The FroGames Card
The witch pours potion number four. Everyone is looking at you. Someone is already laughing, someone is shouting 'Drink it!', someone is counting your remaining hit points. And you are still deciding whether to trust the emerald green or call for the antidote.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
Voluntary (but not too much) Guinea Pigs in the Witch's Lab
Designed by José Manuel Fernández Aguilera and illustrated by Ana Marco, Risky Mixes is a goblin party game published by Rocket Lemon Games and distributed by Devir in 2019. The premise is simple and ridiculous: the witch has prepared new experimental potions, and you are her goblin servants designated as guinea pigs. Some potions are harmless, others lethal. Some will survive, some won't.
Each round the witch mixes potions and distributes them to the players, who must decide whether to drink them, pass them, or invoke an antidote. The group votes, argues, laughs. Those who are left with too many negative effects are eliminated. The last goblin standing wins, but not before everyone has yelled, betrayed someone, and laughed until they cried. It's fast, chaotic, perfect for large groups who want pure chaos without thinking too much.
What they say abroad
""The witch needs "guinea pigs" to try her new potions, and you, her loyal goblin minions, have been designated as forced volunteers for this occasion."
— Rocket Lemon Games
The push-your-luck mechanic blends with social voting in a very fast format. Perfect for starting or ending a game night with the whole group.

Risky Mixes
What's in the box
Potions, antidotes, and doomed goblins
Potion Cards
Each potion has different effects: some harmless, some lethal. You draw them randomly, distribute them, and then start praying or passing them to someone else.
Antidotes
Lifesaving cards that nullify negative effects. Few, precious, and everyone wants to keep them for as long as possible.
Goblin Cards
Each player has their goblin identity with hit points and special abilities. Nothing complex, just enough to make each guinea pig slightly different.
Spell Cards
Special effects that the witch can activate to complicate everything: reversals, doubles, forced exchanges. The extra chaos nobody wants.

If you play often, we recommend protecting the cards with transparent sleeves to make them last longer.

How to Play
The flow of each round
Each round is identical: draw, distribute, vote, chaos.
The witch (a rotating player) draws potion cards and distributes them to others. Some are visible, others hidden. The recipient of a potion decides whether to drink it, pass it, or play an antidote.
Each potion has an effect: positive, negative, or neutral. Cards are revealed, effects are applied, and damage or benefits are marked on the goblins' life points.
The group votes on who should drink the next dangerous potion. They discuss, accuse, lie. The vote is open: everyone sees who betrays whom. Alliances form and collapse in thirty seconds.
Whoever has accumulated too many negative effects is eliminated. The round ends, roles are passed, and it starts again. The last goblin alive wins.
⏱️Your first gameThe chronicle, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The first potion is always harmless
Everyone draws the first cards, looks at them, and starts laughing. Someone says 'this does nothing', someone else lies shamelessly. The first round is always quiet: nobody really believes that someone will die immediately. They trust too much.
First eliminated
In the third or fourth round, someone accumulates too many negative effects and is eliminated. Shouts, accusations, laughter. The game becomes serious (or ridiculous, depending on the group). The one who is out starts cheering against someone.
Fragile alliances
The survivors start making pacts: 'Don't vote for me and I'll give you the antidote'. Alliances last exactly one turn, then someone betrays and the table explodes. Nobody trusts anyone, but everyone pretends otherwise.
The decisive antidote
Three or four players remain, and someone still has a hidden antidote. They play it at the perfect moment, saving themselves or someone else to eliminate the leader. The most tense moment of the game, the one that decides everything.
Last goblin standing
Only one survivor. Applause, affectionate insults, demands for a rematch. The game ends, but the group continues to talk about the betrayal of turn three for the next ten minutes. Then someone says 'One more?'.

Good to know beforehand
Three things you need to know
Luck dominates everything
There's no way to control draws. You can play perfectly and die in the second round due to pure bad luck. If this frustrates you, this is not the game for you. If you accept the chaos, it becomes part of the fun.
You need a large group
With 4-5 players it works, but it's shy. The game explodes from 7 players up: more goblins, more votes, more chaos, more alliances, more betrayals. Below 6 players, there are better party games.
It's short, it repeats often
A game is 15-20 minutes. The structure is always the same: draw, drink, vote, laugh. Replayability depends on the group, not the mechanics. If the table is right, you'll play three in a row.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Simple: last goblin alive wins.
Victory
- You are the last player with more than zero life points
- You avoided enough deadly potions and passed the right ones to others
- You played the antidotes at the perfect moment
Elimination
- Your life points drop to zero due to too many negative potions
- The group votes you as the next guinea pig and passes you the deadly potion
- You drank the wrong combination at the wrong time
Risky Mixes is not a deep game, but it is honestly chaotic: it makes you laugh, it makes you shout, and it ends before anyone gets bored. Perfect for large groups.

FAQ about Risky Mixes
How many players do you really need to have fun?
The game technically works from 4 players, but from 7 players up, everything changes: more votes, more chaos, more temporary alliances. With 4-5 players it's shy. With 8-10 it's the party game it promises to be.
How much does strategy matter?
Very little. You can try to read others, convince them to vote for someone else, or hold onto the antidote for the right moment. But potions are random and luck decides more than you do. Accept it or choose another game.
What mechanics does Risky Mixes use?
Push your luck (decide whether to drink or pass), voting (the group votes who takes the risk), take that (deadly potions to opponents) and a touch of bluff. Nothing complex: rules in 5 minutes, immediate first game.
Can children play it?
The recommended age is 8+, and it fits: the rules are very simple, the theme is imaginative and non-violent. It works well in mixed adult-children groups, as long as everyone accepts that someone will be eliminated early due to pure bad luck.
Is it available in Italian?
This edition is in English, published by Devir. Language dependence is minimal: cards with symbols and few texts. With an Italian reference sheet, you can play without problems.
