🐸 HOW TO PLAY
A palace to decorate
In Azul, players take on the role of artists tasked with decorating the Royal Palace of Évora with splendid azulejos, the famous Portuguese tiles inspired by Moorish art. Every move is a blend of beauty and strategy.
The drafting phase
Each turn, players choose colored tiles from the central supply and place them on their setup rows. The choice is never trivial: taking too many tiles of the same color can force you to discard, penalizing you.
Placement and scoring
At the end of the round, the completed tiles in the rows are moved to the palace wall. Each tile placed generates points based on horizontal and vertical connections, creating combinations that reward planning.
Bonuses and penalties
Completing rows, columns, or color sets awards extra points, while discarded tiles fall to the floor and deduct valuable points. A balance between risk and precision is key to excelling.
The victory of the best artist
The game ends when at least one row of the wall has been completed. The player with the most points overall wins, proving themselves the true master of azulejos.
