Six thieves, six different ways to steal, six friendships put to the test. And now the dragon celebrates ten years of heists: the party returns with a brand new edition.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Ten years of Clank!, the band of six thieves returns refreshed
Clank!: A Deck-Building Adventure celebrated its tenth birthday, and Dire Wolf took the opportunity to revamp the entire line. The Master Thief Edition of Adventuring Party is the updated version of the expansion that brings the famous dungeon-crawler deck-building game up to six players. Designed by Evan Lorentz for Dire Wolf and published by Renegade Game Studios, it retains the mechanics that made this expansion a must-have for Clank! fans.
Six asymmetric characters, each with their own starting deck and special abilities: Agnet the Dwarf leads trusty companions, D'allan the Elf builds marvelous collections, Garignar the Orc smashes hordes of enemies, Lenara the Mage casts arcane spells, MonkeyBot Prime accumulates primal power, and Whiskers the Cat causes four-legged trouble. All against the three-headed dragon Hexavultus, who doesn't give up his treasure without a fuss.
What changes in this edition? The core of the game remains the same — draw cards, buy abilities, explore the dungeon, collect treasures, escape before the dragon tears you to pieces. But the tenth-anniversary refresh brings renewed packaging, updated illustrations, and rethought materials to keep up with the new edition of the base game. If you're a veteran of the expansion, you'll find everything you love with a modern look. If you're just entering the world of six-player Clank!, you're starting with the definitive version.
What they say abroad
"Adventuring Party is the most different your games of Clank! will ever feel."
Adventuring Party is the most different your games of Clank! will ever feel.
— Meeple Mountain
With six thieves at the table, the dungeon becomes a glorious chaos. Someone pushes, someone slows down, someone makes too much noise. And the dragon gives thanks.

Clank!: Adventuring Party — Master Thief Edition
Your band of thieves
Six characters, six strategies, six ways to ruin others' plans
Agnet, the Dwarf
Leads trusty companions who enhance your actions. The deck is built for tactical synergies: you play few cards, but each counts double if you have the right ally on the field.
D'allan, the Elf
Builds wonderful collections of minor artifacts. The more different objects you accumulate, the more points you get: the strategy is to explore broadly, not deeply, and compete in the item market.
Garignar, the Orc
Smashes hordes of enemies and converts violence into gold and points. The deck starts aggressive and powers up by killing: ignore treasures, focus on combat.
Whiskers, the Cat
Devious cat specializing in cheap cards and quick combos. Flips through the deck fast, accumulates small advantages, and exploits others' distractions to slip away with treasures.
Ten years of Clank!, six thieves at the table, and a whole evening ahead. In a few hours, you'll have six different stories to tell — and you'll discover that MonkeyBot Prime is always the character no one wants to face twice.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The thief's choice
Everyone picks a character and shuffles their starting deck. Someone reads the abilities aloud, someone keeps a secret. Everyone immediately understands that each thief plays differently: Garignar wants blood, D'allan wants to collect, Whiskers wants to trick everyone. The table divides into opposing styles before even starting.
The market race
First turns: everyone buys cards from the common market. But with six players, good cards disappear in one round. Those who draw badly are left with scraps, those who wait too long lose the key upgrade. The first Clank rings out: someone made too much noise for a worthwhile card.
The dungeon gets crowded
Mid-game: six thieves explore different directions. Some descend into the depths for big treasures, some stay on the surface to exit quickly. The collective Clank grows: each dragon attack draws cubes from the bag, and with six colors inside, the risk is real. Someone curses, someone laughs, someone counts the remaining cubes.
The first one escapes
Someone exits the dungeon. The countdown begins: from now on, those still inside have limited turns. The dragon attacks more often, panic rises. Those who banked on a long strategy must rush, those who took heavy treasures curse the weight. The table splits between those outside and those begging "just one more turn."
The final haul
Last dragon attacks. Cubes are drawn from the bag, damage is counted. Someone dies a step from the exit: they lose half their points, curse, swear revenge. Those who exited early count their treasures and realize they might have left too much on the table. Artifacts, character bonuses, purchased cards are tallied. The one who balanced greed and fear wins. And everyone wants to play again with another thief.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Clank!: Adventuring Party Master Thief Edition uses the base game's engine: deck-building, exploration, push-your-luck. Each turn follows the same structure, but the asymmetrical decks change priorities.
Draw five cards from your deck. Play them all: they generate abilities (swords to fight, boots to move, gold to buy), Clank (noise that goes on the track), and special character abilities. Agnet activates companions, Lenara casts spells, Whiskers triggers quick combos.
Use boots to move through the dungeon, swords to defeat monsters and get rewards, gold to buy cards from the market or artifacts from rooms. Every action has a cost: the deeper you move, the more Clank you add. The more you fight, the more gold you earn but the more noise you make.
