FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
A window explodes at 221B, fog engulfs Baker Street. From here on, you are the detective — and his loyal Watson too.
What it's about
An investigation amidst the fog of London
SherBlock Holmes: The Veil of Maya is an investigative gamebook by Benedetta Beltrame and Jonathan Isoardo — the Enigmos — with illustrations by Adriano Donato La Vitola, published by Dracomaca. Half mystery, half notepad: you don't just read it, you investigate it. Strange thefts and sinister presences stir the misty streets of the city, and it's up to you to unravel the mystery.
The particularity of every SherBlock is the dual perspective: you play both Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, flipping the block whenever the text turns red. Between stakeouts, deductions, and enigmas, you collect "pipes" — your score — aiming for 100. In The Veil of Maya, the truth is hidden beyond appearances: will you manage to tear through the veil?
The spirit of the game
You don't turn pages: you interrogate them. Every clue is a fold in the veil to be lifted.
The secret of SherBlock in one line
Flip the block and change your mind: first Holmes' intuition, then Watson's perspective. One case, two heads.

SherBlock Holmes: The Veil of Maya
What awaits you
Inside the investigation
Dual perspective
You are Holmes and Watson together. Just flip the block when the text turns red to change perspective.
Puzzles and deductions
Stakeouts, clues, and riddles to solve. This chapter is considered the most difficult in the series.
The 100 pipes
Every correct choice and solved enigma earns pipes. Reaching 100 is a real challenge for the best detectives.
Interactive case file
A living notepad: you annotate, deduce, and sometimes manipulate pages as part of the puzzle.
In an hour and a half, you'll have solved the case — or almost. And you'll want to reread it from the other point of view. It always happens with SherBlock.

An investigation in five acts
What happens as you play
Not the plot. The experience.
The explosion at 221B
Watson arrives at Baker Street and sees a suspicious figure hurrying out. A moment later, an explosion shatters Holmes' window. The case is open — and you're already in it.
Two minds, one mystery
The text turns red: flip the block. Now you see the scene through Holmes' eyes, then again through Watson's. Only by combining both perspectives does the picture begin to form.
Stakes and puzzles
Through foggy alleys and sinister encounters, collect clues and solve riddles. Each correct deduction earns you pipes; each false step costs you some. The tension rises with every page.
Stuck? There's help
If a puzzle resists you, at the back of the block you'll find hints: they'll guide you, or give you the solution. But each consultation costs 3 pipes. Ask for help or risk it alone? You decide.
Tear the Veil of Maya
Appearances fall away, the truth emerges. Close the case and count the pipes collected: did you reach 100? Whatever the score, the ending leaves you wanting to reread everything from the other side.
How to play
The flow of the investigation
Four simple actions, repeated until the solution. You start immediately, no preparation needed.
Follow the story and make decisions at crossroads. Each choice opens a different direction in the investigation.
When red text appears, flip the notebook: you switch from Sherlock to Watson and vice-versa.
Tackle the riddles and collect pipes. If you get stuck, the hints at the back will save you — at the cost of 3 pipes.
Reach the truth and count the pipes collected. The true goal for the best investigators is 100.
Why it's different from others
Six things that make it special
Two protagonists in one
Holmes and Watson in the same block. Flip the pages to change perspective: a simple idea that doubles the immersion.
Puzzles that truly challenge you

The pipe system
A scoring system that rewards good deduction. Reaching 100 pipes is tough: there's always a good reason to replay and improve.
Interactive notebook
Not just reading: pages are annotated and sometimes manipulated as part of the puzzle. A format you experience, not just browse.
Victorian atmosphere
Foggy London, unsettling presences and illustrations by Adriano Donato La Vitola. The mystery-thriller mood is served.
Pocket-sized, ready anywhere
A compact format that fits in your bag: investigate on the train, while traveling or on the sofa. Your case to solve, always with you.
How it ends
The pipes tell what kind of detective you are
In the end, the case always closes: you never get stuck here. But how many pipes will you have in your pocket? The score tells if you have truly torn the veil or only glimpsed the truth.

Frequently asked questions
FAQ about SherBlock Holmes: The Veil of Maya
Can it only be played once?
Like any mystery, the puzzle is solved once. But here there are two good reasons to pick up the block again: the dual perspectives of Holmes and Watson, which tell the investigation from different angles, and the pipe score — reaching 100 is difficult and encourages replaying to improve. Expect multiple readings before it truly feels concluded.
Is it too difficult?
It is considered the most challenging chapter in the SherBlock series, so puzzle lovers will adore it. But no one gets stuck: at the back of the block there are hints that show the way or the solution (at the cost of some pipes), so you can always reach the ending, even if a puzzle resists you.
Is it played solo or with others?
It is designed as a solo experience: you coordinate Holmes and Watson yourself by flipping the block. That said, nothing prevents you from experiencing it with a partner, reasoning together about the puzzles and choices — the important thing is to share the same case.
Do you need to have played the other SherBlocks?
No. Each SherBlock is a self-contained case: you can easily start with The Veil of Maya without knowing the previous chapters. If you get hooked, there are other adventures in the series to catch up on.
How long does a game last?
About 90 minutes to reach the solution, but the time increases if you try to collect all 100 pipes and explore both perspectives. The 92 pages offer a dense experience for the pocket-sized format.
What is a "liblockgame"?
It's the format created by Dracomaca: half mystery gamebook, half investigative notebook. A spiral-bound block that is not just read, but browsed, flipped, and sometimes manipulated as part of the investigation itself.
SherBlock Holmes: The Veil of Maya is an investigative gamebook for 1 player (recommended age 12+, duration approximately 90 minutes). Written by Benedetta Beltrame and Jonathan Isoardo (Enigmos), illustrated by Adriano Donato La Vitola and published by Dracomaca. Main mechanic: deduction and branching narrative, with a dual perspective — you embody both Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson by flipping the block when the text turns red. Through stakes, clues, and puzzles, "pipes" are collected (score, up to 100), with optional hints that cost pipes. Setting: a foggy Victorian London plagued by thefts and sinister presences, in a case to be solved to tear the veil of Maya.
