Each turn is based on an open-ended dice draft: carefully choose your piece of scrap, activate your special abilities, build robots, and optimize your factory.

1. Build your own robot factory animated by assistants
Each player manages a personal board where they develop a robot production line. You also have animal assistants to support you, each with unique abilities that can be activated at the right time for extra advantages.
2. Select dice from the central storage to activate actions
Each round, the first player chooses a production tile and places it in a common area, where they draw colored dice. These dice represent different resources for building robots, upgrading the factory, or gaining skills.
3. Use dice simultaneously to build and improve
All players use the dice they've collected at the same time, deciding whether to use them to complete robots, level up their factories, or activate "sparks" for special effects. The choice is free but irreversible.
4. Recruit new assistants and unlock brilliant combos
As you play, you can acquire new assistants, each with passive or activatable powers. These help you optimize your strategy and create truly productive combos as the match progresses.
5. Whoever builds the most efficient network in 4 rounds wins.
After four rounds, the points earned from completed robots, achieved objectives, factory improvements, and intelligent use of assistants are added together. The player who created the best robotic production chain with the available resources wins.

Each turn, you choose a set of dice to build robots or upgrade your factory, while others also take one to keep up. But the real spark is in the details: triggering combos with Sparks , using animal assistants , and carefully balancing each piece to make the perfect machine work.

Sparks , published by ALION, is a strategic board game for 1-4 players , featuring dice drafting mechanics, variable powers, and resource management.
Each player runs a robot factory, using one of their production tiles each turn to take dice from the junkyard. The dice are used to build robots or improve their production chain.
The interesting twist is that even the other players, even if not active, get a die: the draft is open, dynamic and never banal.
Completing robots earns you points and new abilities, while animal assistants provide unique combos and asymmetric powers, activated with Sparks or cogs.
With strong replayability , an advanced draft-based mode, and a light yet satisfying engine builder feel, Sparks is perfect for advanced families, solo players, and anyone who loves the feeling of “optimization with style.”

The presence of animal assistants adds character and variety, the dice flow beautifully, and each round presents you with real choices, not automatic ones .
The production is well-crafted, the iconography clear, and even solo it runs like clockwork.
It's one of those games where you feel better with each turn, and when it's over you just want to shuffle everything together and start again.
