FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Fingers slide over vehicles, the brain searches for the exit. The other player is faster. They block you. You restart. And when you finally free your car, you're already standing up cheering.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
The classic Rush Hour traffic jam becomes a direct challenge for two
Rush Hour Duel takes the DNA of Nob Yoshigahara's famous puzzle and transforms it into a head-to-head race. Published by ThinkFun, it brings 40 new challenges designed for dueling to the table: the same board, two players, the first one out wins.
Each player has their own set of vehicles to move. You start from the initial configuration of the chosen challenge. When the go signal sounds, both move their vehicles trying to free the red car and get it off the board. There are no turns: whoever thinks faster and moves better wins. Hands fly, brains work at double speed, and the traffic jam dissolves under the pressure of competition.
What they say abroad
The first race ends in ten seconds. Then you realize you have to think three moves ahead.

Components and challenges
What you find inside the box
Game board
A single grid for both players. Vehicles only move horizontally or vertically. The exit is narrow: only the right car passes.
24 colored vehicles
12 vehicles per player, different sizes. Long trucks block more space, small cars fit anywhere. Each challenge positions them differently.
40 challenge cards
Each card shows the initial configuration. Increasing difficulty: from the immediate first ones to the last ones that require sequences of 10+ moves visualized under pressure.
Red car to free
The target. You must get it off the grid before your opponent. Everything else is an obstacle to move or a path to open.
In ten minutes, you'll have won three challenges and lost two. And you'll already be preparing for a rematch on the sixth.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose the challenge
Draw a card from the deck. Position the vehicles as indicated. Check that everything matches: one wrong move changes everything. When you're ready, someone says "Go". And the race begins.
The first chaotic moves
Both of you start moving pieces. Someone moves randomly hoping to find the way. Someone stops for a second to visualize. Hands move fast, vehicles slide across the grid. The plastic-on-plastic sound fills the table.
The moment of mental gridlock
You moved three pieces. You realize you've blocked yourself. Your opponent is already clearing their side of the grid. You go back, try again. Your brain works at double speed: which sequence frees the car? What's in front of me?
One of you sees the way
One vehicle moves. Then another. The sequence comes together. The red car starts moving towards the exit. The other player speeds up, but it's too late. Fingers fly, the puzzle unravels, and the car slides off the grid.
Immediate rematch
The winner celebrates. The loser wants to play again. Same challenge or next card? It doesn't matter: in thirty seconds you're ready again. Rush Hour Duel leaves no room to breathe: one game calls for the next.
How to play
The flow of each challenge
No turns. Just a simultaneous race to the exit.
Position the vehicles on the grid according to the chosen card. Each player controls their own side. When everything is ready, start simultaneously.
Move your vehicles back and forth along the lanes. No limit to the number of moves. You can go back, change strategy, try again. The important thing is to be faster.
When you have created a clear path, slide the red car towards the exit of the board. The first one to get it out wins the challenge.
Record who won. Choose the next card (or replay the same one to improve your time). Reposition the pieces and start again. Best of 5, best of 10, or race to 20 wins: you decide.
Why it's different from others
Six reasons why it works
Pure real time
No turns, no waiting. Both of you play simultaneously. The pressure is constant: while you think, the other moves. This changes everything compared to classic Rush Hour. You don't have time for the perfect solution, you have to find the fastest one.
Calibrated progression
You solve the first challenges in 20 seconds. The last ones require sequences of 12+ moves visualized under pressure. The difficulty curve grows smoothly, but when you reach challenge 40, you feel the difference. Each card is designed for a specific type of logical block.
Peripheral distraction
Seeing your opponent move pieces distracts you. Peripheral vision tells you they're going fast, your brain gets nervous, your fingers speed up and make mistakes. Rush Hour Duel exploits this psychological tension: it's not just a puzzle, it's also about resisting pressure.
Very short games
A challenge lasts 1-3 minutes. Setup in 30 seconds, immediate start. This means you can play a single challenge or have an hour-long session. Perfect for filling downtime or for quick tournaments.
Zero luck
There are no dice, drawn cards, or random variables. The one who visualizes best and moves fastest wins. Every defeat is your responsibility, every victory is to your credit. The game rewards the ability to think spatially under stress.
Portable and complete
Compact box, sturdy components, 40 challenges already included. No expansions or additional materials needed. Take it anywhere: home table, lunch break, travel. Open, play, close. Zero mental overhead.
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
A challenge ends when one of the two players frees their red car and moves it off the board.
Victory
- Get the red car off the board before your opponent
- Complete the necessary sequence of moves faster
- Win the agreed number of challenges (e.g., best of 5, best of 10)
Defeat
- Your opponent frees their car before you do
- You get stuck in a wrong sequence and lose valuable time
- You lose the majority of challenges in the agreed session
Rush Hour Duel takes a classic puzzle and transforms it into a direct brain race. No turns, no waiting: just logic, speed, and pressure. For two players who want to challenge each other without frills.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Rush Hour Duel
Is it suitable for children or do you need experience with logic puzzles?
The first 10-15 challenges are accessible for ages 8 and up. They require basic spatial visualization and the ability to plan 3-4 moves. The later challenges are complex even for adults. The progression is gradual: children play the first ones, adults go all the way.
Can it be played solo or do you absolutely need an opponent?
The game is designed for two competing players. You can solve the challenges alone like a classic Rush Hour puzzle, but you lose the real-time component and the pressure that are the heart of the experience. In that case, the original Rush Hour is better.
How long do games last? Can I play a single challenge?
A single challenge lasts 1-3 minutes (including setup). You can play a single challenge, do a best of 5, or long point-based sessions. The modular structure allows you to adapt the duration to the available time. A typical session is 15-20 minutes (10 challenges).
Can challenges be replayed or do they lose interest after the first time?
After solving a challenge, you know the sequence. But replay it against a fast opponent and the pressure returns. Real time changes everything: even knowing the solution, you have to execute it faster than the other. The 40 challenges still offer a lot of variety before exhausting them.
Is it available in Italian?
This edition is in English. The game is completely language-independent: it is based on physical components and spatial logic. The challenge cards are visual, no text to read. The rulebook is in English but very simple (2 pages).
