D&D Reference Cards 2024 (5.5e)
Magic Items: Common and Uncommon
"The warrior opens the chest. You don't flip through the manual: you hand them a card. The reward becomes real, and stays on the table next to the dice."
What it's about
Loot leaves the manual and goes into players' hands
Magic Items: Common and Uncommon is the official deck of D&D 2024 reference cards dedicated to the treasure that appears most often at the table. It is part of the new line of D&D Reference Cards that updates and replaces the historical Spellbook Cards, featuring each item with text updated to the 5.5e rules.
Inside the box you'll find 59 common item cards and 117 uncommon item cards (176 magic items in total), plus 6 customizable cards for your homebrew items and one instruction card. Each card features official art from the manuals, so the reward becomes something the player actually holds in their hands.
The Common and Uncommon Magic Items cards serve one precise purpose: to deliver loot in seconds, reduce time spent looking up rules, and make treasure tangible, personal, and well-earned. An important note: the deck is in English, so the item text should be read in English.
The FroGames perspective
The essence of these cards in one line
Treasure ceases to be a line on a character sheet and becomes an object the player holds in their hand and enjoys rereading.
From table experience
When a potion or ring appears, you pass the card and the game doesn't stop: no one opens the manual, no one breaks the atmosphere.
Four tables, one deck
Who really needs this deck
It's not an "extra" accessory. The Common and Uncommon Magic Items cards change how treasure arrives at the table, and they do so for different audiences.
If you are a Dungeon Master
Distribute loot without stopping the scene. Draw the item card, hand it over, and continue. No pause to scroll through the Dungeon Master's Guide while the group waits for you to find the right page.
If you are a player
Keep your items in hand, not buried on a sheet. The card reminds you at a glance what the ring or potion you found does, without asking the DM to reread the rules every time.
If your table plays 2024
Common and uncommon items are the tier of items that appear most often in campaigns from level 1 onwards. This deck covers precisely that tier, the one you would use in practically every session of a new campaign.
If you love physical materials
Each card features official art from the 2024 manuals. The 6 customizable cards give you space for items you invent yourself, so the deck grows with your campaign instead of staying the same as everyone else's.
D&D Magic Items: Common and Uncommon
What you'll find in the box
Four types of cards, 183 in total
59 common item cards
The common magic items from 2024: potions, trinkets, and small aids that enter characters' hands from the early levels. Essential text and dedicated art on each card.
117 uncommon item cards
The uncommon tier, the heart of mid-campaign loot: weapons, rings, cloaks, and wands that make players feel more powerful without unbalancing the game.
6 customizable cards
Fill-in cards for your homebrew items. Invent an artifact tailored for your campaign and hand it over with the same dignity as the official ones.
1 instruction card
Explains how to organize the deck and use it at the table. It takes two minutes to read, and then you won't need it anymore: the system is immediate.
Honesty first and foremost
What you will NOT find inside the box
We'll tell you before you buy. This is a reference deck, not a complete game or a manual. Here's what it doesn't contain, so you know exactly what you're adding to your cart.
Rare and very rare items
This deck only covers common and uncommon items. For more powerful items, you'll need the twin deck "Magic Items: Rare and Very Rare," sold separately.
D&D rules
It's not a standalone game. To play, you'll need a copy of D&D 2024 at the table (Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide). The cards are a support, not a replacement.
Italian translation
The cards are in English. The item text is brief, but it must be read in English. If no one at the table is comfortable with the language, consider this before purchasing.
Spells or monsters
The D&D Reference Cards line has separate decks for spells and monsters. This box is dedicated only to common and uncommon magic items.
Extra blank cards
There are exactly 6 fill-in cards. They are intended for key items in your campaign, not for rebuilding an entire homebrew set from scratch.
Protective sleeves
Sleeves are not included. The cards are sturdy for normal use, but if you frequently pass them around a crowded table, consider protecting them separately.
No surprises
To use them tonight, you only need this
✅ You need…
- This deck, already sorted by rarity
- A copy of D&D 2024 at the table
- Basic knowledge of English to read the items
- Your group and an ongoing or new campaign
❌ You do NOT need…
- Apps or digital subscriptions
- Printing or photocopying item sheets
- The Rare and Very Rare deck to start
- Mandatory sleeves to play
The cards are in English, but the text for common and uncommon items is brief and repetitive: just a few sessions are enough to recognize each item at a glance. If someone at the table struggles with the language, you, as the Dungeon Master, can act as the first filter and hand over the card already explained verbally. And keep the 6 customizable cards aside for items you invent yourself: they are the simplest way to make your campaign unique.
"The beauty isn't finding the treasure. It's seeing it change hands and stay there, on the table, next to the dice."

