FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
A composer dies, his sonata remains unfinished. The last note hides a crime — and now it's your turn to play it.
What it's about
A crime in the key of violin
SherBlock Holmes: The Unfinished Sonata is a detective gamebook written by Manuele Giuliano, with illustrations by Adriano Donato La Vitola, published by Dracomaca. Half mystery, half notepad: you don't just read it, you investigate it. A melody left unfinished, a composer found lifeless, and an enigma unfolding amidst scores, suspects, and plot twists.
As in every SherBlock, you play both Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, flipping the block every time the text turns red. Between deductions and enigmas, you collect "pipes" — your score — aiming for 100. In The Unfinished Sonata, every clue is a note to be put back in its place: will you be able to complete the score and unmask the culprit?
The spirit of the game
The truth is an interrupted melody. It's up to you to find the missing note before the curtain falls.
The secret of SherBlock in one line
Flip the block and change your mind: first Holmes' intuition, then Watson's perspective. One case, two minds.

What to expect
Inside the investigation
Dual perspective
You are Holmes and Watson together. Just flip the block when the text turns red to change your point of view.
A musical mystery
Scores, suspects, and an interrupted melody. The musical theme weaves clues and deductions in an unconventional way.
The 100 pipes
Every correct choice and solved enigma earns you pipes. Reaching 100 is a real challenge for the best detectives.
Interactive file
A notepad to experience: you make notes, deduce, and sometimes manipulate the pages as part of the enigma.
In an hour and a half you will have completed the score — or almost. And you'll want to reread it from the other point of view. It always happens with SherBlock.

An investigation in five acts
What happens when you play
Not the plot. The experience.
A sonata breaks
A composer dies, his last melody unfinished. Behind the bitter notes lies a crime. The case is open — and you're already in, amidst scores and initial suspicions.
Two ears on the case
The text turns red: flip the block. Now you hear the scene with Holmes' intuition, then with Watson's precision. Only by combining the two perspectives does the melody recompose.
Between scores and suspects
Gather clues among staves and witnesses, solve riddles, follow the logical thread of the case. Each correct deduction earns you pipes; each false step makes you lose them. The tension rises.
Stuck? There's help
If a riddle stumps you, at the back of the block you'll find hints: they'll show you the way, or the solution. But each consultation costs 3 pipes. Ask for help or risk it alone? You decide.
The final note
The score is complete, the truth rings clear. Close the case and count your collected pipes: did you reach 100? Whatever your score, the desire to reread everything from the other side remains.
How to play
The flow of the investigation
Four simple actions, repeated until the solution. You start immediately, with no preparation.
Follow the story and make decisions at crossroads. Each choice opens a different direction for the investigation.
When red text appears, flip the notebook: you switch from Sherlock to Watson and vice versa.
Tackle the puzzles and collect pipes. If you get stuck, the hints at the back will save you — at the cost of 3 pipes.
Reach the truth and count your collected pipes. The true goal for the best investigators is 100.
Why it's different from others
Six things that make it special
Two protagonists in one
Holmes and Watson in the same block. Flip the pages to change perspective: a simple idea that doubles the immersion.
A musical mystery
An unfinished sonata and the death of its composer: an unusual theme that intertwines music, mystery, and deduction in an original way.
The pipe system
A score that rewards those who deduce best. Reaching 100 pipes is tough: there's always a good reason to replay and improve.
Interactive notebook
Not just reading: the pages can be annotated and sometimes manipulated as part of the enigma. A format that is experienced, not just skimmed.
Gothic and macabre atmosphere
A dance of death in violin clef and illustrations by Adriano Donato La Vitola. The gloomy mood of the mystery-thriller is served.
Pocket-sized, ready anywhere
A compact format that fits in your bag: investigate on the train, while traveling, or on the couch. Your case to solve, always with you.
How it ends
The pipes tell what kind of detective you are
In the end, the case always closes: you never get stuck here. But how many pipes will you have in your pocket? The score tells whether you've completed the score or just glimpsed the truth.
How to win
- Solve the case and unmask the culprit
- Collect as many pipes as possible during the investigation
- The ultimate challenge: reaching 100 pipes
Where pipes are lost
- Wrong choices at the crossroads of the investigation
- Missed or partially solved riddles
- Each hint consulted costs 3 pipes — use them wisely
SherBlock Holmes: The Unfinished Sonata is a mystery to be experienced with paper and deduction. Immersive, challenging, and perfect to take anywhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about SherBlock Holmes: The Unfinished Sonata
Is it a one-time play?
Like any mystery, the mystery is solved once. But here there are two good reasons to pick up the block again: the double perspectives of Holmes and Watson, which tell the investigation from different angles, and the pipe score — reaching 100 is difficult and encourages replaying to improve. Expect multiple readings before feeling truly finished.
Do I need to understand music to play?
No. Music is the theme and atmosphere of the case, not a test to pass: you don't need to know how to read a score or understand music theory. The heart of the game is the investigation — observing, deducing, and connecting clues. Anyone can solve The Unfinished Sonata, music lovers or not.
Is it played solo or with company?
It's designed as a solo experience: you coordinate Holmes and Watson yourself by flipping the block. That said, there's nothing to stop you from experiencing it with two people, discussing the riddles and choices together — the important thing is to share the same case.
Do I need to have played the other SherBlocks?
No. Each SherBlock is a self-contained case: you can easily start with The Unfinished Sonata without knowing the previous chapters. If you then get hooked, there are other adventures in the series to catch up on.
How long does a game last?
About 90 minutes to reach the solution, but the time increases if you try to collect all 100 pipes and explore both perspectives. The 92 pages offer a dense experience for the pocket-sized format.
What is a "liblockgame"?
It's the format created by Dracomaca: half mystery gamebook, half investigative notebook. A spiral-bound block that isn't just read, but flipped through, turned over, and sometimes manipulated as part of the investigation itself.
SherBlock Holmes: The Unfinished Sonata is an investigative gamebook for 1 player (recommended age 10+, duration approx. 90 minutes).
