In Keep the Heroes Out: The Great Dreamer Expansion , the game mechanics take a supernatural twist. This expansion introduces a deck of 20 cards specific to the Cthulhu faction, designed to take advantage of the unique "Asleep" state mechanic. Unlike every other monster, Cthulhu is not removed from the map when defeated.
The core strategy lies in managing the Sleep/Wake cycle. Awake, Cthulhu is a destructive force. Asleep, he becomes an invisible puppeteer: his cards allow you to manipulate exhausted Heroes, making them move away from objectives or attack their companions. This requires careful planning, as Cthulhu always acts last in the turn, making every move crucial to the dungeon's survival.
