It's finally getting serious. Your Clan against theirs — and only the weakest member of the team counts.
What it's about
Clan Wars finally comes to the tabletop
Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid was already a village-building, dice-rolling, and raiding game by Eric M. Lang and Ken Gruhl for Maestro Media. The Clan Wars Expansion takes everything to the next level with the mode mobile game fans have been waiting for: Clan Wars.
Three teams of two face off, but beware — the Clan whose weakest member performed best wins. You can't win alone: you have to help your teammate grow, coordinate donations, and use new spell cards to disrupt opponent's plans at the least expected moment.
Hidden traps defend the village with a touch of bluff. New units open up unprecedented combos. Up to six players at the table — and every game tells a different story of betrayals, tactics, and Clan rivalries.
Victory belongs to the Clan, not the individual. If your ally sinks, you sink together — and this changes every decision at the table.
The secret of Clan Wars in a nutshell
A spell card played at the right moment can demolish your opponent's best plan in the middle of their turn. Few games give you this power.
From the game experience
Clash of Clans: Clan Wars Expansion
What this expansion adds
Four new layers of gameplay
Clan Wars Mode
Three teams of two battle it out. The Clan with the highest minimum score wins — not the top scorer. Cooperation is not optional.
Spell Cards
Played during opponents' turns. Interrupt, boost, destabilize. At the moment no one expects it.
Trap Tokens
Placed face down, they add bluff to village defense. You never know what awaits you until you attack.
New Units
Open up unprecedented combos with the base set. Every new unit is an attack plan — and a threat to calculate when your opponent has it.
Build your village, raid bases, win for your Clan. Once you play the Clan Wars Expansion, there's no going back.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Clans form. Allies are chosen.
Even before placing the first worker, you already understand how each player plays. The more aggressive one wants to raid. The more defensive one accumulates resources. You can't change your ally — get to know them quickly.
The village takes shape. Traps are hidden.
Every tile you add is a choice: points now or resources for later? And while building, you place traps face down. Your opponent doesn't know what awaits them until they attack. You do — and that's already half the victory.
The first raid. The dice speak.
Troops advance. Dice decide who passes and who is blocked. But units count as much as numbers — a Dragon jumps over walls, a Giant absorbs hits. When the dust settles, the opponent has lost points, but their village is already ready to rise again.
The spell no one expected.
It's the opposing Clan's turn. They move, build, attack. Then it comes. You play the spell card — during their turn, in the middle of their best action. The table freezes. Someone laughs, someone curses. This move will be talked about for weeks.
Scores are compared. The Clan wins, not the individual.
End of game. Stars are counted. But beware — the lowest score of each team is considered, not the highest. The Clan that raised both wins. The one that left their teammate behind, no — even if their top player dominated. The kick at the table teaches more than victory.
How to play
The flow of each round in Clan Wars mode
The basic game phases remain — but the logic changes with the team mechanic.
Each player places their workers in order, choosing between building, recruiting troops, defending, or attacking. The best actions can only be occupied by one player — coordination with your Clanmate is everything.
The new shared area allows resources to be deposited that your teammate can collect on their turn. It's not mandatory — but if your ally is in trouble, that donation can make the difference between Clan defeat and victory.
Troops advance tile by tile in the opposing village. Dice determine each clash, units add modifiers. Hidden traps are revealed when activated — bluffing and surprise are an integral part of defense.
Spell cards are played as a reaction during opponents' turns. Stars are counted, scores are compared. When at least one player reaches 40 stars, the highest lowest score per Clan is counted.
Why it's different from the base game
Six mechanics that change everything
Shared victory, shared responsibility
The team's lowest score is what counts. You can't win alone — you also have to support your ally. This rule transforms every match into a continuous tactical conversation.
Interrupting spells
Spell cards are played during other players' turns. This completely changes the pace of the game: you must always expect the unexpected, even when it's not your turn.
Traps with integrated bluffing
Placed face down, traps add an informational dimension to combat. Attacking a village becomes a tactical gamble, not just a calculation of forces.
Clan donation system
The shared area in the center of the board allows resource transfers between teammates. A simple mechanism that creates very strong moments of tactical interdependence.
New units, new combos
Units introduced by the expansion combine with the base set in unforeseen ways. Each game generates different attack strategies — there isn't just one winning combo.
Up to 6 players at the table
The base game supports up to 4. Clan Wars brings the number to 6 — three teams of two for a full-scale war. The diplomatic tension between Clans adds a whole new layer.
How it ends
The Clan wins, not the individual
Clan Wars mode introduces a collective victory logic that overturns individual priorities.
Clan Victory
- When at least one player reaches 40 stars, the minimum score of each Clan is calculated
- The Clan with the highest minimum score wins — it counts who was furthest behind, not who did the most
- In standard mode (not team), the individual player with the most stars wins
Defeat
- Your Clan loses if its weakest member has fewer stars than other teams
- Dominating alone is not enough — if you left your teammate behind, you both lost
- There is no elimination during the game: you can always recover with a good donation or a successful raid
Clan Wars Expansion is the expansion that transforms The Epic Raid into an authentic team experience. Your Clan. Your war. Your glory.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Clash of Clans: Clan Wars Expansion
Is it mandatory to play in team mode with this expansion?
No. The Clan Wars Expansion adds 2v2v2 team mode, but you can also use the new units, traps, and spell cards in standard base game matches. Clan Wars mode is the main content, but the expansion also adds value for those who play without teams.
How does team scoring work? I don't understand the "minimum score" rule.
Each Clan consists of two players. At the end of the game, the lowest score between the two is considered — not the highest. The Clan whose weakest member scored more stars than the other "weak links" wins. This means that scoring 35 stars alone is not enough if your teammate has 10: your Clan's result is 10. Coordination and support for your ally therefore become as fundamental as your individual performance.
Can spell cards be used at any time?
Yes, spell cards are designed to be played as a reaction during opponents' turns. This is their main strategic value: they interrupt or modify an enemy action at the moment it is performed. They add an element of surprise and reaction absent in the base game.
Do I need the base game? Can I just buy this expansion?
The Clan Wars Expansion requires Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid to function — it is not a standalone game. It is an expansion in the full sense: it adds content and rules to an already complete experience, but it does not include the material needed to play from scratch.
Does setup take a long time with 6 players?
Adding two players compared to the base game's maximum slightly increases setup and playtime. With 6 experienced players, a game is around 90 minutes. With new players, it's advisable to play at least one 4-player game before trying the full Clan Wars mode.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The game primarily uses text on unit and spell cards — basic knowledge of English is recommended to play independently, but the icons make many actions understandable visually.
