FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
One drives Grendizer, another calls the Eagle Patrol, everyone hopes Earth holds on for one more turn.
What it's about
Italy's most beloved robot returns to the table, and Earth is once again in danger
Fifty years ago, UFO Robot Grendizer captivated a generation. Today, Yann Uhart and Clément Seurat, with illustrations by Alexis Tallone, bring Duke Fleed and his giant robot directly to the gaming table — in an Italian edition thanks to Ghenos Games.
King Vega has sent his Space Monsters to strategic locations on Earth: the White Woods Ranch, the Research Center, Tokyo, and the Military Port. Each turn, the Threat grows, the Golgoths advance, and time runs out. Play your Action cards, move Grendizer, call the Eagle Patrol — and keep Earth safe until victory.
Accessible in minutes and tense until the last turn, it's a family cooperative game that works solo or with up to four players, with two difficulty levels to challenge anyone who sits at the table.
The gaming experience
A cooperative game where every card played feels like an attack in an episode of the series — Screw Crusher Punch, Backhand Missile, Double Harken. The theme isn't decoration: it's the engine.
The secret of Grendizer XperienZ in one line
Setup in five minutes, rules explained in as many — but the pressure of the Threat track will make you feel like everything depends on the next card.
From the game experience
UFO Robot Goldrake XperienZ
Duke Fleed alone against the invasion — the pressure of the Threat track is fully felt. A complete and satisfying experience for fans of the series.
Your arsenal
What you control in each game
Grendizer
The giant robot that only Duke Fleed can pilot. Move it on the board and unleash the series' most iconic attacks: Screw Crusher Punch, Backhand Missile, Double Harken.
The Eagle Patrol
Koji, Hikaru, and Maria — the three allied aircraft that can intervene with dedicated Action cards to support Grendizer in critical moments.
50 Action cards
The heart of the game: each turn, choose which card to play to move, attack, or power up. The right hand at the right time can save Earth.
12 unique Golgoths
Each Space Monster has a different special power. You never know which one will arrive — and the surprise can turn the entire game around in one turn.
That feeling of always being on the brink of disaster, but making it at the last minute — that's exactly what it was like watching it as a child.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The board is set, the Golgoths are lurking
Setup in five minutes — Ranch, Center, Tokyo, and Military Port are there, vulnerable. The Threat track is at zero, but everyone knows it won't stay that way for long. One player decides who pilots Grendizer, another handles the Patrol. The game hasn't even begun and planning is already underway.
The first saucers land, the Threat rises
The first Golgoth enters play — it has a special power nobody expected. Saucers take up positions in strategic locations. Grendizer moves, the Screw Crusher Punch is used, the threat is eliminated. But the Threat track has already advanced two steps. It starts to become clear how serious this game is.
An Event card changes everything
The Threat track reaches Hydargos' symbol — an Event card is drawn. Its effect overturns the turn's plan. Tokyo is now under pressure from two sides simultaneously. Someone says, "we need to split up." Someone else disagrees. The discussion at the table is already intense.
Third Golgoth — and the Earth truly trembles
With three Golgoths on the board, the pressure is constant. Grendizer can't be everywhere. Every Action card is played with surgical precision. One misplacement and a strategic location falls. Adrenaline is at its peak: it feels exactly like an episode of the series, that sense of "can we do this?"
The fourth Golgoth defeated — Earth is saved
The last Action card played takes down the fourth Golgoth. Everyone cheers. Everything is packed away with laughter, already recounting that move from the third turn. The solo player no longer feels alone. The family stops yawning. Someone says: "Next time I want to try the hard level."
How to play
The flow of each turn
Three quick, repeating phases. Learn in five minutes, suffer throughout the game.
Draw an Action card from the deck and set it aside. Then move Vega's forces: move the saucers to strategic locations and place the Minidiscs on the board according to the card's instructions.
The Threat track advances one step for each group of saucers present in a strategic location. If it reaches Hydargos' symbol, draw an Event card and apply its effect immediately.
