D&D 2024 (5.5e) Reference Monster Cards
Monsters: Animals & NPCs (CR 0-5)
"Three wolves emerge from the woods. You don't flip through the Monster Manual: you draw the card, read the attacks and hit points, and the ambush truly begins."
What it is
The enemies and allies of every session, ready in the Dungeon Master's hand
Monsters: Animals & NPCs is the official deck of D&D 2024 reference monster cards dedicated to everyday creatures: the animals and humanoids that populate almost every adventure. It is part of the D&D Reference Cards line, with statistics updated to the 5.5e rules and the new Monster Manual.
Inside the box you'll find 112 stat cards for creatures from CR 0 to 5, divided into 87 beast cards and 25 humanoid cards, plus an instruction card. Each card features complete statistics and a large illustration, so the monster is ready to use and recognizable at a glance.
The Monsters: Animals & NPCs cards serve a specific purpose: to give the Dungeon Master immediate access to common enemies and allies, without flipping through the manual mid-combat. An important note: the deck is in English, so names and statistics must be read in English.
The FroGames perspective
The essence of these cards in one line
The statblock leaves the pages of the manual and becomes a card you hold in your hand while playing: no more finger stuck between pages.
From our tabletop experience
Low CR creatures are precisely those that are most often and suddenly needed: having them ready saves every random encounter.
Four tables, one deck
Who this deck is really for
It's a Dungeon Master's tool, designed for when the dice need to roll immediately. Here's who benefits the most from it.
If you are a Dungeon Master
Manage every encounter without stopping. You draw the monster card, you have AC, hit points, and attacks right before your eyes, and combat flows smoothly. No more Monster Manual open on the table slowing down the pace.
If you are learning to be a Master
CR 0-5 creatures are those of early campaigns. Having the statblock ready on a card takes away half the anxiety: you focus on the scene, not on finding the right numbers.
If your table wants pace
Unexpected encounters (a pack of wolves, a bandit patrol) no longer break the session. You draw the card and play: the tension remains high and combat doesn't get bogged down.
If you love physical materials
The large illustrations make every creature immediate even for players, if you decide to show them. It's a deck that looks good on the table, as well as being useful.
D&D Monsters: Animals & NPCs (CR 0-5)
What you find in the box
Three card types, 113 in total
87 Beast Cards
Wolves, bears, boars, raptors, and all the fauna that inhabits forests, mountains, and swamps. Creatures from natural encounters, ready to draw.
25 Humanoid Cards
Bandits, guards, cultists, nobles, and other NPCs that drive a campaign. The allies and enemies players talk and fight with most.
Statistics from CR 0 to 5
112 complete statblocks covering the most used challenge rating range, from early levels to mid-game. AC, hit points, attacks, and traits on each card.
1 Instruction Card
Explains how to organize and consult the deck at the table. Reads in two minutes, then the system works itself.
Honesty first and foremost
What you will NOT find inside the box
We'll tell you before you buy. This is the "Animals and NPCs" deck from the monster line, not the entire bestiary. Here's what it doesn't contain.
Monsters above CR 5
The covered range goes up to CR 5. For more powerful enemies and big bosses, you'll need the other monster decks in the line, sold separately.
Dragons, undead, and aberrations
Here you'll find animals and humanoids. Mystical and monstrous creatures (undead, fiends, aberrations) are collected in the "Mystical and Menacing" and "Fearsome and Ferocious" decks.
D&D rules
It's not a standalone game. To play, you need a copy of D&D 2024 at the table. The cards provide monster statistics, not the complete ruleset.
Italian translation
The cards are in English. Creature names and statistics must be read in English: if no one at the table knows the language, keep this in mind before buying.
Player material
This is a Dungeon Master's tool. Players don't use these cards to build characters: they are for the person managing monsters and NPCs.
Protective sleeves
Sleeves are not included. The cards are sturdy, but if you handle them in every combat, consider protecting the most used ones separately.
No surprises
To use them tonight, you only need this
✅ You need…
- This deck, already sorted by type and CR
- A copy of D&D 2024 at the table for the rules
- A basic knowledge of English to read the cards
- Your players and an adventure to run
❌ You do NOT need…
- Apps or digital subscriptions
- To photocopy statblocks from the manual
- Other monster decks to get started
- Mandatory sleeves to play
Keep the beasts and humanoids in two separate piles and, within each, sort by CR: when players provoke an unexpected encounter, you draw the right creature in a second. The CR 0-2 cards are perfect for random travel encounters: keep a few always handy, ready for when your group decides to explore instead of following the plot.
"A good Dungeon Master doesn't keep the table waiting. Draw the card, and the monster is already there, ready to bite."

