Viticulture: Bordeaux Expansion

Stonemaier Games announces Viticulture: Bordeaux Expansion for 2026. The new expansion introduces a French board with actions over 4 seasons, a face-up card market, the new 'Expert' action to enhance moves, and a final scoring system for remaining resources.

It's January 2026, and Jamey Stegmaier has just unveiled the next big thing for wine lovers: Viticulture: Bordeaux Expansion . After exploring Tuscany, the Rhine Valley, and even the entire world in co-op, Stonemaier Games finally takes us to France, to the prestigious Bordeaux region.

This new expansion promises to shake things up (literally and metaphorically), offering an experience that offers a fresh alternative to the classic board game, introducing new mechanics and a renewed level of strategic depth.

One New Board, Four Complete Seasons

The heart of this expansion is undoubtedly the new game board . Unlike the base game, where actions are mainly concentrated in summer and winter, Bordeaux extends worker placement to all four seasons . Each season will offer specific opportunities, forcing players to plan their worker flow even more carefully throughout the year.

Expert Action and the Open Market

Among the most exciting new features is the new "Expert" action . This mechanic allows players to use special cubes to permanently enhance an action on their board, creating a sense of asymmetric progression and specialization unique to each game.

Furthermore, the expansion addresses one of the base game's long-standing criticisms: the randomness of card drawing. Bordeaux introduces a face-up card market for grape varieties and wine orders. You no longer have to rely on the deck's blind luck: you can now strategically choose which grape variety to plant or which order to fulfill, making long-term planning much more rewarding.

End Game and Compatibility

The endgame gets a touch of elegance with a resource conversion system. Leftover grapes, wine, and coins can be converted into Victory Points, ensuring that every productive effort is rewarded, even if you fail to complete the last order.

The expansion has been confirmed to be compatible with most modules from previous expansions (such as Tuscany), allowing veterans to mix and match their favorite elements. Naturally, a new Automa deck for solo play, designed by veteran Morten Monrad Pedersen, is also included.

Viticulture: Bordeaux Expansion will be available directly from the Stonemaier store starting January 21, 2026, with shipments scheduled for February. Grab your glasses, the French grape harvest is about to begin.
