Dice Throne · Hero Pack Raveness
Send the raven to perch on your board. He stays there, sucking your life away one point at a time, and when he returns to her... she heals.
What it's about
She doesn't fight alone. And that changes everything.
The Dice Throne Hero Pack Raveness comes from the Outcasts set, the horror line of Dice Throne, and borrows its imagery from Edgar Allan Poe: the raven is called Nevermore, the phrase on the board is a line from that poem. Designed by Nate Chatellier, Manny Trembley and Gavan Brown, it is a single hero pack for the Dice Throne system.
Nevermore is not a token: he is a companion with a dial. You send him to an opponent and he begins to absorb vitality — each notch on the dial is unblockable damage for them. And when the raven returns to the Raveness, she heals all that he has absorbed. Meanwhile, whoever hosts Nevermore is forced to roll the Nevermore Die at each upkeep, with six all-unpleasant outcomes.
The Raveness does not suffer chance: she commands it. With Feather tokens, she forces the raven's die to be rerolled or modifies its result, and with Hex she turns the opponent's 6s into blank faces. Complexity 3 out of 6: within reach for those who already know the system, devastating in the hands of those who know when to make the raven fly away.

Your arsenal
What you bring to the Mad King's arena
The Raven's Dice
Five custom dice with claws, feathers, and eyes. Up to three rolls per turn — plus rerolls gifted by Feathers.
The Hero Board
Peck, Fowl Friend, Raven Sight, Craven, Beguile, Nothing More. And at the bottom, Fantastic Terrors!, the unpreventable Ultimate.
Nevermore, the companion
A raven with a dial: it perches on the opponent's board, absorbs vitality, and forces them to roll the Nevermore Die at each upkeep.
Feather and Hex
Feathers allow you to re-roll or adjust the raven's die. Hex turns the opponent's 6s into blank faces: their best dice cease to exist.
The raven perches on your board and doesn't leave. From that moment on, your every turn begins with a die roll you didn't want to make.
A five-moment game
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The raven is on my shoulder
I open the board, set the counter, place Nevermore next to the dice with the dial at zero. Across the table, someone asks me what that little black wheel is for. I tell them they'll find out soon.
The raven changes shoulders
I activate Nevermore and send him to them. Now the raven is on their board. It doesn't do immediate damage — it just starts stealing something, one point at a time, as the dial goes up.
Their turn starts with a die they didn't want to roll
The Nevermore Die: six sides, all against them. Discard a card, lose a combat point, take Hex. And I have three Feathers in hand — if I don't like the result, I make them re-roll.
I recall the raven. And I heal.
Nevermore returns to me and everything it absorbed for three turns becomes my life. I go up, they stay where they are. Then I send it back. The table only just realizes what's happening.
Fantastic Terrors!
The raven flies three times in a single turn, the spell falls on the table and cannot be prevented. Twenty-three minutes. They reread Nevermore's card looking for the error. There isn't one. It's just a great character.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Four phases that flow in under two minutes. With the Raveness, however, you also play during others' turns.
You draw a card and gain a combat point. But the most important upkeep is that of the opponent hosting Nevermore: that's where they have to roll the raven's die.
Spend combat points: permanently upgrade a board ability or play cards like Cull! and Broken Stillness to manipulate Nevermore's die.
Roll the five dice up to three times. Peck and Craven deal damage, Fowl Friend and Raven Sight activate the raven: each activation moves it or makes it absorb more vitality.
Last cards, last upgrades, discard excess hand. Then pass the dice — but the raven stays where it is, and continues to work for you even when it's not your turn.
Why choose the Raveness
Six reasons to bring her to the arena
Nevermore, the raven with the dial
It's not an abstract token: it's a companion that physically lands on the opponent's board and absorbs vitality, tick by tick. Each tick is undefendable damage for its host.
Absorbs from them, heals you
When you recall the raven, everything it stole becomes your life points. She is the only hero in the series who converts dealt damage into healing, with timing you decide.
The die they didn't want to roll
Whoever hosts Nevermore rolls the raven's die every upkeep: six outcomes, all against them. It's not an effect they suffer once — it's a tax they pay every turn.
Feather: you control chance
Up to five feathers to spend to re-roll the raven's die, correct its value, or activate Nevermore off-turn. In a dice game, controlling the dice is the real weapon.
Hex: their 6s disappear
Whoever is cursed treats all 6 faces as blank spaces. The opponent's best combinations suddenly become unattainable. Pure malice.
Poe at the game table
The raven is named Nevermore, the quote on the board is from "The Raven". She comes from the Outcasts set with Pale Lady, Headless Horseman, and Necromancer — and is compatible with the entire series.
How it ends
One way to win. One way to be without a raven.
No scores, no final tally. You fight until someone runs out of life points — and with the Raveness, that someone gets there little by little, almost without realizing it.
Victory
- Bring the opponent's life points to zero — or the last one standing
- In 2v2, the team that eliminates both enemy heroes wins
- If you eliminate the one hosting Nevermore, the raven immediately returns to you
Defeat
- Your life points reach zero: you're out of the arena
- The distant raven doesn't protect you: while tormenting others, you remain exposed
- There's no consolation, but no waiting either: the rematch starts in two minutes
Add the Raveness to your arena if you enjoy the idea of playing during others' turns, with a raven that never leaves. Remember: you need at least two Hero Packs to fight.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Dice Throne Hero Pack Raveness
Can I play with this Hero Pack by myself?
No, and it's best to say it right away. The Raveness Hero Pack contains everything needed for a single heroine: to fight, you need at least a second Hero Pack (or a Dice Throne box you already own). It's not a base box: it's designed for those who already have the system, or for those who are building it one hero at a time.
Isn't it frustrating to play against, with all that manipulation?
Depends on what you're looking for. The Raveness plays within the opponent's turn: the raven torments them, Hex cancels their 6s, Feathers allow her to correct the dice. Those who love to plan without interference find her annoying — and that's exactly why she exists. If you enjoy controlling the game more than winning by force, she's among the most satisfying characters in the series.
How exactly does Nevermore work?
It's a companion with a dial. When you activate it, you can move it to an opponent or make it absorb vitality: the dial goes up (to 3) and whoever hosts it takes undefendable damage. When Nevermore returns to the Raveness, she heals for the accumulated value and the dial resets. Also, whoever has the raven must roll the Nevermore Die every upkeep: six different outcomes, from discarded cards to Hex.
Which set does it come from and is it compatible with other heroes?
It comes from Dice Throne Outcasts, the horror line with Pale Lady, Headless Horseman, and Necromancer. It is compatible with all Dice Throne heroes: Season One, Season Two, and Marvel Dice Throne can be freely mixed, in 1v1, 2v2, or free-for-all.
Is it suitable for those who have never played Dice Throne?
It's complexity 3 out of 6: not impossible, but not a first-game hero like the Barbarian (1) or the Moon Elf (2) either. The raven with the dial adds an extra layer of management. If you already know the system, it's an excellent second or third hero.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The text on the board and cards is in English, but the language is repetitive and highly iconic: after one game, the symbols speak for themselves. The Nevermore leaflet has a bit more text — basic English helps here.
