The Golden River is a strategic board game (2–4) where you are a merchant on the richest river in the kingdom, allied with a samurai clan. Between ports, markets, and shrines, every choice is an investment: money today, influence tomorrow. The atmosphere is one of "important trade": deliveries, favors to the nobility, the right contracts at the right time. It's not just about making money: it's about becoming the dominant force on the river, demonstrating who really decides what passes... and what stays dry. At its core, it's a lean and clever Eurogame: you move along the river, activate opportunities, exploit a constantly vibrant market , and play multipurpose cards to shape your turn. Between majorities, set collections, and small tactical moves, the pace remains fast and downtime is minimal. Perfect as a board game for two players (tense and readable), but even more "political" with three or four players when the banks become contested. If you love elegant economics with clear and satisfying choices, here you'll find a river that flows... and carries away the undecided.
