Deeper abysses, scenarios no one has mapped, specialists ready to change the ocean's destiny. Uncharted waters await you.
What it's about
New depths for those who have already explored everything
Endeavor Deep Sea - Uncharted Waters is the first expansion for the award-winning ocean exploration game by Carl de Visser and Jarratt Gray. It requires the base game — and pushes it much further.
Four new scenarios with unique phenomena: the Tectonic Rift splits the sea in two, The Fog envelops the surface in an impenetrable mystery. Each scenario brings new components that change the rules of the table. Nineteen new ocean tiles expand the submerged world in directions the base game had not imagined.
But the real novelty is the enhanced solo and cooperative mode: eight new separate modes, Bonus and Penalty card decks with selectable difficulty levels, designed for those who want to challenge the ocean even alone — or as a team against the board. An expansion for those who already know what it means to push a research institute to the limit of what's possible.
Four scenarios with unprecedented natural phenomena: every game is an ocean you've never seen before.
The secret of Uncharted Waters in one line
The enhanced solo and cooperative mode transforms every dive into a challenge precisely calibrated to your level.
From the game experience
Endeavor: Deep Sea – Uncharted Waters
This expansion doubles the solo/co-op content with 8 new modes and graduated Penalty cards: the solo experience finally matches the competitive game.
What it adds
New tools for the expert aquanaut
Four separate entries into the heart of Endeavor: Deep Sea. Each component is designed for those who already know the base game — and want more.
4 new scenarios
Tectonic Rift, The Fog, and two other phenomena that change the map rules. Exclusive components included in each scenario.
19 new ocean tiles
Never-before-seen environments: new ecosystems to map that unpredictably expand the variability of each game.
Specialists and dive tokens
6 new level 5 specialists, 12 dive tokens, and 7 journal cards with completely new abilities, effects, and scoring methods.
Enhanced solo/co-op
42 cards for 8 separate modes, selectable difficulty levels, Penalty and Bonus cards that transform every solo dive into a real challenge.
There's an ocean beyond the map. Uncharted Waters gives you the sonar to explore it.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The Uncharted Waters experience.
The scenario is revealed — and it's not what you expected
Choose the scenario, set up the ocean boards, reveal the phenomenon. The Tectonic Rift splits the board into two isolated halves. Someone nods. Someone else grimaces. The strategy they had in mind thirty seconds ago is now worthless.
Early rounds: build, explore, endure
The initial rounds seem slow — specialists are placed, tracks are advanced, the submarine is sent on reconnaissance. But every choice now weighs twice as much. The new level 5 specialists are waiting to be recruited, and whoever gets there first gains the game-changing advantage.
Penalty cards arrive — and the plan falls apart
In co-op or solo mode, the board responds. A Setback card blocks the research path you've been building for three turns. You discuss, search for an alternative, find a way out that no one had planned. This is where the expansion adds tension where before there was only optimization.
The engine explodes — everything connects
Mid-game, the research institute comes alive: specialists activate in chains, dive tokens multiply, published logs open up previously unreachable areas. The second half of every Endeavor game is why you keep playing. Uncharted Waters makes it even denser.
Endgame: the ocean has been charted. Perhaps.
Count the points, look at the map built together. There's always an area no one reached, a scenario not explored, a solo mode that still challenges. You pack everything back into the box already knowing which scenario you want to try next time.
How to play
The flow of each round
Two phases per round, for six or seven total turns. Simple to explain, dense to play.
Each player advances their tracks on their personal board, acquires new specialists from the common tray, and plans available actions based on reached levels.
In turn order, each player places their action discs and activates specialists: EXPLORE, DIVE, PUBLISH, CONSERVE, or RECRUIT — each dependent on the submarine's location.
With Uncharted Waters, Penalty and Bonus cards activate at the end of the round: they add challenges to the table, block areas, or open opportunities that change priorities for the next round.
After six or seven rounds, points are calculated: advanced tracks, discs on the Impact Board, scenario objectives, and published Log cards. In co-op mode, the entire table wins or loses.
