Someone reads the new crawler's sheet. Someone laughs, thinking about what to build. Someone says 'wait, can I play MYSELF?' And the evening has already begun.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
New crawlers, new stories, new descents into the World Dungeon
Crawler Chaos is the first expansion for Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable, the cooperative game by John D. Clair based on Matt Dinniman's novel series. Published by Renegade Game Studios, it introduces four new playable crawlers taken directly from the series and a brand new mechanic: the ability to build your character from scratch and bring them into the dungeon.
Katia the resilient, Imani the supporter, Prepotente the mage, and Archie the agile fighter join the roster. Each brings unique abilities, custom decks, and a story from the World Dungeon: Earth. The custom crawler mode allows you to choose backgrounds, abilities, and archetypes to create a character that reflects your playstyle, then put them to the test against the deadly levels of the dungeon.
What they say abroad
If you loved the base game, this expansion brings exactly what's needed: character variety and build depth.
— FroGames
The ability to create your own crawler completely changes replayability. Every descent becomes a sandbox of build theory.

Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable – Crawler Chaos
Crawler Chaos is designed for 1-2 players, and the solo experience is identical to multiplayer. Each crawler has a dedicated deck, narrative stories work perfectly solo, and custom creation allows you to test complex builds without waiting for a companion. It's one of those rare cases where the solo mode loses nothing.
The new roster
Four crawlers, four approaches to the dungeon
Katia
The tank of the group. Absorbs damage, protects allies, and holds her ground where others would fall. Her deck revolves around active defense and tactical sacrifice.
Imani
The supporter. Boosts other crawlers, distributes resources, and coordinates actions. Perfect for those who love to play from behind the scenes and see others shine.
Prepotente
The explosive mage. Casts devastating spells, manipulates the deck, and controls the battlefield. High risk, extremely high reward.
Archie
The agile brawler. Strikes fast, dodges counterattacks, and moves through the dungeon like a shadow. His deck rewards timing and positioning.
In a few hours, you'll have a crawler that seems straight out of your imagination. And a story to tell about how they died (or survived) in the World Dungeon.
A game in five acts
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose your crawler
Open the character cards. Read the abilities of Katia, Imani, Bully, Archie. Or open the custom creation system and start combining: backgrounds, archetypes, talents. Someone says 'I want to be a melee wizard'. Someone else 'I want a tank that casts spells'. The game begins here, in the build phase.
First level with the new character
You enter the dungeon with a deck you don't know yet. The first cards are surprises: Katia blocks a blow that would have eliminated the other crawler, Bully casts a spell that shatters the table, Archie dodges and counterattacks in one turn. You understand how your crawler transforms the game.
The narrative story unfolds
Each crawler carries a story from World Dungeon: Earth. Read the first paragraph. The tone changes, the dungeon becomes personal. You're not just building a deck, you're following a narrative arc. Someone reads aloud, someone else stays silent to avoid spoilers.
The moment the custom crawler works
You built a custom character with a crazy idea. And it works. The combo you had in mind manifests: three cards that trigger in a chain, an ability that turns the tide of the turn, a build that no one had ever tried. You look up from the table and say 'I did it myself'. That's the moment.
End of the descent
The final boss. Your crawler is at its limit, the deck is thinned out, the best cards are in play. Katia holds the line, Imani distributes the last resource, Bully finishes with a final spell. Or Archie dodges, hits, and wins by a hair. You survive or fall, but your crawler's story is complete.
How to play
The flow of each turn with the new crawlers
Crawler Chaos doesn't change Unstoppable's system, it expands it. The flow remains identical, but each crawler brings unique rules.
You draw the cards for the turn. Each crawler has a passive or activatable ability that modifies this phase: Katia generates shields, Imani distributes bonuses, Bully manipulates the deck.
You play cards. The new crawlers' abilities trigger based on the combos you build: some reward defense, others attack, others support. Custom creation allows you to design synergies before the game.
The dungeon reacts. Narrative stories can add specific events, conditions, or objectives related to your crawler. It's not just survival, it's plot progression.
Add cards to your deck, upgrade equipment, unlock new abilities. Each crawler has a unique pool of upgrades that reflects its style. The build is refined turn by turn.
Why it's different from others
Six reasons why Crawler Chaos is essential
Four new playable crawlers
Katia, Imani, Bully, and Archie are not simple variants. Each has a dedicated deck, unique abilities, and a precise identity. If Unstoppable seemed repetitive with the same characters, this expansion multiplies the available strategies. Each crawler plays radically differently.
Custom crawler creation system
The real novelty. Choose backgrounds, archetypes, talents and build a character from scratch. Do you want a tank wizard? An aggressive support? A brawler who casts spells? The system gives you the tools to design the perfect build even before entering the dungeon. It's pure sandbox.
Narrative stories from World Dungeon: Earth
Each crawler brings an untold story from Matt Dinniman's universe. These are not just flavor texts thrown in: they are narrative arcs that unfold level by level, with events, choices, and consequences. The dungeon becomes personal, the descent becomes a campaign.
Exponential replayability
Base Unstoppable gave you some fixed characters. Crawler Chaos adds four new rosters plus infinite custom combinations. Every game can be an experiment: a never-before-tried build, a never-tested crawler, a never-before-seen synergy. Replayability goes from high to practically infinite.
Perfect integration
It's not an expansion that overhauls. It's an expansion that slips into the existing system seamlessly. If you know Unstoppable, just add Crawler Chaos to your setup and play immediately. The new mechanics integrate naturally, no rules to rewrite.
Depth for those seeking the perfect build
If you're the type who spends hours optimizing your deck, this expansion is for you. Custom creation allows you to theorize complex combinations before the game, then test them in the dungeon. It's the puzzle side of Unstoppable taken to the max.
How it ends
How to win and how to survive
Crawler Chaos doesn't change the basic victory conditions, but it adds narrative layers and character-specific objectives.
Victory
- Complete all dungeon levels with your crawler still alive
- Fulfill the narrative objectives of your character's story
- Build a deck strong enough to defeat the final boss
Elimination
- Your crawler runs out of health and is eliminated from the dungeon
- Fail a critical narrative story objective (in some campaigns)
- The deck runs out without being able to complete the turn
Crawler Chaos is what happens when an expansion understands what the base game really needed: more characters, more freedom, more stories. If Unstoppable captivated you, this is a must-have.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable – Crawler Chaos
Can I play Crawler Chaos without the base game?
No. Crawler Chaos is an expansion for Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable. It requires the base game to function: it adds crawlers, stories, and custom creation mechanics, but does not include the essential cards and components of the system.
How does the custom crawler creation system work?
You choose a background (e.g., warrior, mage, rogue), an archetype (e.g., tank, support, damage dealer), and a series of unique talents. Each choice influences the starting deck, abilities, and available upgrades. Then you enter the dungeon with that character and develop them as you would with predefined crawlers. It's a modular system that rewards build theory and planning.
Are narrative stories mandatory?
No. You can use the new crawlers and the custom system without following the stories. But the stories add events, objectives, and narrative context that make each descent unique. If you like the narrative side of Dungeon Crawler Carl, the stories are the main reason to get this expansion.
How much does it increase game length?
The base duration remains similar. Custom creation can add 10-15 minutes to initial setup (if it's your first time building a character), but game flow doesn't slow down. Narrative stories don't lengthen turns, they unfold between levels.
Is it available in Italian?
No. This edition is in English. It includes cards, rulebook, and narrative stories in the original language. It requires a good understanding of English, especially to follow the stories and manage the abilities of the new crawlers.
