Behind the apparent simplicity of a deck of cards lies a refined deductive engine. In Alibi , each player receives a set of cards representing their knowledge and movements during the time of the crime. This information is fragmentary and personal: only by putting the pieces of the puzzle together, through questions and revelations, can the group reconstruct what happened.
The system's brilliance lies in information asymmetry. The murderer knows he's a murderer and must steer the investigation away from himself, exploiting gaps in the stories of others. The innocent, on the other hand, must understand which contradictions are the result of simple misunderstandings and which are deliberate lies. There's no master, no app: it's just you and your ability to read between the lines.