Why it's worth expanding
Six reasons to dive into Uncharted Waters
Scenarios with unique phenomena
The Tectonic Rift divides the sea into two separate zones. The Fog hides the surface. Each scenario introduces exclusive mechanics not present in the base game — not just new boards, but new movement and interaction rules.
Completely redesigned solo/co-op
Eight separate modes for solo or cooperative play. Selectable difficulty levels through Penalty and Bonus cards. It's not a marginal add-on: it's a mature second game mode that brings the same complexity as the competitive game.
Level 5 specialists
Six new tiles at the maximum level with abilities that did not exist in the base game. Recruiting them radically changes the engine's trajectory — and whoever gets them first has an advantage that is felt until the final count.
New Logs and Descent Tokens
Seven new Log cards and five Descent Tokens open up alternative scoring paths. Strategies that worked perfectly in the base game are challenged from the very first play with the expansion.
19 additional ocean boards
New marine ecosystems to chart exponentially expand possible configurations. The replayability of the base game was already high — with Uncharted Waters it becomes virtually inexhaustible.
Seamless integration with the base game
No new rules to memorize before sitting down at the table. Components are added to the base box without overturning the structure. You can mix and match — add a new scenario without everything else, or just bring the level 5 specialists.
How it ends
Three ways to play, three ways to win
Competitive, cooperative or solo — Uncharted Waters enhances all three modes with new objectives and graded challenges.
Competitive victory
- Accumulate more points than opponents by the end of round 6 or 7
- Points from tracks, Impact discs, published Logs, and scenario objectives
- New level 5 specialists open up unprecedented scoring paths
Cooperative and solo victory
- Achieve scenario objectives before Penalty cards run out of the deck
- Scale difficulty by choosing how many and which Penalty cards to include
- Eight separate modes with challenge progression — from first dive to master
Endeavor: Deep Sea – Uncharted Waters is the expansion fans have been waiting for: it doesn't add complication, it adds depth. Exactly where it was needed.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ on Endeavor: Deep Sea – Uncharted Waters
Is the expansion worth buying if I already have the base game?
Yes, if you've already exhausted the base game's scenarios or want a more structured solo and cooperative mode. Uncharted Waters doesn't just add content: it introduces four scenarios with phenomena that change the rules of the table and radically enhances support for 1-5 player games with eight separate modes and calibratable difficulty. If the base game convinced you, this expansion gives you a second game inside the same box.
Does it add complexity or is it as accessible as the base game?
It does not add a new learning curve. The components integrate into the setup without new rules to memorize in advance — each scenario introduces its peculiarities as it is played. Those already familiar with the base game are ready in minutes. Those new to Endeavor should still start with the base game before adding the expansion.
Is the solo mode really improved compared to the base game?
Yes, significantly. The base game offered a functional solo mode but was a bit flat compared to competitive play. Uncharted Waters introduces 42 new cards, 8 separate modes, selectable difficulty levels, and dedicated objectives that make the solo experience comparable in tension and satisfaction to playing with others. It is one of the expansion's strengths.
How many scenarios does it add in total?
Four new scenarios, each with unique phenomena that do not exist in the base game. The Tectonic Rift divides the board into two separate zones. The Fog modifies visibility on the map. The other two scenarios bring exclusive components that change the table's structure. Combined with the ten scenarios from the base game, this totals fourteen different configurations — plus eight solo/co-op modes.
Can the expansion be used in parts, without adding everything at once?
Yes. The components are modular: you can add only the new level 5 specialists to a standard game, or use a single new scenario without the Penalty cards, or integrate only the new ocean boards to vary the map. There is no obligation to use everything at once — it is designed to be combined gradually.
Is it compatible with the Deluxe edition of the base game?
Yes. This is the standard edition of the expansion, compatible with all versions of the Endeavor: Deep Sea base game — both standard and Deluxe. The components integrate directly without adaptations. The Deluxe edition of the expansion adds further exclusive Kickstarter content not present in this version.
