Come si gioca
Il flusso di ogni turno
Hive non ha round o fasi: è un botta e risposta continuo fino all'accerchiamento.
Nel tuo turno scegli: o piazzi una nuova tessera dal tuo set personale (deve toccare solo i tuoi pezzi, mai quelli avversari direttamente), oppure muovi un pezzo già in gioco secondo il suo pattern di movimento specifico.
Ogni movimento deve lasciare l'alveare connesso: non puoi spostare un pezzo se così facendo dividi l'alveare in due parti separate. Questa regola crea blocchi tattici continui.
Entro il quarto turno DEVI giocare la tua ape regina. Fino a quel momento puoi solo piazzare, non muovere. Dopo averla giocata, puoi muovere qualsiasi tuo pezzo.
Se una regina (tua o sua) è completamente circondata da sei tessere (di qualsiasi colore), la partita finisce immediatamente. Chi ha la regina accerchiata perde. Pareggio se entrambe circondate nello stesso turno.

Il campo nasce dalle tue mani
Non c'è tabellone. Piazzi la prima tessera sul tavolo, lui ne piazza una accanto. Poi tu, poi lui. L'alveare si forma pezzo dopo pezzo, esagonale e irregolare. Ancora non sai dove andrà a parare, ma già ogni scelta conta: piazzi la regina presto o la tieni in mano?
La regina entra in gioco
Entro il quarto turno sei obbligato a giocare l'ape regina. Quello è il momento in cui il gioco passa da costruzione a guerra. Ora puoi muovere i pezzi, e ogni movimento è una dichiarazione: sto attaccando, sto difendendo, sto bluffando. L'alveare si stringe.
Vedi la mossa tre turni prima
Hai capito il suo piano. Sta portando la cavalletta in posizione per saltare e chiudere uno spazio critico attorno alla tua regina. Ma puoi fermarlo? Hai il ragno libero, ma se lo muovi liberi la sua formica. Oppure piazzi la coccinella e sacrifichi un turno di difesa per una minaccia futura. Ogni mossa ne condiziona tre.
Il blocco che non avevi visto
Muovi lo scarafaggio e realizzi troppo tardi che hai bloccato il tuo stesso ragno. Ora la tua regina ha solo due lati liberi, lui ne ha quattro. Ti mancano due turni per recuperare la simmetria, ma il tempo è finito. L'errore tattico che costa la partita.
L'accerchiamento
Lui piazza l'ultima formica. La tua regina è circondata. Sei caselle occupate, zero vie di fuga. Oppure sei tu che chiudi, e vedi la sua faccia quando capisce che è finita. In entrambi i casi: venti minuti netti, zero scuse.

Tre cose da sapere
Se giochi la tua prima partita contro uno che conosce Hive da anni, perderai senza capire perché. Gli astratti puri premiano l'esperienza in modo spietato: lui vede tre mosse avanti, tu vedi una. La buona notizia: impari in fretta, e ogni partita ti insegna qualcosa che la successiva userai contro di lui.
Hive base è solido ma prevedibile dopo venti partite. Coccinella, Zanzara e Porcellino di terra moltiplicano le opzioni tattiche e rendono obsolete le aperture standard. I giocatori competitivi giocano solo con tutte e tre (configurazione PLM). Questa edizione Ultimate le include tutte: parti subito con lo standard dei tornei.
Hive è informazione perfetta: vedi tutto, sai tutto, zero fortuna. Questo significa che ogni turno potresti calcolare tutte le varianti possibili. E alcuni giocatori lo fanno, per cinque minuti a mossa. Se giochi con qualcuno incline all'overthinking, preparati a partite da quaranta minuti invece di venti. Considera un timer da scacchi se la cosa ti infastidisce.

Vittoria
- Circondi completamente l'ape regina avversaria (sei tessere attorno, zero spazi liberi)
- L'avversario si blocca da solo e non può fare mosse legali nel suo turno (raro ma possibile)
- Pareggio se entrambe le regine vengono circondate nello stesso turno (capita quasi mai)
Sconfitta
- La tua ape regina viene completamente circondata
- Ti blocchi da solo e non hai mosse legali disponibili
- Commetti un errore tattico irreversibile che regala all'avversario l'accerchiamento in due turni

Che differenza c'è tra Hive base e Hive Ultimate?
Hive Ultimate include tutte e tre le espansioni (Coccinella, Zanzara, Porcellino di terra) più un libretto di strategie ufficiali. Hive base ha solo i cinque insetti originali (Regina, Ragno, Cavalletta, Scarafaggio, Formica). I giocatori competitivi considerano la configurazione PLM (con tutte le espansioni) lo standard per i tornei: Ultimate ti permette di giocare subito a quel livello senza comprare nulla a parte.
Serve un tabellone o un tavolo speciale?
No. Hive si gioca su qualsiasi superficie piana: tavolo, panchina, pavimento, spiaggia (basta che le tessere non volino via). I pezzi sono la mappa: piazzi le tessere esagonali una accanto all'altra e il campo di gioco si costruisce mossa dopo mossa. È uno dei pochi astratti davvero portatili: sta in una bustina con zip e pesa meno di trecento grammi.
Quanto è profondo strategicamente rispetto agli scacchi?
Hive ha meno varianti totali degli scacchi (la ricerca le stima nell'ordine di 10^30 contro i 10^120 degli scacchi), ma la profondità tattica è comunque enorme. La differenza vera è che Hive ha un albero decisionale più compatto: impari a giocare decentemente in dieci partite, mentre negli scacchi ci vogliono mesi. Ma come gli scacchi, ha una scena competitiva mondiale con tornei ufficiali e giocatori che studiano aperture e finali da anni.
Che meccaniche usa Hive Ultimate?
Tile placement (piazzi tessere esagonali), pattern movement (ogni insetto si muove in modo unico), enclosure (vinci accerchiando la regina), pieces as map (niente tabellone, i pezzi costruiscono il campo). È anche informazione perfetta: vedi tutto, sai tutto, zero elementi nascosti o casuali.
Questa edizione è in italiano?
Sì, Hive Ultimate edizione Ghenos Games è completamente in italiano (regolamento e libretto strategie). Le tessere non hanno testo, solo icone degli insetti: una volta imparate le regole la lingua non conta più. Esiste anche una versione Pocket più piccola con tessere in bachelite invece che in resina, ma questa è la versione standard da torneo.
