Khione freezes builders at level 1. Jason leaps from one end of the board to the other. Tyche rolls dice. And you thought you knew Santorini.
WHAT IT IS
When the 32 gods of the base game are no longer enough
Seasons of Chaos is an expansion for Santorini Second Edition developed by Roxley Games. It brings 17 new divine powers inspired by Greek mythology, including Jason, Urania, Khione, and other lesser-known figures. Designer: Gord! (aka Gordon Hamilton), who created and refined Santorini over 30 years. Art: Lina Cossette and David Forest, who sign off on the visual line for the entire second edition.
The expansion introduces two epic new modes: Golden Fleece (the Golden Fleece modifies powers near it) and Chaos Reigns (abilities change whenever someone builds a dome). It also includes additional worker miniatures, a Golden Fleece miniature, and special tokens. Some gods and modes grant alternative victory conditions, breaking the classic "reach the third level" formula. The base game of Santorini is required to play.

17 new god cards featuring Jason, Urania, Khione, and more
— Roxley
An expansion designed for those who have exhausted the base game and are looking for more extreme asymmetries. The 17 gods here are more complex, more situational, and more unpredictable. Not all work with every player count: some shine with 2, others explode with 4. First reading, August 2026.

Santorini: Seasons of Chaos
What you'll find in the box
17 god cards, 2 modes, miniatures, and tokens
17 god cards
Jason, Urania, Khione, Terpsichore, Adonis, Antaeus, Asklepios, Graeae, Hestia, Hydra, Kratos, Maenads, Medea, Pandora, Prometheus, Theseus, Tyche. Each with a unique power that modifies movement, building, or victory conditions.
Golden Fleece mode
A Golden Fleece miniature placed on the board: divine powers activate or are modified when builders are nearby. Introduces territorial control to an abstract game.
Chaos Reigns mode
Every time someone builds a dome, divine abilities change or swap. Turns Santorini into a tactical roulette where the plans are rewritten every turn.
Additional workers and tokens
Extra builder miniatures and special tokens to manage the mechanics of the new modes. Same style as the second edition, clean integration.
🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each turn
The basic rules of Santorini do not change. The expansion adds layers of complexity to the powers, not to the structure.
Move one of your builders to an adjacent space. The same level, one level up, or any level down. God powers may modify movement, distance, or conditions.
Build a level adjacent to the moved builder. Level 1, 2, 3, or a dome (which closes the space). Some powers allow building from a distance, or twice, or demolishing instead of building.
Each god has a specific moment when its power activates: during movement, during construction, or at the end of the turn. Chaos Reigns and Golden Fleece introduce additional triggers related to domes or board positioning.
You win if one of your builders reaches the third level. Or if you have met an alternative condition activated by your god or the current game mode. End of turn, pass to the next player.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Setup: choose your god
Draw god cards, or use a draft. Jason lets you jump from one side of the board to the other, Tyche rolls dice to modify buildings, Khione freezes builders at level 1. From the setup alone, you realize this is not a normal game of Santorini.
First turns: testing the power
Move, build, activate your god power. It feels familiar, but your power warps everything. Chaos Reigns? Build a dome and powers are swapped. Golden Fleece? Everyone races near the Fleece to activate bonuses. The 5×5 grid is the same, but the game is not.
Mid-game: total asymmetry
One of you is building toward the third level. Another has an alternative victory condition activated by a game mode. The third is blocking both using a power that demolishes instead of building. There are no symmetrical positions: each player is playing a different game on the same grid.
The legendary moment
Someone builds a dome in Chaos Reigns mode and powers are swapped. The one who had control two turns ago is now stuck. The Golden Fleece moves and territorial bonuses shift. The table turns in a single move.
End of game: who wins?
Classic victory (third level), alternative victory (special condition), or victory by completely blocking the opponent. With 17 gods and 2 epic modes, every game ends differently. And immediately after, you'll want to play again.

Base game required
This is an expansion. You need the board, builders, and structures from the base Santorini box (second edition). The 17 god cards inside are not enough on their own: you must already have the complete game to use them.
Not all gods are equally balanced
Some of the 17 gods are more situational, others work better in 2 players than in 4. Chaos Reigns and Golden Fleece add variance: if you are looking for a pure, deterministic abstract game, these modes might bother you.
Learning curve for new modes
The Golden Fleece and Chaos Reigns modes require a game to understand how they work. They are not as immediate as classic god powers: they introduce additional layers (Fleece position, power swapping after every dome) that slow down the first few turns.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat wins the finale▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Santorini has always had simple victory conditions. Seasons of Chaos multiplies them.
Victory
- One of your builders reaches the third level (classic victory)
- You meet an alternative condition activated by your god or the current game mode
- You block all opponent builders, preventing them from making any legal move
Defeat
- You cannot move any of your builders (you are completely blocked)
- An opponent reaches the third level before you
- An opponent completes their alternative victory condition before you react
With 17 new asymmetries and two epic modes, every game of Santorini becomes a different variant of the same system. For those who have worn out the base box.

FAQ about Santorini: Seasons of Chaos
Can I play Seasons of Chaos without the base game?
No. This is an expansion that contains only 17 god cards, 2 mode cards, additional miniatures, and tokens. It does not include the board, builders, 3D structures, or basic rules. You need Santorini Second Edition to play.
How many total gods will I have combining base + expansion?
The second edition of Santorini includes 32 god cards. Seasons of Chaos adds 17. Total: 49 god powers. Plus the 2 epic modes (Golden Fleece and Chaos Reigns) that further modify the game.

What mechanics does Santorini: Seasons of Chaos use?
Variable Player Powers layered on an abstract grid movement and building game. The new modes introduce area control (Golden Fleece) and dynamic abilities (Chaos Reigns). The core remains Grid Movement, Tile Placement, Three Dimensional Movement.
Is it available in Italian?
This edition is in English. The god cards have descriptive text of the power, but Santorini is a perfect information game: after the first game, the abilities are memorized and the text becomes an occasional reference.
