Non le regole. La tensione.
Il cielo è già pieno
Hai scelto la città, costruito i cieli, sistemato la nave madre in cima. Cinque dadi nel palmo, il bunker pronto sotto i tuoi piedi. Lei è lassù, immobile. Per ora.
Il dado che ti tradisce
Ti serve un 6 per far correre la ricerca. Ma quel 6 fa precipitare la nave aliena di sei caselle, dritta verso la tua città. Prendere o lasciare? Decidi tu — non c'è nessun altro a cui dare la colpa.
Una nave sfonda
Non sei riuscito ad abbatterla in tempo. Colpisce la città, il bunker incassa un danno. Hai pochi scudi e l'invasione è appena cominciata. Il respiro si fa corto.
Il re-roll della disperazione
Piazzi il dado bianco sapendo che farà ritirare tutti gli altri. Un solo lancio tra la salvezza e il disastro. Trattieni il fiato, copri il tabellone con lo sguardo, e lasci andare i dadi.
L'ultima ricerca
Il segnalino tocca la cima della traccia mentre la nave madre è a un passo dal teschio. Ce l'hai fatta per un soffio. Rimetti tutto a posto e stai già pensando di alzare la difficoltà.
Come si gioca
Il flusso di ogni round
Quattro passaggi rapidi che si ripetono. Si impara in quindici minuti, si padroneggia molto più lentamente.
Ogni round lanci cinque dadi: tre grigi e due bianchi. Tocca a te decidere il destino della città assediata.
Metti un dado per colonna nelle stanze del bunker. Numero alto = effetto potente, ma le navi di quella colonna scendono di altrettante caselle.
Produci energia, avanzi la ricerca, spari con i caccia, blocchi le rotte con la contraerea. Intanto gli alieni calano verso di te.
A fine round la nave madre scende di un livello. Più si avvicina al teschio in fondo al cielo, più sei vicino alla sconfitta.

Sei idee che fanno la differenza
Il dilemma del dado
Il numero che ti serve è anche quello che ti condanna: un dado alto ti dà di più, ma avvicina gli alieni alla stessa velocità. Ogni piazzamento è una scelta che fa male.
Tensione che non molla
La nave madre scende a ogni round, senza eccezioni. Non esiste una fase di respiro: la pressione cresce dal primo dado all'ultimo.
Il tabellone è il tema
La plancia si sviluppa in verticale: il cielo in alto, la città in basso. Vedi letteralmente l'invasione precipitare verso di te, casella dopo casella.
Difficoltà su misura
Giri le tessere cielo per alzare la sfida una tacca alla volta. Dal primo approccio al brain-burner estremo, decidi tu quanto soffrire.
Una campagna che riempie la scatola
Quattro capitoli, una decina di partite, città con poteri unici e personaggi con abilità speciali. Più di metà della scatola è dedicata alla campagna.
Il re-roll a doppio taglio
Piazzare un dado bianco fa ritirare tutti gli altri. Può salvarti da un tiro pessimo o trasformarlo in catastrofe. Arma e trappola nello stesso gesto.

Un gioco solo in solitario può davvero tenere incollati?
Sì, ed è proprio il suo punto di forza. Under Falling Skies è nato come gioco solitario: niente automa da gestire, niente intelligenza artificiale finta. La tensione la crea il sistema stesso — la nave madre che scende e i dadi che ti mettono sempre davanti a un compromesso. È tra i solitari più giocati al mondo per un motivo.
Non diventa ripetitivo dopo qualche partita?
È la critica più onesta che gli si possa muovere. Una singola partita dura 20–40 minuti e l'arco è simile. Ma tessere modulari, città con poteri diversi, difficoltà regolabile e campagna in quattro capitoli cambiano ogni volta le carte in tavola. Chi cerca un puzzle da rigiocare a sessioni brevi lo adora; chi vuole una storia sempre nuova potrebbe stancarsi prima.
Quanto è difficile da imparare?
Poco. Il regolamento è costruito come un tutorial: ti fa giocare la prima partita nella forma più semplice e aggiunge elementi solo dopo. In circa 15 minuti sei operativo. La profondità arriva dalle decisioni, non dalla mole di regole.
C'è una vera campagna o solo partite singole?
Entrambe. Puoi giocare missioni singole quando hai venti minuti, oppure affrontare la campagna: quattro capitoli, una decina di partite collegate, con scenari, città e personaggi che si sbloccano strada facendo. Più di metà del contenuto della scatola è dedicato alla campagna.
Posso regolare la difficoltà?
Sì, in modo molto preciso. Giri una o più tessere cielo sul lato più minaccioso per alzare la sfida una tacca alla volta. E se perdi, puoi rigiocare la città "danneggiata" con un potere più forte. Si adatta sia ai principianti sia a chi cerca il brain-burner.
È disponibile in italiano?
Questa è l'edizione inglese di Czech Games Edition. Il gioco è guidato soprattutto da icone e simboli, ma regolamento, scenari e testi della campagna sono in inglese. Se l'inglese non ti spaventa, è perfetta così com'è.

1 Each turn you roll dice and assign them to rooms in your underground base to gather resources, build robots, or develop research.
2 The value of the die determines the power of the action but also the speed with which the enemy spaceships descend towards your base.
3 You can take down spaceships by placing dice in defense rooms or creating robots that enhance future actions.
4 You have to balance the risk between landing ships too quickly and getting more effective actions.
5 You win if you can complete the research track before your base is destroyed or the mothership reaches the surface!
