New details on Wingspan Americas: Hummingbirds, Nectar, and Game Variants

Stonemaier Games 11/01/2026

"Jamey Stegmaier reveals the contents of Wingspan Americas: 111 new cards, a focus on hummingbirds, and an optional variant to manage game length."

Jamey Stegmaier recently shared crucial information about Wingspan Americas, the latest expansion for the popular resource management title. The box contents are particularly rich: in addition to egg tokens and a new score tracker, players will find five double-sided objective tiles, eight new bonus cards, and a whopping 111 new bird cards covering all power types. Of these, 40 are dedicated to hummingbirds, the expansion's thematic centerpiece, accompanied by a garden board, nectar tokens, and player board overlays. Stegmaier specifies that, despite the central theme, there are 89 playable birds independent of the hummingbirds, ensuring flexibility in configurations.

An interesting note concerns the mechanical impact of hummingbirds: these birds enhance row activation, but they introduce an additional step that tends to lengthen game time. To balance the experience, especially with a large number of players, an optional variant has been included. This requires each player to remove an action cube before the game begins; this arrangement preserves the original session length, compensating for the reduction in turns with the increased efficiency afforded by the new birds. Independent media coverage will begin on January 16th.
