The FroGames Review
Choose a card from the table. Place it in your area. Others watch what you've left for them and start to doubt your intentions.
WHAT IT IS
An expansion that opens Pixies up to larger tables
Little Giants is a 14-card expansion for Pixies, the game by Johannes Goupy (Faraway) illustrated by artist Sylvain Trabut with photographs of creatures made from natural materials. Published by Bombyx and localized in Italian by Cranio Creations, this expansion increases the player count from 2-5 to 2-6 players.
The new cards are placed above or to the left of the 3x3 grid from the base game, adding effects that modify entire rows or columns. Each colored card introduces a new scoring condition for all cards aligned with it, changing draft priorities and forcing players to rethink established strategies.

What the expansion adds
14 cards, four concrete additions
Two-tone cards
Each new card has two colors: the background color and the flower color. They integrate into the existing grid but open up brand new color zone combinations.
Row and column effects
Placed above or to the left of the 3x3 grid, these cards modify all cards in their row or column with new scoring conditions.
Sixth player
The base game supports 2-5 players. With Little Giants the limit rises to 6, making Pixies more flexible for family tables or larger groups.
New draft priorities
The effects of the new cards change which cards you want to take and which to leave for your opponents. The winning strategies of the base game are no longer enough.
🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each round
Like the base game, but with an expanded play area and new conditions.
Flip as many cards as there are players. These may include base cards and Little Giants (bicolor) cards.
Whoever chose last in the previous turn now chooses first. Take a card from the central table.
Base cards go into the 3x3 grid according to their number. Little Giants cards go above or to the left of the grid and apply an effect to the entire row or column.
After 3 rounds, count your points: overlaps, color zones, spirals, plus the new row/column bonuses from Little Giants cards. Whoever has the most points wins.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Mixing the new with the old
Open the pack, add the 14 cards to the base deck. Someone at the table asks if new rules are needed. You say: just where to place them. The game starts as usual.
The first bicolor card
Someone draws one of the new ones. It has two colors. They place it above the grid. Everyone understands: this modifies the whole row. The table starts calculating differently.
Cascading effects
The Little Giants cards pile up. Now one row is worth extra points for one color, a column for another. Draft choices become two-track calculations: what do I take, and what do I let modify their score?
The six-player table
If you play with six, the rotation is longer. The cards you see passing by are more unpredictable. Someone complains about leaving the perfect card three players away.
Final scoring
You count points as always: color zones, spirals, overlapping cards. But now you add the row and column bonuses. Someone wins by three points thanks to a bicolor card placed in the second round. Game over.

Three honest things
Requires the base game
This is an expansion. It is not playable alone. You must own Pixies (the base game) to use these 14 cards. If you don't have it, start there.
Minimal complexity, impact to be verified
The new rules can be explained in 30 seconds. But we don't yet know how much they really change the game balance. This is a pre-release read: we will update as soon as we have played more games.
Does it work with six?
Taking a game from 5 to 6 players is always a risk: more players = more downtime. Pixies is fast, but with six, the draft might get longer. It needs testing at the table to see if it keeps the pace.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat rewards the finale▼
How it ends
How to win
After three rounds, the person who has totaled the most points by adding up all conditions wins.
Scoring conditions
- Overlapping cards: every card correctly covered by another is worth points
- Color zones: your largest area of same-colored cards is worth points
- Spirals and symbols: some cards have special icons worth extra points
- Little Giants bonuses: expansion cards give additional points to rows or columns if you meet their conditions
No eliminations
- Everyone plays until the end of the three rounds
- There are no early defeat conditions
- Whoever has fewer points loses, with no special penalties
An expansion that does not overhaul the game, but expands its boundaries. Literally: you add a row and a column, and the table grows to accommodate up to six players.

FAQ about Pixies - Little Giants
Can I play Little Giants without the base game?
No. Little Giants is an expansion, not a stand-alone game. It requires Pixies (base game) to function. The 14 cards are shuffled into the existing deck.
What really changes compared to the base game?
Three things: maximum number of players (from 5 to 6), the ability to place cards outside the 3x3 grid (above or to the left), and new scoring conditions related to rows and columns. The basic mechanics (drafting, placement, scoring) remain identical.
Is it worth it for 2-3 players, or is it strictly for larger groups?
The Little Giants cards work at any player count. The expansion isn't just for the sixth player: the row/column effects add variety even in smaller games. However, the main value is indeed being able to bring Pixies up to 6 players.
What mechanics does Pixies - Little Giants use?
Open drafting (choose from revealed cards), set collection (create color zones and collect symbols), connections (overlaps in the grid). The expansion does not add new mechanics, but expands the play space and scoring conditions.
Is it available in English?
Yes. The edition for sale on FroGames is published by Cranio Creations. The cards have minimal text (icons and symbols), so the language has little impact on gameplay.
The people behind the game
Who invented it, who illustrated it, who publishes it — and what else they have done.
