FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Six wives, six trump suits, and a king who always changes his mind. The Tudor court has never been so exciting — nor so cruel to your teammate.
What it's about
The trick-taking game that rewrites English history
Henry VIII's court was a stage for intrigue, betrayal, and violent passions. Six wives took turns on the throne — each with their own allies, their own enemies, their own duration. The Six of VIII transforms all this into an extraordinarily elegant card game.
Each wife is a suit. Each suit is trump during her reign. Reigns last in proportion to actual history: Catherine of Aragon has four hands as trump, Anne of Cleves only one. As the crown changes hands, the trump changes — and so does your plan.
Designed by Carol LaGrow, published by New Mill Industries. Four hands, two partnerships, one winner. And a small golden crown that slides along the Tudor timeline, marking each reign.
What they're saying abroad
"The Six of VIII shines by having both an ingenious thematic implementation and some fresh mechanics."
It shines with ingenious thematic implementation and truly fresh mechanics.
— The Opinionated Gamers
The Church of England card that nullifies a trick is one of the most elegant and thematically precise ideas seen in trick-taking in recent years.
From gameplay experience
The Six of VIII
The Court Deck
What you'll find in the box
Six Queen decks
Each of Henry's wives has her own suit and number of cards, proportionate to her years of reign. Catherine of Aragon has many more than Anne of Cleves.
The Tudor timeline
A small golden crown slides along the historical timeline. It indicates which queen reigns — and thus which suit is trump at that moment. It changes with each trick.
Spies and Kings (advanced variant)
The King is the absolute trump. The two Spies can reveal their identity as the 13 of the opposing suit. Perfect for those who want more depth.
The Church of England
Assigned to the partnership with fewer points after each hand. It can nullify a trick that does not contain the King — once per hand. Like Henry, it separates what the Pope had joined.
In a few hours, you'll say "we only needed Anne of Cleves to sink us." It always happens with The Six of VIII.
