There are few rules. The challenge? Maximize scores and combinations with minimalist elegance. You'll have to place each chicken precisely , build coherent groups, and pursue variable objectives. Each breed has its own characteristics; some award special medals, others are worth a lot... but only if you place them in the right place.

1. Choose a hen and start building your coop.
In this abstract and competitive board game , each player takes on the role of a chicken farmer. Each round, you play a chicken card from your hand to build a harmonious coop in a 3x4 grid. The placement rules are simple, but they pose significant tactical challenges.
2. Place carefully: each breed has its own needs.
Chickens can only be played next to cards with compatible characteristics : same eggs, same strength, or weaker chickens. Creating large flocks of the same breed is essential for scoring points, but keeping everything under control won't be easy.
3. Earn medals and complete the match objective.
Some rare chickens provide bonus medals , which are worth extra points at the end of the game. Additionally, there's a common objective card that guides strategic choices, rewarding particular breeds, builds, or placement types.
4. The rooster gives you a hand… if you position it well.
At the start of the game, you receive a rooster token , which can be placed in the chicken coop to increase the value of your larger group . Using it at the right time is crucial to gaining a competitive advantage in the later rounds.
5. Whoever has the most harmonious and profitable chicken coop wins.
At the end of the game, the points of the largest group of the same breed , the medals , the rooster , and the game objective are added together. The player with the highest score is declared the best breeder. Hens is a light, strategic board game , perfect for families and fans of elegant puzzles.

In Hens , each card played is a hen finding its place in the yard: different breeds, placement limits, and a common goal — to form the perfect flock.

Hens – Abstract card-placing and chicken-coop-building board game
Hens is a compact and strategic board game for 1-4 players , perfect for families and lovers of abstract pattern-building games.
Each player is a chicken farmer who, turn after turn, must place breed cards on a grid following simple but binding rules: a hen can only be placed next to a similar or weaker one.
The goal is to form the largest possible flock of the same breed, maximize the rooster's bonus points, follow the match objective, and collect rare hens for medals.
Games last less than 20 minutes, but every decision matters. The game is language-neutral, visually appealing, and surprisingly deep.
Also ideal for solo play, Hens is the perfect balance between visual relaxation and a farmyard challenge.

At first glance, it might seem like just a cute game with chickens... but after the first turn, you realize that every card is a difficult decision disguised as a feather. Hens is one of those games that you scale with experience , where the more you play, the more you learn to spot patterns, twists, and possible combos.
Great for tabletop use, portable, super quick to explain but never trivial to win.