Use the accumulated Action cards: move Grendizer on the board, activate his iconic attacks, or call the Eagle Patrol. Even without cards, you can always move Grendizer one space.
If you have destroyed the fourth Golgoth, Earth is saved — you win. If the Threat track reaches Game Over, Vega has triumphed. There are no half-measures: either you defend everything or you lose everything.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
Inexorable Threat track
Every group of saucers in strategic locations advances the Threat. There's no relaxing turn — the pressure always mounts, and Game Over is always closer than it seems.
12 Golgoths with unique powers
Every Space Monster has a different special ability. You never know which one will arrive — and its power can completely change the turn's tactics from the moment it's revealed.
Iconic attacks as Action cards
Screw Crusher Punch, Backspin Saucer, Double Harken: each of Grendizer's attacks becomes a card to be played at the right moment. The theme isn't just scenic — it's literally the game system.
The Eagle Patrol as a tactical resource
Alcorak, Vénusiak, and Fossoirak aren't just decorations: they are allied aircraft that you can activate with cards to intervene in strategic locations where Grendizer can't arrive in time.
Unpredictable Event cards
When the Threat reaches Hydargos' face, an Event card with an immediate effect is drawn. It can overturn the turn's plan in an instant — and not always negatively.
Two calibrated difficulty levels
The easy level is designed for those new to cooperative games. The hard level challenges even experienced players — same game, completely different tension.
How it ends
Save Earth or surrender to Vega
There are no victory points or rankings: either Earth survives or it falls. It's a cooperative in the purest sense.
Victory — Earth is saved
- Destroy the fourth Golgoth before the Threat track reaches Game Over
- All players win together — no individual scores
- At the difficult level, victory is much rarer and much more satisfying
Defeat — Vega has triumphed
- The Threat track reaches the Game Over space
- A strategic location falls and the Threat can no longer be contained
- Everything is packed away and replayed — the reset is as quick as the setup
UFO Robot Grendizer XperienZ is one of the few games that manages to be both a faithful tribute to a historic series and a genuinely tense modern cooperative game. Perfect for those who loved Grendizer — and for those discovering it for the first time through the game board.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about UFO Robot Grendizer XperienZ
Is it worth it even for those unfamiliar with Grendizer?
Yes, but the value changes. Those unfamiliar with the series will find a solid, accessible, and tense cooperative family game with clear mechanics and quick matches. Those who grew up with Grendizer, however, experience something different: every card played is an attack from the series, every Golgoth is a memory. Here, the theme isn't just decoration — it's an integral part of the experience.
Is it really difficult or suitable for beginners?
The easy level is designed for novices: minimal rules, quick setup, and even the first game flows smoothly. But it's not trivial — the Threat track creates constant pressure from the second turn. The difficult level is another story: it challenges even those familiar with cooperative games. It's a game that scales well in complexity.
How many players does it work best with?
With 3–4 players, you get the most engaging experience: the tactical discussion at the table is part of the fun, and Grendizer truly feels like a collective effort. Solo, it's surprisingly complete — the pressure is felt even more without anyone to share decisions with. With 2 players, there's a good balance between coordination and tension.
How long does a game last?
About 30 minutes once the rules are learned. Setup takes 5 minutes, explanation another 5–10. It's a perfect game for a family evening without taking up the entire night, or for a quick session between two longer games.
Is the Italian edition complete or are there missing contents?
The Italian edition distributed by Ghenos Games is complete: rulebook in Italian, all components from the original version, and the Grendizer figurine included in the box. No missing content compared to the original French edition.
Can it be played multiple times or does it become repetitive?
Replayability is guaranteed by the 12 Golgoths with different powers — you never know what order they'll appear in — and by the Event cards that introduce unpredictable situations every game. Adding the second difficulty level, sessions can be very different from each other. It's not infinite, but for a family game of this format, it's more than sufficient.
