The FroGames Card
You reel in your line. Something heavy. Too heavy. And it has more tentacles than any fish should. Someone at the table chuckles nervously. You put it back in the water and hope no one saw it.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
When the Great Old Ones invade your favorite lake
Judson Cowan returns to his Deep Regrets with a mini-expansion that does exactly what the title promises: adds lamentable tentacles where they shouldn't be. Eighteen new fish cards, all dedicated to everyone's favorite Great Old One, ready to be shuffled into the base deck and turn a peaceful fishing trip into a Lovecraftian nightmare. Compatible with solo mode.
These cards introduce fish that have too many tentacles, too many eyes, and far too many cosmic implications for a day at the lake. They shuffle into the standard Deep Regrets deck and appear when you least expect them, adding a layer of horror risk to the original push-your-luck. It works with both multiplayer and solo: even alone, Cthulhu always finds a way to ruin your day.
What they say abroad
This expansion takes the horror theme of Deep Regrets to a whole new level. The tentacles are not just decorative.

Deep Regrets: Lamentable Tentacles Mini-Expansion
The expansion is explicitly compatible with the solo mode of Deep Regrets. The tentacled cards shuffle into the deck and work with the same rules as the base game: the experience is complete, the risk remains high, and facing Cthulhu alone has a particular narrative charm.
What's in the deck
18 cards you never wanted to catch
Tentacled Fish
They are not normal fish with a few extra tentacles. They are wrong fish, fish that shouldn't exist, with eyes that look too deep and appendages that move even out of the water.
The Great Old One
Cthulhu himself makes an appearance in the illustrations. It's not a metaphor: it's him, in your lake, ruining your fishing trip. Some cards show him directly, others hint at his cosmic presence.
Amplified Risks
Each tentacled card introduces more severe consequences than standard fish. Catching one of these is not just bad luck: it's a narrative moment that changes the perception of the lake.
Cowan Illustrations
Judson Cowan draws and designs. His illustrations bring Lovecraftian horror into a fishing game with perfect graphic coherence: they look like part of the original deck, but disturb in just the right way.

🎲How to PlayThe rules in four steps▼
How to Play
The flow remains identical to the base game
This is an expansion that integrates without changing the rules: shuffle the 18 cards into the deck, and play Deep Regrets normally.
Each turn, decide whether to draw another card or stop. Tentacled cards follow the same rules as the others, but often lead to more severe consequences.
Deep Regrets' push-your-luck is amplified: now you're not just avoiding the wrong fish, you're avoiding cosmic entities. Any card could be one too many.
Some tentacled cards have special effects related to the Lovecraftian theme. Read them, apply them, and hope you haven't awakened something sleeping at the bottom.
When you stop, you keep your loot. When you draw too much, you lose everything. Cthulhu cards don't change this structure, but they make every choice more narratively charged.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Shuffle the new cards
Open the mini-expansion and shuffle the 18 cards into the Deep Regrets deck. No one knows how many will enter play this time. The lake looks the same as before, but it isn't.
The first tentacled card
Someone draws. They flip the card. Too many tentacles. Too many eyes. Nervous laughter at the table. The game has changed: now every draw carries the possibility of horror.
Amplified push-your-luck
The core mechanism of Deep Regrets remains intact, but now the risk has a Lovecraftian face. Do you draw again? Do you stop here? Cthulhu's presence in the deck makes every decision more tense.
Cthulhu actually appears
A card shows the Great Old One in all its glory. It's not an easter egg: it's a punishing mechanic. Someone loses points, someone laughs, someone wonders how Cthulhu ended up in a Minnesota lake.
End of game with regrets
Deep Regrets ends as always: points tallied, someone wins, someone drew too much. But the tentacled cards remain etched in memory: they are what you'll remember, not the final score.

Good to know beforehand
Three things you need to know
Base game required
This is a mini-expansion: you cannot play it alone. You need Deep Regrets (base game) to use these 18 cards. There are no additional rules in the box, only the cards to shuffle.
Does not change complexity
The cards integrate without adding new steps or mechanics. If you know Deep Regrets, you're ready. The horror theme is strong, but the game weight remains identical (2.25/5).
Narrative impact, not strategic
Don't expect a tactical revolution: the expansion serves to strengthen the theme, not change the gameplay. If you're looking for deep new mechanics, this isn't the product. If you want Cthulhu in your lake, it's perfect.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
Victory and defeat (as in the base game)
The victory and defeat conditions remain those of Deep Regrets. The tentacled cards affect scoring and risks, but do not introduce alternative endings.
Victory
- You accumulate more points than others by managing risk
- You stop at the right time, before drawing Cthulhu
- You exploit the positive effects (if any) of the tentacled cards
Elimination or defeat
- You draw one card too many and lose all your loot for the turn
- Lovecraftian cards inflict penalties you can't recover from
- You finish with fewer points than others because you took too many cosmic risks
Deep Regrets was already a thematic push-your-luck game. With Lamentable Tentacles it also becomes a horror experience you won't forget.

The same as the base game: push-your-luck, hand management, risk management. The expansion does not introduce new mechanics, but amplifies the horror theme with cards dedicated to Cthulhu and his tentacles.
Does it work well solo?
Yes, the expansion is explicitly compatible with the solo mode of Deep Regrets. The cards are shuffled into the deck and work with the same rules: facing Cthulhu alone has a particular narrative charm.
How much does the game change compared to the base game?
