🐸 HOW TO PLAY
The race to the South Pole
In 1911: Amundsen vs. Scott, two players relive the historic expedition to the South Pole. One leads Amundsen's Norwegian team, the other Scott's British team: two different routes, the same goal: to be the first to plant the flag in the eternal snow.
A bunch of possibilities
The heart of the game is the shared deck of cards. Each turn, you can draw cards from the visible row, paying with discards if you want more, or play them to advance your path, hinder your opponent, or activate special effects that can turn the tide.
To advance or hinder
Each card corresponds to a color on the track: playing them moves you closer to the South Pole, but you can also use them to disorient your opponent or exploit unexpected events. The tension builds with each turn, as the distance gets closer and closer.
Time as an enemy
The game ends immediately if an explorer reaches the South Pole. But beware: if the deck runs out twice before anyone arrives, both expeditions fail, and the Antarctic freeze engulfs everyone.
Expansions included
The box also offers variants that expand replayability: Patrons with unique powers, 1912 The Way Back which adds the challenge of returning, Damned Weather! with the weather die that introduces the risk factor, and Food Depots with pre-planned supplies to better manage survival.

The hand management and open-drawing mechanics make each turn a strategic puzzle, where you have to choose whether to advance, hinder your opponent, or use special abilities.
This edition includes 4 mini-expansions (1912: The Return, Cursed Weather!, Patrons and Food Depots), which add depth, variability and new challenges , to make every game different.

Each match is a subtle melee, where you have to weigh every card, read your opponent, and act at the right time . It's fast, but not trivial; elegant, but never cold.
We really appreciated the narrative feel, the fast pace, and the variations offered by the expansions. In particular, "The Return" adds a remarkable strategic twist , transforming a desperate race into an epic odyssey.
The pocket-sized format makes it perfect to take anywhere, but inside there is all the greatness of the original challenge .
If you're looking for a two-player game that combines tension, setting, and simplicity , 1911 is a journey worth taking. And sharing.
