knows what these choices will mean ten games from now. The world is that of base Oath, but you already feel something is different.
The First Intrigue
Someone plays a Quest card that changes the victory conditions. Suddenly, the alliance that seemed solid fractures. One player betrays, another builds a building that will change the rules for the next three games. The chronicle begins to take shape.
The House Strengthens
Your family has gone through four generations. Some abilities have consolidated, others have been lost in a memorable defeat. The player to your right has an empire that seems unstoppable, but you have accumulated cards that no one has yet seen in play.
The Ultimate Betrayal
Two houses allied for six games face each other for the first time. One has played an intrigue that changed the foundations of the game. The other responds with a Quest that overturns everything. The table discovers that no alliance is forever. Someone loses everything in a single turn.
The End of the Chronicle
After twelve games, someone wins the campaign. But that's not what matters. What matters is that the game on the table no longer resembles Oath. The rules you wrote together, the cards you introduced, the foundations you modified: this is your game now.
How it integrates with Oath
The Flow of a Session with New Foundations
The expansion builds upon the base Oath system, adding phases of dynastic management and intrigue resolution.
Choose which member of your house enters the field. You apply inherited abilities, activate Lineage cards, consult the state of the chronicle. Some foundations modified by previous games already change the setup.
You play Oath as usual: move, actions, card management. But now you have access to personal Quests, intrigues to activate, buildings to construct that will modify future sessions. Every action can have consequences that last for generations.
During the turn or at specific moments, intrigues are resolved. Some change the rules for the rest of the game. Others permanently modify the chronicle. Some betrayals occur here.
The winner transmits abilities to the next generation. The loser must choose what to save from their house. You record permanent changes to the foundations. Prepare the next generation.
Why New Foundations Changes Everything
Six Systems That Redefine Oath
Family Lineages
You no longer play isolated, unrelated games. You build a dynasty that spans generations. Every victory and every defeat shapes the abilities you will inherit. Your house has a story that is written game after game.
Personal Quests
Secret or public objectives that interweave your ambitions with those of others. Some quests modify the victory conditions of the session. Others change the rules for the next three games. All create memorable moments.
Dynastic Intrigues
Betrayals, alliances, secret pacts. New Foundations' intrigues have long-term consequences. What you play today could explode five games from now, when no one expects it anymore.
Mutable Foundations
The most revolutionary system of the expansion. Players can modify the base rules of the game. Add new actions, change victory conditions, introduce mechanics that didn't exist before. The game becomes yours.
Hundreds of New Cards
Advisors, relics, buildings, events. Each card introduces unprecedented possibilities. Some are devastating in the right hands. Others seem weak until someone discovers the perfect combo. Variety ensures that no chronicle is ever the same.
Evolving Chronicles
The campaign system records every significant choice. The world changes based on who wins, who loses, which cards are played, which buildings are built. After ten games, the game on the table is unrecognizable.
How a Chronicle Ends
Dynastic Victory and the Fall of Houses
New Foundations introduces campaign victory conditions that overlap with session conditions.
Chronicle Victory
- Accumulate enough Dynasty Points through victories, completed quests, and resolved intrigues
- Your house achieves a lineage objective you chose at the beginning of the campaign
- You modify the game's foundations in such a way as to make your dynastic strategy unstoppable
Fall of the House
- You accumulate too many consecutive defeats and your family loses critical abilities
- An opposing intrigue dissolves your dynasty, forcing you to start over
- The game's foundations change in ways that make your strategy obsolete
New Foundations is for those who want Oath to become their game. Not a game that repeats itself, but a chronicle that grows, mutates, transforms with every session.
