FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Someone invents an absurd rule. Someone writes it on a waterproof card. And by the third beer, everyone forgets how they used to play.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
The completionist's pack for those who want more chaos (and beer) in the dungeon
This booster pack collects all the House Rules born during the Kickstarter campaign of the first Heroes of Barcadia, plus a handful of new ones. Designed by Madison O'Neil (designer and artist of the base game), it's for those who have already explored the alcoholic dungeon and want to add an extra layer of unpredictability. Or simply collect everything.
Inside you'll find 20 ready-made House Rules cards (variant rules that shake up games), 8 DIY cards on which to write your crazy rules with a permanent marker, and a reference card. Everything is laminated, waterproof, resistant to beer spills, foam, and whatever liquid you decided to bring to the table that night. It does not include the base game — this is pure fuel for chaos.
What they say abroad
For those who think Heroes of Barcadia is already crazy enough, this pack responds: 'Hold my beer.'

Heroes of Barcadia: House Rules Booster Pack
What's in the box
28 laminated cards + 1 reference
20 House Rules
Ready-made variant rule cards. Some reward, some punish, all of them shake things up. Like: 'Whoever loses a fight drinks twice', 'Every critical hit is celebrated with a collective toast'.
8 DIY Cards
Blank writable cards with a permanent marker. Invent your own house rule, write it down, laminate it forever. It's a bit like getting a tattoo of an inside joke from the table.
1 Reference Card
Quick summary of how to integrate House Rules into the basic flow. Useful when you've already had a few drinks and can't remember how anything works anymore.
Waterproof PVC 0.3mm
Plastic material resistant to any liquid. Beer, wine, rum, tears of those who lost too many HP. Wipes clean with a cloth, looks like new again.
Between one beer and the next, someone will pull out a DIY card written three months ago. No one will remember who invented it. Everyone will apply it.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table with House Rules active
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose your House Rules
Before starting, the table decides which House Rules to activate. Someone suggests 'Collective toast on every critical hit'. Someone else wants 'Whoever dies chooses who drinks in their place'. They vote, they laugh, they shuffle them into the tile deck. The game hasn't even started yet and it's already different from last time.
The first House Rule comes into play
Someone draws a tile with a House Rule icon. The card is revealed. It's 'Every time you open a door, drink'. The dungeon has seven doors. Everyone looks at each other. Chaos has officially begun.
Someone proposes a DIY rule
Halfway through the dungeon, after three beers and two eliminations, someone says: 'If you die against a Goblin, you must narrate how you died in the third person'. It's written on a DIY card. It becomes permanent canon for all future games.
Rules overlap
Now three House Rules are active simultaneously. 'Toast on every critical hit', 'Whoever loses HP drinks', 'Every open door is a sip'. A player opens a door, draws a monster, rolls a critical hit, but still takes damage. Four actions, four sips. The dungeon is secondary.
End of game (maybe)
The final boss is dead or all players are eliminated. It doesn't matter. What matters are the three DIY cards written tonight, now laminated forever. The next time you play, you'll find them again. And you'll remember this evening.
How it integrates
The booster's flow in base games
House Rules don't change the core loop of Heroes of Barcadia. They add layers of consequences (and sips) on top of existing mechanics.
Before starting, the table decides how many and which House Rules to activate (recommended: 3-5 per game). They are shuffled into the deck or kept visible as global rules, depending on the card.
Some House Rules are activated by specific events (opening a door, critical hit, death, end of turn). When the event occurs, the rule applies immediately. Drink, toast, or apply the special effect.
At any time, the table can propose a new house rule. If everyone agrees (or is drunk enough), it's written on a DIY card with a permanent marker. It becomes permanent.
If a House Rule makes the game unplayable (it happens), the table can vote to remove or replace it. DIY cards can be erased with rubbing alcohol if the rule was truly bad.
Why it's different from other boosters
Six reasons why this pack is not just 'more cards'
100% waterproof, truly
It's not laminated paper that gets ruined at the first drop. It's 0.3mm PVC, the same material as professional waterproof playing cards. Spill beer, wipe it clean, keep playing. We've seen cards survive three years of college parties.
8 writable DIY cards
Half the pack are customizable blank cards. Write your rule with a permanent marker, and it becomes a permanent part of the game. It's a bit like signing a pub wall, but in a tabletop version. The best House Rules always emerge mid-game.
Rules born from Kickstarter
The 20 included House Rules aren't made up out of thin air. They are the most voted and requested by the community during the Kickstarter campaign. Some are brilliant, others are crazy, all tested in hundreds of real alcoholic games.
Compatible with any expansion
It doesn't matter if you only play the base game or if you have all Barcadia expansions. The House Rules fit into any setup. They even work with homebrew variants you've invented yourself.
Pocket size
28 cards + reference fit in a small box. You can take them to friends' houses, on vacation, to the bar (if the bar lets you play alcoholic dungeon crawlers). It weighs less than a can, takes up less space than a deck of UNO.
Scale chaos to your liking
Want a quiet game? Activate 1-2 soft House Rules. Want delirium? Activate 6, add the craziest DIYs you wrote, and get ready. The pack gives you control over how much you want to warp the base experience.
How it ends
Victory (and alcoholic defeat) conditions
The booster does not change the victory conditions of the base game. It changes how much fun (or suffering) you have along the way.
Victory
- Same as the base game: defeat the final boss, complete the dungeon objective, or survive longer than others
- Moral victory: you wrote a DIY card so brilliant that the table will use it forever
- Practical victory: you are the only one still sober at the end of the game
Elimination
- Same as the base game: zero HP, special dungeon condition, or catastrophic event
- Alcoholic defeat: you are too drunk to continue (House Rules greatly accelerate this scenario)
- Social defeat: you proposed a DIY card so bad that the table voted you out
This booster doesn't make Heroes of Barcadia more strategic. It makes it more yours. Each group will write their own DIY cards, activate their favorite House Rules, and in the end, they'll have a version of the game that doesn't exist on any other shelf.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Heroes of Barcadia: House Rules Booster Pack
Do I need the base game to use this booster?
Yes, it's mandatory. This pack only contains House Rules (variant rules) and DIY cards. It does not include dungeon tiles, miniatures, dice, or the base rulebook. It's designed to expand a game you already own, not replace it.
Are the DIY cards really writable and erasable?
Writable yes, with a permanent marker. Erasable... technically yes, with rubbing alcohol or acetone, but the process slightly damages the surface. The idea is to write rules you want to keep forever. If you want to test first, write on a piece of paper and only transcribe it when you're sure.
How many House Rules are recommended to activate per game?
For a first experience: 2-3 cards, chosen from the simpler ones. For experienced base game players: 4-6 cards, even overlapping ones. For total chaos: all of them, plus the craziest DIYs you wrote three months ago while drunk. The game scales well, but too many layers make the dungeon unplayable (and sometimes that's the point).
Do the cards really resist liquids or is that marketing?
They really do resist. They are 0.3mm PVC, the same material as professional waterproof cards used in poker rooms and casinos. We've seen these cards survive beer, wine, cocktail spills, and once even a spilled bottle of gin. They clean with a damp cloth. The only thing that ruins them is fire (don't ask).
Is it available in Italian?
No, this edition is in English. The cards contain text (variant rules), so language matters. That said, the English used is simple and direct — if you have a basic grasp of the language or someone at the table who can translate on the fly, it's very playable. You write the DIY cards yourself, so those will be in your preferred language.