Compatibility and how to use themWhat you need besides the deck
D&D 2024 (5.5e)
The item text follows the updated 2024 rules. This is the new official line that replaces the old Spellbook Cards.
Core Rulebooks
You need a copy of the Player's Handbook and ideally the Dungeon Master's Guide 2024 at the table. The cards speed up consultation, they don't eliminate it entirely.
English
The cards show names and text in English. For Italian tables, the Dungeon Master can act as a bridge, reading and presenting the already explained item.
Five moments at the table
How the evening changes with the deck in hand
The chest opens
The group has just cleared the crypt. There's a chest, and something shiny inside. Everyone looks at you.
You draw the right card
No manual, no bookmarks. You find the item card in the deck, already sorted by rarity, and keep it ready.
You hand it to the player
The item changes hands. The player reads what it does, looks at the art, and for a moment, it's truly theirs.
The card stays on the table
Next to the character sheet, next to the dice. It's not forgotten at the bottom of a page: it's seen, it's touched, it's used.
At the end of the campaign, it's a collection
The collected cards tell the story: each item is a memory of a session, a monster, a choice.
How to use it at the table
From loot to player's hand in four steps
Sort the deck
Before the session, separate common cards from uncommon ones. Two piles, and you always know where to draw from.
Loot appears
When characters find an item, you draw the corresponding card without interrupting the scene.
Hand over the card
You pass it to the owning player. From that moment on, managing the item is their responsibility, not yours.
Move on
No pause to update inventory or search for a page. The story doesn't stop, and you stay in the rhythm.
Honest comparison
Which deck from the line is for you

Why it's worth 24 euros
Six concrete reasons, not slogans
Covers the most common tier
Common and uncommon items are the loot you distribute in practically every campaign from the first level onwards. This is the deck you will use in every session.
176 items in one box
59 common and 117 uncommon: the richest item deck in the low and mid-tier. It's unlikely you'll be missing the card you need.
Official art on every card
The illustrations come from the 2024 manuals. Handing over an illustrated item is different from reading a line of text: it makes an impression.
6 cards for your homebrew
Customizable cards let you include your own invented items, in the same format as the official ones. Your campaign becomes unique.
Less manual, more play
You cut down on Dungeon Master's Guide consultations during loot distribution. The time you save goes back into storytelling and fun.
Aligned with 2024
The text follows the updated 5.5e rules. It is the official line that inherits from and surpasses the old Spellbook Cards.
Long-term value
An accessory you use in every campaign
The first campaign
From the very first session, the pace of the table changes: loot lands in players' hands, and you stop shuttling back and forth with the manual. The difference is noticeable immediately.
Campaign after campaign
Common and uncommon items appear in every adventure: the deck doesn't get old. You reuse it with new groups, new characters, and new stories, always the same.

Real questions
The questions you're asking yourself
Is it worth it if I already have the Dungeon Master's Guide?
Yes, because it solves a different problem. The manual is the complete reference, but searching for an item mid-session slows down the game. The cards give you the item ready to hand over in seconds, and they also become a physical object in the player's hand. They are two things that work together, not as alternatives.
Are the cards in Italian?
No, the deck is in English. However, the text for common and uncommon items is short and recurring, so it becomes familiar quickly. If someone at the table struggles with English, the Dungeon Master can read and verbally explain the item before handing it over.
Are they necessary for playing or just an accessory?
They are an accessory. They do not replace the manuals, and you don't play "with the cards" alone: they serve to distribute and manage treasure more quickly. To play, you still need a copy of D&D 2024 at the table.
Do they work with the old 5e from 2014?
They are designed for D&D 2024 (5.5e). Many common and uncommon items are similar between the two editions, but some texts have been updated: if you are still playing 5e from 2014, some cards might not perfectly match your manuals.
What items are included?
The deck contains 59 common items and 117 uncommon items from 2024, plus 6 customizable cards for your personalized items and one instruction card. A total of 183 cards. It covers the entire low and mid-tier of magic treasure.
Can I use them with D&D Beyond or digital tools?
Certainly. The cards are physical and independent of digital tools: you can manage everything on a tablet and still use the cards as an object to hand to players. Many tables keep them precisely for that gesture, even when the rest of the management is online.
The D&D Common and Uncommon Magic Items Reference Cards (Magic Items: Common and Uncommon Reference Cards) are the official Wizards of the Coast accessory for Dungeons & Dragons 2024 (5.5e), designed to hand loot directly to players. The deck includes 59 common item cards, 117 uncommon item cards, 6 customizable cards, and one instruction card, for a total of 183 cards in English, with official art from the manuals. Part of the new D&D Reference Cards line that replaces the Spellbook Cards, it is the ideal tool for Dungeon Masters and players who want to reduce Dungeon Master's Guide consultations and make every reward tangible. Compatible with D&D 2024 rules, recommended age 12+, available on FroGames.it.
