The Detroit factory comes to life
In Motor City , you're the manager of an automotive plant in Detroit's golden age. On two personal profiles, you'll develop production lines, innovations, and specialized departments, balancing efficiency and profits.
Eight rounds of management
The game lasts eight rounds. At the start of a round, colored dice are rolled and projects are placed on the table according to their value and color. Players take turns choosing a die and using it to advance on a track or activate an action. After each player has made two choices, everyone can use the remaining die.
Interconnected paths
Each area of the board is a track that brings bonuses, points, or new opportunities. Advancing in engineering, testing, logistics, or sales not only grants immediate progress, but also unlocks combinations that strengthen other sections, creating an increasingly efficient production engine.
Strategic choices and combinations
Each die represents a compromise between opportunities and constraints: the color indicates the section of the factory, the number determines the available options. Planning the sequence well and taking advantage of the linked bonuses is the key to maximizing points.
The race for the final score
After eight rounds, the points earned in the various departments of the factory are tallied. The winner is the one who has managed to grow their plant the most, transforming Detroit into the capital of automotive progress.

Motor City is a strategic roll & write board game for 1-5 players , set in the golden age of the American automobile industry.
Players use two personal sheets filled with interconnected tracks to manage every aspect of the factory: from engineering to assembly, from testing to marketing . Each round is based on the choice and use of colored dice , which activate different zones and create ever-new combinations.
The game lasts eight rounds , during which you build your optimal production line, unlock bonuses, and prepare the final twist. The system is both accessible and rewarding, with a steep progression curve and truly important decisions to make at every turn.
It also includes a full-fledged solitaire mode, with an auditor who simulates real-world choices and tests your efficiency.
Motor City is part of Motor City Gameworks’ “Loaded Roll and Write” trilogy (along with Fleet: The Dice Game and Three Sisters ), but it also shines beautifully on its own .
We played it, and it made us spin the dice like cogs 🐸
We weren't expecting so much strategy on two sheets of paper and a handful of dice , but Motor City turned our expectations upside down.
Every action creates chain reactions , every track is a race against time, every turn is a little puzzle to be solved with coolness and vision.
We loved the increasing depth , the balance between freedom and limitations, and the satisfaction of finishing a game feeling like you've truly "built something."
Solo mode is solid , competitive, and challenging, even for experienced players. In a group, however, it offers quiet tension and challenges for true engineers.
A perfect title for those looking for a roll & write that doesn't end in 15 minutes , but offers depth, theme, and a strategic engine that runs wonderfully.
