Pairs well with
Prey: Are you the predator or the prey? A double-sided game of catch.
In Prey, the cards have two sides. And you have two roles. In this trick-taking board game for 3-4 players, you'll face 12 rounds in which you'll have to cleverly plan every card. In the first half of the game, you're the predator: attack, dominate, capture. In the second half, however, the cards turn over and everything changes. Now you're the prey.
Each player receives a secret goal (how many tricks to take), determined by rolling the dice. Whoever manages to reach it twice wins. But it won't be that simple: the backs of the cards you play today will be the visible sides tomorrow, and every decision must be made with the future in mind.
🦊 Why Prey is a little gem to play and replay:
- Double-sided cards with an original strategic twist
- A fast-paced and never banal game of trick-taking
- Every game is different thanks to the initial dice roll
- Quick rules but with a lot of hidden depth
- Perfect for 3-4 players , it lasts only 20-30 minutes
Prey is the kind of clever, mean card game that surprises you on the second turn, when you realize you were setting up your own doom. It takes just a few minutes to explain, but it gets more synapses going than meets the eye. And Sai Beppu's illustrations are a small, minimalist masterpiece. A must-have 🐸

🐸 HOW TO PLAY
1. Prepare your hand... with a double side to play.
In this strategic trick-taking board game , each card has two numbered sides : one representing the Predators , the other the Prey . Players begin the game with one side of their hand covered, but know that in the second half of the round they will play with the other side of the same cards.
2. Play the first six tricks as a Predator.
The game is played over 12 hands: in the first six tricks , players play with the cards facing up (Predator). Suit must be followed if possible , as in any classic trick-taking game . The order of the tricks and the wise use of the cards already begin to shape the ending.
3. Turn over the cards and face the second half as Prey.
Once the initial six tricks are completed, players turn over the remaining cards in their hands to play with the Prey side. The cards are the same, but now with different values and suits , which adds tactical depth and forces you to plan both halves of the game from the start .
4. The goal is to win a specific number of tricks.
At the start of the game, each player rolls a die to determine how many tricks they must win in that round. If they manage to get exactly that number of tricks (neither more nor less), they win the round. The first player to do so twice wins the game.
5. Prey is pure tension in pocket format.
The choices are simple, but loaded with consequences: when to lose, when to win, when to take risks . Prey is a portable, elegant, and surprisingly deep card game for 3-4 players , ideal for those who love trick-taking games with a clever twist.

Prey
First you chase, then you run away. But it's always you. And that's the problem.
One deck, two sides, twelve tricks and a tension that changes face halfway through the game
Prey – The game of catch that turns (literally) upside down
In the realm of survival, everything can change in an instant . First you're predator. Then you're prey.
Prey is a trick-taking card game for 3-4 players that flips the rules mid-game , forcing you to rethink your entire strategy.
You play the first six hands with one side of the deck. Then you turn the cards over… and face the final six with completely different values.
To win, it's not enough to take more tricks: you have to take exactly the ones assigned to you by the dice. Twice.
Elegant, cruel, minimal, Prey is a subtle struggle of psychology and control , where timing is everything.
Prey – Trick-taking card game with double-sided mechanics
Prey is a board game for 3-4 players based on capture and hand management mechanics, with a unique feature: each card has two number sides.
During the first six tricks you play on the “predator” side, then you turn your hand and continue as the “prey”.
The twist? Points aren't scored by adding up the tricks, but by hitting the target rolled at the beginning of the round exactly. Twice, to win.
Minimal in length (20-30 minutes), but brilliantly sharp , Prey is an excellent choice for those looking for a compact but punchy game , also ideal in more casual contexts but with real players at the table.

We played it… and it made us sweat 12 hands 🐸
There's something incredibly fascinating about this Prey . The first six hands fly by, then... everything turns around, and you realize that the hand that seemed great before is now a nightmare.
The dice prediction system forces you to play with surgical attention. We liked it because it forces you to think ahead and bluff at the right time , but without ever losing your rhythm.
A title that really surprised us. We've added it to our favorites for casual evenings with gamers looking for something small, beautiful, and gritty.
