The FroGames Card
Push a tile. The labyrinth reshapes, opening a corridor that wasn't there. Collect the treasure, use it to build a road. And now you have to choose: chase the other treasure or finish the city?
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
When two milestones merge into something new
Carcassonne Labyrinth combines two board game classics: Max J. Kobbert's Magic Labyrinth (40 years of family success) and Klaus-Jürgen Wrede's Carcassonne (25 years of competitive evenings). It's not an expansion, it's not a variant. It's a new game that takes the best of both and makes them work together. Art by Marcel Gröber and Franz-Georg Stämmele.
Move your token in the labyrinth, push tiles to open new paths, collect treasures. Each treasure and each tile expelled from the labyrinth become material to build cities and roads à la Carcassonne. Whoever best balances exploration and construction wins the game.
What they say abroad
Carcassonne Labyrinth proves that two iconic mechanics can coexist and empower each other. It's too early to say if it will last years like its parents, but the first impression is surprising.

Carcassonne Labyrinth
The game includes solo mode in the basic rules. Compete against a virtual opponent who follows simplified rules. The experience works as a tactical puzzle, but loses the tension of the treasure hunt and the back-and-forth on cities of multiplayer.
What's in the box
Two games, one seamless flow
Labyrinth tiles
Push a tile into the board, everything shifts. Corridors close, others open. The path you had planned disappears or becomes a clear road.
Treasures to collect
Every treasure you reach becomes material to build cities and roads. Collect or build: you can't do everything at once.
Cities and roads
Use tiles and treasures to place meeples, complete cities, close roads. Exactly like in Carcassonne, but you gain resources from the labyrinth.
Player tokens
You move through the labyrinth following the open corridors. One wrong move and you're stuck while an opponent snatches the treasure.
🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each turn
Each turn you have two phases: first you move through the labyrinth, then you build with what you have collected.
Take a tile from the row and push it onto the board. Everything shifts. One tile exits on the other side: you keep it for later.
Move your token along the open corridors. If you reach a treasure, you take it. It becomes a resource for building.
Use collected treasures and ejected tiles to place Carcassonne tiles. You complete cities, close roads, place meeples to score points.
Score updated. Turn passes. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
⏱️Your first gameThe chronicle, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
First move
You push the first labyrinth tile. The corridors shift, someone complains because their path has disappeared. You advance towards a treasure, you take it. Now you have material to build.
The first city
Someone places the first Carcassonne tile and starts a city. The others see the opportunity, look for compatible treasures. The table splits: some chase treasures, some build immediately.
Tactical block
A player pushes a tile to block an opponent's corridor. The blocked player protests, looks for alternative routes. The labyrinth changes again, the contested treasure is reachable by a third player.
Crucial decision
You have enough resources to complete a large city, but there's a rare treasure two moves away. You choose. If you go for the treasure, someone else completes the city. If you build, you lose the treasure. There's no right choice.
Final count
Labyrinth cleared, cities completed, roads closed. Count the points. The one who best balanced exploration and building wins. Someone says they'll change strategy next time. The game begins again.

Double learning curve
If you don't know either Carcassonne or Labyrinth, you have to learn two systems at once. The rules are simple, but understanding when to prioritize exploration or building requires a few games. Those who know at least one of the two games have an advantage.
Variable downtime
With 4 players, turns get longer: everyone has to think about both labyrinth movement and building. It's not analysis paralysis, but if you're looking for a fast pace, it's better to play with 2-3 players.
Luck in tile draws
The draw of labyrinth tiles has an impact: sometimes the right tile arrives at the right time, sometimes not. Strategy matters, but there's some randomness. If you want total control, this isn't the game for you.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat determines the outcome▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The game ends when all treasures have been collected and all cities/roads completed. The player with the most points wins.
Victory
- Completed cities with meeples are worth points based on size
- Completed roads give points for each tile in the road
- Collected treasures can give bonus points if used strategically
Defeat
- You get stuck in the labyrinth and lose turns without collecting treasures
- You build cities that you don't complete: meeples stuck, zero points
- You focus only on one phase (labyrinth or building) and lose efficiency
It's not Carcassonne with a labyrinth on top. It's not Labyrinth with cities. It's a game where two mechanics feed each other and whoever understands the rhythm wins.

FAQ about Carcassonne Labyrinth
Do I need to know Carcassonne or Labyrinth to play?
No. The rules are explained from scratch. If you know at least one of the two games, it will be easier to get into the flow, but it's not necessary. Everything can be learned in one trial game.
How long does a game actually last?
The box says 30+ minutes. In practice: 40-50 minutes with 4 players, 30 minutes with 2. It depends a lot on how much players think about building moves.
Does it work well with 2 players?
Yes, in fact it's one of the best player counts. With 2 players, the game is more tactical, less chaotic, every move matters more. With 4 players, it's more chaotic but also more unpredictable. Both are valid, it depends on what you're looking for.
What mechanics does Carcassonne Labyrinth use?
Slide/Push (push tiles to change the labyrinth), Tile Placement (build cities and roads), Map Deformation (the board changes every turn), Network Building (create paths and connections). Two systems in parallel.
Is it available in Italian?
Yes, this is the Italian edition published by Ravensburger. Rules, components, and tiles are in Italian. No language barrier.