Compatibility and How to UseWhat you need in addition to the deck
D&D 2024 (5.5e)
Stats follow the updated 2024 rules and the new Monster Manual. This is the official line that inherits the old reference cards.
Core Rulebooks
You need a copy of D&D 2024 at the table for combat rules. The cards provide ready stat blocks, not the complete rulebook.
English
Creature names and stats are in English. The Dungeon Master reads the card and describes the encounter to the players in the table's language.
Five Moments at the Table
How an Encounter Flows with the Deck in Hand
The Party Leaves the Path
The players decide to explore the woods. It wasn't planned, but something moves among the trees.
You Draw the Card
No Monster Manual to flip through. You draw the wolf or boarcart and you have everything ready: AC, hit points, attacks.
Combat Starts Immediately
You show the illustration, describe the ambush, and roll initiative. The scene never stopped, the tension is intact.
Manage Everything from the Card
Special traits, multiattacks, saves: all data is in front of you. No more pauses to check a value in the manual.
Put Away and Move On
After the encounter, the card goes back into the deck, ready for next time. The players' journey resumes without a hitch.
How to Organize an Encounter
From Preparation to Combat in Four Steps
Choose Your Creatures
Before the session, you select the cards you need by CR and type, beasts or humanoids, and set them aside.
Keep the Cards Ready
You place them behind the screen or next to you. When an encounter starts, you don't have to look for anything: they're already there.
Manage Combat
Read attacks, hit points, and traits directly from the card. Everything you need is right in front of your eyes.
Put Away and Reuse
Once the encounter is over, the card returns to the deck. The same creature will be ready for the next session, and the one after that.

Animals and CR 0-5 NPCs are the daily bread of every campaign. This is the monster deck you'll open most often, in every adventure.
112 Ready Stat Blocks
87 beasts and 25 humanoids, already complete and sortable. It's hard to be without the right creature when you suddenly need it.
Large Illustrations

No Open Manual
Combat no longer stops while you search for a stat block. The card has everything, and the pace of the session remains high.
Separated Beasts and Humanoids
The division by type makes consultation immediate. You always know which pile to look in, even in the midst of a heated scene.
Aligned with 2024
Statistics follow the 5.5e rules and the new Monster Manual. The deck ages well because it speaks the language of the current edition.
Its Value Over Time
The Monster Deck You Open Every Session
The First Session
Already in the first encounter, you feel the difference: combat starts immediately, and you remain in the scene instead of flipping through the manual. For a new GM, it's half the stress removed.
Campaign After Campaign
Low-CR animals and NPCs appear in every story, in every setting. The deck doesn't age: you reuse it with new groups and new adventures, always the same.
The first monster deck to put in the Dungeon Master's bag. Bring it to your table from FroGames.

Real Questions
The Questions You're Asking Yourself
Is it worth it if I already have the Monster Manual?
Yes, because it solves a different problem. The manual is the complete reference for preparation, but looking up a stat block in the middle of combat slows everyone down. The cards give you the creature ready in hand, with the illustration to show to players. They work alongside the manual, not instead of it.
Are the cards in Italian?
No, the cards are in English. Creature names and statistics should be read in English. The Dungeon Master reads the card and describes the encounter to the players in the language of the table, so for the group, it's almost transparent.
Are they for players or only for the GM?
They are a Dungeon Master tool. Players do not use them for their characters: they are for the person managing monsters and NPCs. The only thing you share with the table is the illustration, if you want to show what the creature looks like.
What monsters are included and up to what CR?
The deck contains 87 beasts and 25 humanoids, for a total of 112 complete stat blocks with challenge ratings from CR 0 to CR 5. These are common natural creatures and NPCs: the low and medium range, the ones you encounter most often.
Do they work with the old 5e from 2014?
They are designed for D&D 2024 (5.5e) and the new Monster Manual. Many common creatures are similar between editions, but several statistics have been revised: with 2014's 5e, some values might not exactly match.
Can I use them with D&D Beyond or digital tools?
Yes. The cards are physical and independent of digital tools: many Dungeon Masters run campaigns on tablets but still keep monster cards for speed at the table and to show illustrations to players.
The D&D Monsters: Animals & NPCs Reference Cards are the official Wizards of the Coast accessory for Dungeons & Dragons 2024 (5.5e), designed to give the Dungeon Master immediate access to everyday enemies and allies. The deck includes 112 stat cards with challenge ratings from CR 0 to 5, divided into 87 beast cards and 25 humanoid cards, plus an instruction card, for a total of 113 English-language cards with large illustrations. Part of the new D&D Reference Cards line replacing the Spellbook Cards, it is the first of the three monster decks and the ideal tool for managing encounters without opening the Monster Manual. Compatible with D&D 2024 rules, recommended age 12+, available on FroGames.it.
