HOW TO PLAY — LISBOA (in 5 steps)

1) Play cards to gain favors and activate main actions

Every turn you playa cardas an audience with a Character or you place it in your tableau to build permanent engines. The cards activate different areas of power:King,Marquis of PombalAndArchitects, each with different actions and bonuses. Your choice of card determines your entire strategy for the turn.

2) Rebuild the city with buildings, shops and licenses

Lisbon uses the real map of the historic center: each neighborhood hosts only certain types of businesses. To construct a building you must obtainlicenses, pay costs and respect the pre-established roads. Buildings determine the value of the zones and influence the score of theshopswhich you will open later.

3) Open businesses to generate income

The shops provideregular income, essential to sustaining your economy. Their strength depends both on their location and on the buildings in nearby areas. Investing at the right time can change the entire game.

4) Manage resources, influence and ecclesiastical power

The heart of the game is multi-level management:

Influenceto access character favors,
Moneyvariable according to the state of the Royal Treasury,
PermitsAndworkerswith costs that increase as your prestige grows.

Balancing these elements is essential to avoid getting stuck mid-game.

5) After a fixed number of rounds, whoever gets the most… wigs wins!
