1. From sand to science: your legacy takes shape.
In Inventors of the South Tigris , you are an innovator in the golden age of Islamic knowledge. In Baghdad, the beating heart of science in 850 AD, you compete with other brilliant minds to leave an indelible mark on the House of Wisdom . Your goal? Build revolutionary devices and accumulate Victory Points through inventions, tests, and publications.
2. A laboratory all your own, to make shine.
During your turn, you'll use workers and resources to upgrade your workshop , train artisans , build devices , and conduct research . Every action is a critical choice that opens new paths and blocks potential rivals: your artisans are not all created equal, and finding the right combination can be the key to dominance.
3. Devices, tests and publications: science in practice.
The heart of the game lies in the creation of the devices: first you invent them, then you build them, test them with uncertain results, and finally publish them to gain academic recognition. Each step brings you closer to success, but it must be carefully planned: a premature test or a failed publication can slow the entire process down.
4. Three Scientific Guilds, a thousand paths to emergence.
The competition isn't limited to your laboratory. You'll also need to influence the three Guilds (Mathematicians, Chemists, and Astronomers) to gain special powers and extra points. Your influence grows with every consistent move: specializing or diversifying will be your strategic choice.
5. Endgame: Knowledge is power.
The game ends when one player completes a certain number of publications. All points from devices, artisans, guilds, research, and laboratory development are then added together. Whoever has contributed the most to scientific progress triumphs, leaving their name engraved in Baghdad's history.
