The FroGames Review
Draw cards and watch the others. Three clans on the table, two in your hand. Do you build or do you march? Wait for the last card or take it now? And meanwhile, someone has already won a battle you didn't know they were preparing.
WHAT IT IS
Forge alliances and build wonders in an ancient world inhabited by animal clans
Designed by the trio S J Macdonald, Shem Phillips, and Zach Smith for Garphill Games, Spirited is a card-driven civilization game set in an ancient world populated by clans of anthropomorphic animals. Illustrations by Patri Balanovsky, Mihajlo Dimitrievski, and Sam Phillips bring to life an evocative universe where bears, wolves, foxes, and other peoples fight for dominance.
At the table, you manage a hand of clan cards that you use to march with armies, build wonders, and fight battles. Each card has multiple uses: you can play it for its action, discard it for resources, or keep it to strengthen your alliances. Three Passing of Time cards in the deck mark the rhythm toward the final battle, where the player who has accumulated the most spirit wins the game.
What they say abroad
"From the halls of history comes a familiar tale of brave warriors fighting to leave their mark."
— Garphill Games
An alliance system that rewards those who read the table and anticipate others' moves.

Spirited
The game includes an official solo mode in the base rules. It functions as a score challenge against increasing objectives, without a true automa. The experience is valid for training your mechanics, but it lacks the competitive tension of battles against human opponents.
Your tools
Four elements that make up every turn
Clan Cards
Each card has three possible uses: play it for the clan action, discard it to obtain resources, or keep it in hand to strengthen an alliance. Each choice closes the other two doors.
Battles
Collective moments where all players contribute with cards from their hand. Whoever has invested the most spirit in the winning clan gains points, but wasting resources on lost battles costs dearly.
Wonders
Permanent structures that provide spirit points and special abilities. They cost specific resources and are built slowly, but those who complete them gain lasting advantages until the end.
Passing of Time
Three hidden cards in the deck that, when drawn, advance the time track. The third card triggers the final battle. No one knows when it will arrive: those who built too slowly pay the price.

FORTUNE FAVORS THE BOLD
The Subtle Art of Risk
Manage the boundaries of your kingdom without being overwhelmed
Every turn is a decision charged with tension. Factions relentlessly flow onto your Road, and deciding to expand your borders will require clinical timing and nerves of steel.
Leaving too many troops exposed means tremendous danger: just drawing the wrong clans can collapse your strategies in an instant. Yet, risking one more step allows you to prepare devastating combos for decisive turns.
Amidst fiercely contested alliances, asymmetric abilities, and pitched battles triggered by the passage of time, you'll need to maintain a maniacal balance between aggressive expansion, hand dominance, and the erection of historic monuments.
Where it rewards you
🎯 Perfect timing
You exploit the ability of an exact clan when the opponent thought they were safe.
🦅 Unified tribes
You find the perfect harmony between different species fighting united for your victory.
🏅 Immortal glory
You unlock a medal in a key faction, guaranteeing insurmountable passive advantages.
⏳ Reading the time
You trigger a battle knowing you have the majority, forcing others to retreat.
🌪þ Controlled chaos
You retrieve cards from the collapsing Road, transforming a threat into pure power.
🏰 Supreme builder
You wisely spend cards to erect a Wonder that turns the tide of the conflict.
Where it challenges you
Spirited is a board game that will test your tactical reading ability and ruthless risk management. This innovative card game by Shem Phillips shines with intense interaction, forcing you to constantly recalculate your moves. Every choice you make alters the balance of the table, offering tense and brilliant challenges, perfect for those who love the unique style of Garphill Games.
