The FroGames Card
You've just placed a crew on the Scientific Ship. The research you unlock now will change your next three moves. Across the table, someone votes for a Paradigm that no one wanted. The board flips over.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Knowledge and faith in the Voidfall universe
This expansion for Revenant introduces two independent modules developed by Robin Hegedűs and illustrated by Ian O'Toole. Set in the dark Voidfall universe, it adds strategic layers to the base game without overcomplicating its flow.
The Reason module brings neutral Scientific Ships where you conduct Research and turn planetary discoveries into permanent advantages that support your strategy. The Faith module introduces Paradigms: each round, Houses face collective choices that can flip the game for everyone. You can use them separately or together.
What they say abroad
"The base game is officially finished and set in stone, with the rulebook currently at the proofreader, and we have moved on to finalizing the Reason & Faith expansion."
The base game is officially complete, the rulebook is being proofread, and we have begun to finalize the Reason & Faith expansion.
— Mindclash Games
Reason and Faith is the expansion we asked for without knowing it: an already dense game that still finds room to grow without imploding. The modules speak different languages but work. Research rewards those who plan, Paradigms punish those who ignore the table.

Revenant: Reason and Faith
The expansion supports the official solo mode of the base game. Paradigms in solo function through an automatic voting system by the automa, while Research integrates without modifications: the experience is enriched but loses the implicit negotiation that makes Paradigms memorable at a full table.
The two modules
What they add to the base game
Scientific Ships (Reason)
Neutral worker placement spots where you conduct Research and turn planetary discoveries into permanent advantages that support your strategy. Upgrades remain for the entire game.
Paradigms (Faith)
Each round the Great Houses face an emerging collective decision; players influence the outcome with their actions. The final choice can change the game state for everyone.
Modularity
The two modules can be added separately or together. Reason if you want more engine optimization, Faith if you want political tension, both if you want a deeper Revenant.
28 cards
The expansion includes 28 cards in the standard 63×88 mm format: Research cards, Paradigms, and support for the new systems. Additional components according to the chosen configuration.

How to play
The flow of each round with active modules
The expansion integrates with the base game's engine: it adds worker placement options and an implicit voting system.
In addition to the House ships and the Revenant, you can now place workers on neutral Science Vessels to conduct Research. Each placement choice also influences the vote on Paradigms.
Your actions during the round influence the outcome of the collective decision on the Paradigm in play. You don't vote directly: your moves speak for you.
You transform knowledge gained from planetary discoveries and corruption containment into permanent advantages that modify your engine for the rest of the game. Upgrades remain.
The final decision on the Paradigm can significantly overturn the game state for everyone. Scoring conditions, resources, alliances: everything can change. All together.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table with active modules
Not the rules. The experience.
Asymmetric setup
In addition to the House boards, you must now place the neutral Science Vessels and draw the first Paradigms. The table is fuller, the options doubled. Someone is already planning which Research to unlock first.
The first silent vote
No one speaks openly, but everyone is watching the Paradigm in play. Your actions count double: for you and to influence the collective choice. Someone is rowing in the opposite direction from you. The board hasn't changed yet, but the tension has.
Permanent engine vs changing table
You've unlocked two researches. Your engine runs better than before, but on the other side, someone has just passed a Paradigm that overturns the scoring conditions. You have to recalculate everything. Mid-game, zero certainties.
The Paradigm you'll remember
Last round of voting. The result can decide who wins. Everyone pushes in opposite directions, no one has enough influence to control it alone. When the die is cast, someone curses. It's the moment you'll tell later.
Layered scoring
You count the base game points, then add completed researches and bonuses/penalties from resolved Paradigms. The final ranking is different from what you expected mid-game. The expansion worked: the game grew without breaking.

Good to know beforehand
Three things a friend would tell you
This is an expansion, not standalone. You must own Revenant and have played it at least 2-3 times to understand where these modules fit in. If you don't know the base game, adding them immediately is a mistake.
The Faith module shines when there are more players pulling the vote in different directions. With 2 players, it loses political bite. If you often play with a partner, Reason is the most useful module.
The new systems don't weigh down individual turns, but they lengthen the game because they expand the decision space. If your group already struggles with the 2 hours of the base game, consider if it's really necessary.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose (with modules)
The base game's victory conditions remain, but the expansion adds new scoring paths and ways to overturn others' plans.
Additional victory paths
- Complete Research lines that give end-game points and synergies with base objectives
- Influence Paradigms in a direction that benefits you (or damages you less than others)
- Combine the permanent advantages of Research with your Frigate's engine to scale speed
How they trick you
- Ignore the Paradigms in play: someone will pass them anyway, and you will suffer the consequences
- Invest too much in Research and lose speed on the main Revenant board
- Don't adapt when a Paradigm overturns the conditions: your Plan A no longer works
Reason and Faith is not the expansion that makes Revenant easier. It's the one that makes it bigger and less predictable. If the base game feels too small for you, this is the next step.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Revenant: Reason and Faith
Do I have to use both modules or can I choose one?
The two modules can be added separately. Reason is more pure engine-building, Faith is more political and unpredictable. Choose based on what your group is looking for, or use both if you want the full version of Revenant.
How much does it complicate the base game?
It adds strategic complexity, not rules complexity. The mechanics integrate with the worker placement you already know, but they expand the decision space. If your group is well-versed in the base game, the expansion is a natural step. If you're still on the learning curve, wait.
Does it work well solo?
The Reason module integrates seamlessly: Research enriches optimization against the automa. The Faith module loses its bite because Paradigms are designed for multi-player tension. Solo, it's better to use only Reason or accept that Faith is more mechanical.
What mechanics does Revenant: Reason and Faith use?
Worker placement with neutral spaces (Science Vessels), resource acquisition to convert into permanent upgrades, implicit voting system through actions (Paradigms), collective asymmetrical effects that modify the game state. It integrates with Area Majority and Hidden Victory Points from the base game.
Is it available in Italian?
The edition for sale is in English. Mindclash Games publishes its games primarily in English; localizations (when they arrive) are managed by third-party publishers and announced later. Check the publisher's website for updates on any localized editions.
