WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Ten minutes, a saloon, and someone won't make it out alive
High Noon at Showdown Saloon is a western card game by D. Brad Talton Jr., designer of BattleCON and founder of Level 99 Games. It is part of the new Minigame Library 2, a collection of pocket-sized games designed to bring dense mechanics to the table in compact formats. Talton, known for blending video game ideas with tabletop design, brings a fast-paced card duel for 1 or 2 players set in the Old West.
You play cards in the saloon lineup: each character has different abilities and influences the queue. You place bounties to alter the final outcome. Once certain conditions are met, it's time to shoot. Whoever has arranged the cards in their favor wins the duel. The mechanics revolve around card connections, multiple use of the same cards, and conflict resolution through card play. All in 10 minutes.

High Noon at Showdown Saloon
The game officially supports solo play (min 1 player). We don't yet know the details of the solo system, whether it uses an automa or dedicated scenarios. The short duration (10 min) makes it practical for quick solo sessions, but the true experience is probably in the head-to-head duel.

🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each turn
Each turn is one move in the duel: play a card, activate effects, advance towards high noon.
Choose a card from your hand and place it in the saloon's lineup. Each card has an effect and a role: gunfighter, townsfolk, or drifter.
Activate the ability of the character you just played. Some cards create connections with others already on the table, while others modify the position of bounties.
If you have any, you can place a bounty to alter the final outcome. Bounties are the tactical twist that turns games around.
Once certain card conditions on the table are met, it's time to draw. You count points, resolve connections, and bounties. The player with the strongest lineup wins the duel.
⏱️Your first gameThe chronicle, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Initial setup
Choose your character and draw your starting cards. The saloon is empty, but the tension is already palpable: every card you play now builds your position for the final duel. You watch your opponent, trying to understand their strategy.
The lineup fills up
Cards begin to populate the saloon. Gunfighters, townsfolk, drifters. Each with their own ability, each shifting the balance. Connections between cards become visible: a wrong move now costs dearly later.
The first bounty
Someone places a bounty. Everything that seemed decided falters. The bounty alters the outcome, shifts points, overturns hierarchies. You realize the game isn't what you thought it was five seconds ago.
Towards high noon
Almost all cards are on the table. The timer advances. Every decision now is final: play that card or hold it? Build another connection or place a second bounty? The saloon is full, the clock is ticking.
Draw
It's high noon. You count points, resolve connections, check bounties. The one who built best wins. Someone raises their hands, someone smiles. In thirty seconds, you'll play again, because there are other strategies to try.
🐸What to know beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼
What to know beforehand
Three things to know
It's super fast
A solid 10 minutes. It's not a game for an evening: it's a filler, a warm-up, a gap-filler between two longer titles. If you're looking for 90 minutes of depth, this isn't your saloon.
Pocket-sized format
Part of Minigame Library 2, meaning compact components and essential production. Don't expect miniatures or giant boards: it's all cards and functionality. Level 99's design tends to prioritize mechanics over aesthetics.
Zero published reviews
The game was released in 2026, and there are no verifiable reviews from international outlets yet. You're buying on faith in the designer and publisher. The FroGames listing is a first look: we'll update when we have real feedback.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The duel ends when the draw conditions are met. At that point, you count points.
Victory
- You built the strongest lineup in the saloon
- Your card connections generate more points than your opponent's
- The bounties you placed alter the outcome in your favor
Defeat
- Your opponent has a stronger lineup than yours
- Their bounties overturn the final tally
- You played the wrong cards at the wrong time
High Noon at Showdown Saloon promises fast, tactical duels in a pocket-sized format. Level 99 has a solid reputation, but this is a new title: if you like the idea, bet on the designer.

FAQ about High Noon at Showdown Saloon
Is it really 10 minutes or is it the usual optimistic estimate?
BGG data says a solid 10 minutes. Level 99 tends to be honest with durations, and the minigame format suggests it's truly quick. Setup and the first game might extend it, but based on experience with other Level 99 titles, the estimate is credible.
Does it play well solo?
The game officially supports 1 player, but we don't yet know the details of the solo system. It might use an automa, dedicated scenarios, or a puzzle mode. Its short duration makes it practical for quick sessions, but the true experience is likely in the 1v1 duel.
What mechanics does High Noon at Showdown Saloon use?
The game uses card connections (you build relationships in the saloon lineup), multi-use cards (cards have multiple tactical functions), and card play conflict resolution (the duel is resolved by comparing played cards). Bounties are the twist that alters the final outcome.
Is it suitable for those unfamiliar with Westerns or Level 99?
Probably yes. Level 99 Games designs to bring video game players to the table, so the rules tend to be intuitive. The Western theme is light, serving more as atmosphere than simulation. If you're looking for a quick tactical filler, this works even without knowing the publisher.
Is it available in Italian?
No. The edition sold on FroGames is in English. The game was released in 2026, and there are no announced Italian localizations at the moment. Language dependency is moderate (cards with text, but visual mechanics), so with a fan translation of the cards, it's playable.
