GAME OVERVIEW
Status: A Victorian Affair is a game of deduction and intrigue in which players take on the roles of members of Victorian high society. The goal is to accumulate prestige while avoiding scandal.


PREPARATION (SETUP)
Set up the central board depicting the residence. Each player receives a starting hand of character and resource cards. The "Reputation" tokens are placed on the zero of the scoring track. Shuffle the "Scandals" deck and place it face down.


SHIFT PROGRESS
The game takes place in a series of rounds, divided into three main phases:

1. **Living Room Phase**: Players place their characters in the various rooms of the house. Each room offers unique benefits (spying on opponents' cards, gaining resources, exchanging rumors).

2. **Accusations Phase**: Players may play cards to cast suspicion on their opponents. Anyone accused must defend themselves or suffer a loss of Status.

3. **Social Phase**: The evening's events are resolved. Those who managed their relationships best earn prestige points.


HAND MANAGEMENT
The cards in your hand represent your influence and the information you possess. Use them wisely: discarding the wrong card could leave you defenseless against a sudden accusation.


END OF THE GAME
The game ends when a player reaches a certain Status score or when the event deck runs out. The player with the highest Reputation is crowned the most prominent figure in society and wins the game.