Spend gold in the common market (cards that enter your deck and improve it) or buy artifacts in explored rooms (treasures worth points at the end of the game). With six players, the market refreshes quickly: strong cards disappear immediately, you have to be fast or adapt to what's left.
When someone draws a dragon card from the market, Hexavultus attacks. The bag is filled with as many Clank cubes as players have generated, and random cubes are drawn: those drawn suffer damage. With six thieves, the bag is full and the probabilities increase. When the first one exits the dungeon, attacks become more frequent and lethal.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
Asymmetrical starting decks
You're not just adding pawns: each character starts with 10 different cards and their own mechanical identity. Agnet has companions who empower each other, Garignar has brutal attacks, MonkeyBot Prime collects bananas (yes, really) to trigger primordial powers. From the first turn, six thieves play six different games.
The dragon's bag explodes
With six colors inside, each attack is a lottery that hits multiple players. The risk is distributed, but so is the paranoia: who made the most Clank? Who always gets away with it? The tension is collective, and when the bag fills, no one is safe.
The pace dictated by the group
In standard Clank, you can control the timing. With six players, someone is always running faster: whoever exits first triggers the countdown, whoever lags behind feels the pressure of the table. You have to read others, not just your own deck.
Hexavultus, the voracious hydra
The expansion introduces a meaner three-headed dragon: Hexavultus is not the base dragon, it has special rules and attacks more often. It's designed to handle the chaos of six thieves making noise simultaneously. If Clank seemed lenient to you, this will teach you terror.
The competitive market
With six players, good cards last one round. You can't plan: that perfect combo you wanted to build? Someone bought it before you. You have to adapt, improvise, take what's left. Deck-building becomes more tactical and less optimizable.
The 10-year refresh
The Master Thief Edition celebrates a decade of Clank!: refreshed packaging, updated artwork, and redesigned materials to align with the new edition of the base game. Same mechanics, same chaos, a completely new look. Perfect for those new to the Adventuring Party world.
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The one who exits the dungeon alive with the most points wins. But dying is expensive, and staying too long costs you your life.
Victory
- Exit the dungeon above ground with at least one artifact: you gain full points from treasures, purchased cards, character bonuses, and secret objectives.
- Accumulate more points than others by balancing greed and caution: large treasures are worth more, but they are in the depths where Clank is lethal.
- Choose the right moment to escape: exiting first triggers the countdown but saves you, exiting last risks death for a few extra points.
Elimination or defeat
- Drop to zero health while still in the dungeon: you die, lose half your points, and watch others finish the game cursing the dragon.
- Get trapped underground when the countdown ends: considered dead, halved points, real tears.
- Exit alive but with fewer points than others: you played too safe, left treasures on the table, and now Whiskers the cat is laughing in your face.
Clank! Adventuring Party Master Thief Edition takes everything you love about Clank and multiplies it by six. More chaos, more laughs, more stories to tell afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Clank!: Adventuring Party Master Thief Edition
What's new compared to the old Adventuring Party?
The Master Thief Edition is the 10th-anniversary refresh of Clank!: completely new packaging, updated illustrations, and redesigned materials to align with the new edition of the base game. The game mechanics, the six asymmetrical characters, and the Hexavultus dragon remain the same — it's the same expansion that captivated fans, with a modern look. If you already own the old version, the gameplay experience doesn't change. If you're just getting into it now, get the definitive version.
Do I need the Clank! base game to play?
Yes, absolutely. Adventuring Party Master Thief Edition is an expansion: it requires Clank! A Deck-Building Adventure (or Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated after completing the campaign) to function. It adds character decks, components for up to six players, and the Hexavultus dragon, but does not include the base game.
Is it compatible with the first edition of Clank! from 2016?
Generally, yes, with an honest caveat. The Adventuring Party Master Thief adds asymmetrical characters, cubes, and components for up to six players: all of this works regardless of your base game version, because the Clank! game system has remained the same for ten years. However, keep in mind that the new edition of the base game (Master Thief Edition) includes some balancing adjustments to cards and revised endgame mechanics: if you want the optimal experience, pair it with the Master Thief Edition base game. You can play without issues with the 2016 first edition, but with the 2016 version of the market cards.
Can I play with fewer than 6 players?
Yes. The expansion works for 2 to 6 players. Even with two or three, the asymmetrical characters change the experience: each thief has different strategies, and it's worth trying them all. But the real chaos unleashes with four or more.
Are the characters balanced?
Enough. They have very different styles, some simpler (Whiskers, Agnet), others more complex (MonkeyBot Prime, Lenara). Strength depends on the group and the type of game: Garignar dominates if everyone fights, D'allan wins if no one competes over artifacts. It's not symmetrical balancing, it's intentional asymmetry.
Is this edition in Italian?
No. The Master Thief Edition of Adventuring Party is in English. The game contains cards with text (character decks, market cards), so it requires a good understanding of the language or the use of a translated reference. There is currently no official Italian edition.
