🍂 Pilgrims: Curious Adventures – A board game based on an illustrated fairy tale

From the artistic genius of Radim Jurda and the collaboration between Amanita Design and Pink Troubadour

Pilgrims: Curious Adventures isn’t just a game: it’s a journey. An adventure born from the same surreal imagery as Machinarium and Botanicula , and brings to the table that delicacy that only Amanita Design can evoke. Pink Troubadour , the Czech studio that has already signed titles such as Galileo Galilei: Moon and Forestry , He transformed it into a family and narrative board game where the journey itself is the goal.

🌾 A world that seems drawn with a pencil

Set in a land straight out of a medieval storybook, Pilgrims puts you in the shoes of a curious wanderer. There are no battles or conflicts, but encounters, puzzles and combinations of objects to be solved with ingenuity. The goal is to experience as many adventures as possible, collecting memories, tools, and travel companions that will help you tell the most memorable stories.

Every game is different, as if it were an improvised story told by a campfire. The rules themselves are designed to be intuitive and sensorial: the icons not only explain the rules, but convey emotion. It is an adventure and puzzle board game , but also a small artistic experiment in visual storytelling.

🎨 Radim Jurda – The Artist Who Brought Amanita to the Table

A graduate of Interactive Arts in Brno, Radim Jurda is a name that Amanita fans know well: is the mind and hand behind Creaks and the original Pilgrims video game. His art is recognizable by the use of analog textures and imperfect lines that evoke a fragile and poetic world. When he decided to adapt Pilgrims into a board game, he wanted to retain the freedom of digital and the unpredictability of the encounter.

Everything, from the cards to the objects, was first drawn on paper and then refined digitally, with the aim of creating a tactile experience: the game looks like an illustrated board, but it plays like a miniature journey.

✨ Curiosities that few know

  • 🦉 Solo mode against the Hawk : the official rules include a solo challenge against an automated opponent – a hawk that steals cards and hinders your adventures.
  • 🎭 Double-reading Items : Each Item card can have multiple interpretations – a fish can be both food and a narrative key to a secret event.
  • 🧭 Circular structure : after four rounds, the map closes in on itself like a picture book: the journey ends exactly where it began, but with different eyes.
  • 🌸 Unique Authorial Collaboration : Pink Troubadour oversaw the mechanics to make them light yet elegant, keeping Amanita's poetry intact. The same team then brought to the table contemplative titles like Pondscape .

🔥 A short trip, but one that remains in the memory

Pilgrims: Curious Adventures is a family board game of adventure and discovery, Designed for those who love titles that make you dream without complicating things. It combines art, light strategy and visual storytelling in a rare balance: that between game and poetry. After every game you will remember not only who won, but what you experienced along the way .
