What it's about
Shipwrecked in space, with six modules and a plan
ROVE is a solo space puzzle from Button Shy, designed by Dustin Dobson and Milan Zivkovic. You are a ROVE — Results-Oriented Versatile Explorer — crashed on an unknown planet at the edge of the galaxy.
To get back to safety, you must reconfigure your six reusable modules, arranging them in the exact pattern required by each anomaly. Each module moves in its own way: some diagonally, some pushing others one space. Moving them costs Movement Points, which you gain by discarding cards from your hand.

TACTICAL MOVEMENT ALGORITHMS
At the heart of ROVE is a Spatial Puzzle Management system. It's not just about playing cards, but about manipulating a physical grid of 6 Module cards. Each Mission card requires a specific geometric configuration (e.g., the Laser module adjacent to the Engine, or in an L-shaped formation). The player must spend Movement Points from their hand to move the modules around the 3x2 grid, but be careful: each card used for movement means one less card available to activate the modules' special abilities.

Pattern Matching
Replicate the geometric shapes required by the Mission cards by moving the modules in the grid.
Hand Management
Movement cards are your currency. Do you use them for movement or for their powerful discard effects?
Modular Skills
Each part of the robot has a unique power (push, jump, switch) that can be activated by spending Energy.
Grid Movement
Movement is limited and spatial. Calculate your trajectories so you don't get stuck.
Resource Management
The Energy track is vital. Recharging requires completing specific missions.
Variability Expansions
Includes extra modules and environmental threats that alter the basic movement rules.
