FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
The best fish only comes around once. You reach out — and someone snatches the tuna from under your chopsticks.
What it's about
A sushi conveyor belt and three minutes to decide
In Omakase Card Game, you're a chef in a busy sushi bar. The conveyor belt flows before you: glistening tuna, rare sea urchin, fresh salmon. Each turn, you choose — accumulate the most expensive ingredients hoping to complete the richest recipes, or play it safe with the cheaper ones and secure some points.
The 45 sushi cards form recipes to complete. The 17 action cards change the game: they allow you to steal ingredients, discard others' cards, defend what you've built. Every hand is a silent negotiation — who's aiming for what, who's already ready to close, who just drew the action that will ruin your plan.
It takes five minutes to learn, twenty to play. Once you get the rhythm, you'll want to play again immediately — because the next game, with the same people, will be completely different.
Sushi waits for no one. Those who hesitate are left with cold rice — those who are too bold end up with their recipe sabotaged in the penultimate turn.
The secret of Omakase in one line
Five minutes of rules, twenty minutes of game. You learn as you play, and by the third hand, you're already planning how to screw over the person to your right.
From the game experience
Omakase Card Game
What you have on the table
Four elements that make up the whole game
45 sushi cards
Cheap fish for those who want to play it safe, rare delicacies for those aiming for the big score. Each card is part of a recipe to be completed.
17 action cards
Steal, discard, defend. They are the moment when a quiet turn turns into a brawl at the counter — and everyone remembers it.
The conveyor belt
Cards slide across the center of the table. Everyone sees what's passing — and everyone has to decide before it's too late.
A minimal rulebook
One page with clear examples. Draw, draw from the belt, play an action, score sets. It's explained in five minutes — and you play right away.
The best sushi is the one you stole from your friend in the penultimate turn. It always happens with Omakase.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The sushi bar opens
The cards are shuffled, the conveyor belt is placed in the center of the table. Everyone has their hand, everyone looks at each other like opponents before a race. No one yet knows who will aim for tuna and who for cucumber.
The first rare ingredient
An expensive ingredient comes out, and everyone wants it. Someone tries to take it, another pulls out the first action card. The first laugh — or the first curse — is heard. The game has just shifted gears.
Recipes take shape
Each chef has set aside three or four cards — their intentions are now clear to everyone. It's time for silent alliances and sudden betrayals: those in the lead become targets, those behind hope to go unnoticed.
The action that turns everything around
There's always that card. A move that steals a recipe one round before closing, an action that forces someone to discard the very ingredient they were waiting for. The table explodes. The player with the best plan doesn't always win.
Scores are tallied — and played again immediately
Completed recipes are tallied. Someone wins with a big score, someone else with the patience of small sets. A few minutes later the cards are already shuffled — because twenty minutes is never enough, and everyone wants a rematch.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Four simple, repeating actions. You learn as you play, you master it by the third game.
At the beginning of your turn, you draw a card from the deck. It can be a sushi ingredient to add to your hand or an action card that you can use immediately or save for the right moment.
You can swap a card from your hand with one of the face-up cards on the conveyor belt. See what's there, decide what you really need — and what you leave for others.
Action cards change the game: they steal ingredients, force discards, protect your recipes. Timing and target make the difference between a memorable hit and a wasted action.
When you have the right ingredients, you declare the recipe completed and score points. The more complex the recipe, the more it's worth — but it's also riskier, as it takes longer to complete.
Why it works so well
Six elements that make Omakase different
Open drafting, not closed hand
The cards on the conveyor belt are visible to everyone. No secrets, no luck in drawing — just quick decisions on what to take and what to leave for the next person.
Balanced Take That on 17 actions
Aggression is not infinite: only 17 action cards in the entire deck. Whoever draws one chooses when to play it. No "constant sabotage," just key moments.
Two-speed set collection
You can aim for many small recipes or a few rich ones. These are different and equally valid strategies — the table naturally divides between cautious and ambitious players.
True 15-30 minutes
Not the "30 minutes" that turn into an hour. Games end when they should — and always leave you wanting to play again. Perfect filler to start or end an evening.
Really works with 6 players
Few card games hold up with 6 players without becoming very slow. Omakase is designed for large groups — and it's at its best with 5 or 6 players, with maximum chaos at the table.
Zero entry barriers
Even non-gamers understand the rules in the first hand. Experienced players still find interesting choices regarding timing and priorities. A true gateway — not a kids' game, but a game for everyone.
How to win
The chef with the most completed recipes wins the table
You don't win with just one brilliant move. You win by accumulating sushi sets turn after turn, knowing when to risk it for the rich recipe and when to settle for the inexpensive but safe dish.
Victory
- Complete the most sushi recipes during the game
- Rare recipes are worth more points, common ones are completed faster
- Knowing how to defend what you have as well as how to steal what you need
Defeat
- You're left with disconnected ingredients that don't form complete sets
- You bet everything on an ambitious recipe that someone sabotages on the last turn
- You spend action cards at the wrong moments and can't defend yourself when needed
Omakase Card Game is the filler you don't want to lend to anyone — because then you have to play it again immediately, and one game is never enough.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Omakase Card Game
What makes it different from Sushi Go?
Sushi Go is pure "pick and pass" closed-hand drafting — Omakase instead uses a central conveyor belt visible to everyone, where cards are swapped. It also adds 17 action cards that create direct interaction between players: stealing, discarding, defending. Result: less silent calculation, more chaos at the table. They are games on the same theme but with a completely different feel.
Is it worth it even if I already own other sushi games?
Yes, if you like direct interaction. Sushi Go and similar games are "clean" drafting games — Omakase is nastier, with real take-that and specific targets. It's a different experience, not a duplicate. And it works better with 5-6 players, where many sushi games start to lose pace.
Is it suitable for those who rarely play games?
It's one of the best gateway games available. The rules can be explained in five minutes, the first game plays smoothly, and everyone understands what's happening from the first turn. Get it if you expect people who don't usually play games — and if you want a game that also works for families with children aged 8 and up.
How many players does it work best with?
It's at its best with 5-6 players: the conveyor belt is full of choices, interactions multiply, chaos becomes part of the experience. With 4, it's balanced and tactical. With 3, it works but is more calculable — there are fewer targets and actions lose some of their fun. Still playable, but if you can, call a fourth.
Does it have a lot of take-that or is it a calm game?
The take-that is present and central, but it's limited to 17 action cards out of 62 total. This means you're not under constant attack — key moments happen where someone plays an action and changes the turn, but the rest of the time you plan and draw calmly. The right balance for those who want interaction without being overwhelmed.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The rules are brief, and the cards use symbols and icons more than text, so English is not a barrier to playing. Once the mechanics are explained, children aged 8 and up can play without problems even without knowing the language.
Omakase Card Game is a competitive sushi-themed card game for 3-6 players (ages 8+, duration 15-30 min). Main mechanics: Open Drafting, Set Collection, and Take That. It contains 45 sushi cards and 17 action cards for a total of 62 cards. Players are chefs in a sushi bar: they draw cards from the deck, swap them with face-up cards on the central conveyor belt, and use action cards to steal ingredients or sabotage opponents. The player who completes the most recipes wins. A fast filler and perfect gateway for families, parties, and new players. English edition 2025. Available on FroGames.it.
