Choose your agency. You have different resources, different priorities, a different vision of the cosmos. And when someone discovers a signal you never would have looked for, you realize that this time it's not enough to be good: you have to be unique.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
When each agency searches for alien life in its own way
Tomáš Holek returns to SETI with an expansion that completely redefines the approach to the base game. SETI - Space Agencies introduces asymmetric organizations — private tech companies, global research networks, government consortia — each with unique abilities, strategic advantages, and different starting conditions. Art by Ondřej Hrdina, Jiří Kůs, Jiří Mikovec, Jakub Politzer, and Petr Štich, published by Czech Games Edition and localized in Italian by Cranio Creations.
At the table, you choose an organization, receive exclusive tools and perspectives, and face the search for extraterrestrial life with mechanics that reward long-term planning and specialization. The expansion also adds three new alien species with unprecedented narrative twists, over forty new projects inspired by real scientific initiatives, and signal tokens — a subtle but crucial system that makes scanning the cosmos more efficient and tactical.
What they say abroad
"Space Agencies transforms SETI into a truly asymmetric experience, where every faction feels distinct and every choice matters."
Space Agencies transforms SETI into a truly asymmetric experience, where every organization feels distinct and every choice matters.
— Meeple Mountain
This expansion doesn't add random content: it redefines how you think about the game. Each agency forces you to see alien research from a new perspective, and signal tokens change the pace of scanning without overcomplicating the rules.

SETI - Space Agencies - Expansion (SETI: Space Agencies)
SETI is designed for solo play from the base game, and this expansion further enhances it: the asymmetric organizations offer completely new optimization puzzles, and the quick start cards allow you to skip the slow first round and jump straight into the game. The solo experience is complete and often cleaner than multiplayer, because you focus only on your engine without distractions.
What you find in the box
The tools of asymmetric research
Asymmetric Organizations
Unique player boards with exclusive abilities, different starting resources, and strategies that reward opposing approaches: some thrive on rapid scanning, others on accumulating projects, still others on what opponents discard.
Three new alien species
Each species brings unprecedented narrative and mechanical twists, which intertwine with your strategic choices and force you to adapt your plan when you discover them.
Signal tokens
A subtle but crucial system: by accumulating signals, you optimize the scanning of the cosmos, reducing the cost and increasing the efficiency of your research. An additional tactical layer that doesn't add complexity.
Over 40 new projects
Inspired by real scientific initiatives (from Breakthrough Listen to TESS), they integrate into the base deck and drastically expand the tree of possible strategies. Each project is a piece that fits differently depending on your organization.

How to Play
The flow of each round (integrated with the base game)
The expansion doesn't change SETI's structure, but enhances it: organizations modify how you approach each phase, and signal tokens passively accumulate during scans.
As in the base game, but now each organization has abilities that modify action costs, timing, or efficiency. What is expensive for others might be free for you — or vice versa.
The new 40+ projects mix with the base deck. You draw, choose whether to play them for resources, projects, or scans — but your organization can give you exclusive bonuses on certain types, making some cards much more powerful for you than for others.
When you perform scans, you accumulate signal tokens that reduce the cost of future scans. It's an efficiency loop: more scans, less cost, more you can scan. Some organizations utilize this mechanism better than others.
The three new alien species introduce scoring conditions or special abilities that no one knows until they are revealed. Each discovery can overturn the table's priorities — and those who adapt win.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose who you are
Read the organization boards. One promises you ultra-efficient scans, another free project accumulation, another bonus resources from discarded signals. Decide who you want to be in this game — and you already know your plan will be completely different from others.
The first unique project
You draw a card that you would have discarded in the base game, but with your organization, it becomes a perfect engine starter. The others at the table don't understand why you took it. You do, and you're already building three turns ahead.
Discover a new alien species
The deck reveals one of the three new aliens. It has a mechanical twist no one predicted: immediate bonuses, delayed penalties, unprecedented scoring conditions. Everyone looks at each other, recalculates, changes priorities. Those who planned too rigidly now suffer.
Signal tokens make the difference
You've accumulated enough signals to make scanning virtually free. While others still pay full resources, you map entire sectors in one go. Efficiency becomes an exponential advantage, and you understand that this expansion rewards those who optimize every detail.
Asymmetrical scoring
Each organization scores points slightly differently. Someone is bursting with projects but has few aliens, someone else has scanned half the universe but hasn't built an engine. The winner is not who did the most things, but who best exploited their unique powers. And no one predicted the final podium.

🏆Victory and DefeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win (and how to lose)
Final scoring follows the base game rules, but each organization can have unique end-game bonuses. The winner is the one who best utilized their asymmetrical powers.
Victory
- Maximize points from your organization: each unique ability gives you an exclusive way to gain advantage
- Balance projects, discovered aliens, and completed scans: the winner rarely excels in only one area
- Adapt to new alien species: those who ignore their mechanical twists lose valuable points
Defeat (or missed victory)
- Play your organization as if it were generic: if you don't exploit unique powers, you are simply weaker than others
- Ignore signal tokens: accumulating scanning efficiency is crucial, and those who neglect them pay too much for each action
- Don't adapt to new species: the three aliens in the expansion change priorities, and those who stick to the original plan lose ground
Space Agencies is not an expansion that just adds stuff: it's an expansion that changes the game. And after trying it, the base SETI will feel incomplete.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about SETI - Space Agencies - Expansion (SETI: Space Agencies)
Is the base game required to play?
Yes, it's mandatory. SETI - Space Agencies is an expansion: it requires the complete base game (board, cards, components) to function. It is not standalone.
Are the organizations balanced?
Yes, but the balance emerges after a few games. Some organizations seem stronger at first because their powers are more immediate, but all have winning paths if utilized well. Asymmetry is real, power level is aligned.
Do the new projects mix with the base deck?
Yes. The 40+ projects from the expansion are integrated into SETI's main deck, increasing variety and strategic options without changing the game's structure. You can choose to use only some or all of them.
What mechanics does SETI - Space Agencies use?
Asymmetrical powers (each organization has unique abilities), multi-purpose cards (each card has 3-4 different uses), resource management (income and optimization), variable setup (quick start card and different organizations each game), and a signal token system that rewards increasing efficiency in scans.
Is it available in Italian?
Yes. The edition distributed by Cranio Creations is fully localized in Italian: cards, organization boards, rulebook, and all materials. It requires the base game in Italian for full integration.
