The FroGames Card
You have two tokens. The word is 'ocean'. Your partner looks at you. You say 'Atlantic' and they immediately nod. Or you hesitate, spend the second token on 'waves', and the other team steals your point.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
That moment when you understand what the other person is thinking before they speak
Sync is born from those magical moments when a word or a glance says it all. George Li designed this party game for Rabble in 2024, seeking to recreate that feeling of immediate connection that sometimes emerges at the table, when you and your partner seem synchronized.
You need to make your partners guess words using tokens to give clues. What you can say is limited, so you must choose words carefully and read the team's mind. If you feel particularly connected, try a Super Sync to earn double points. Making a mistake, however, gives opponents the opportunity to steal your cards.
What they say abroad
"Sync is inspired by the magical moments of connection when a single word or glance can say it all."

— Rabble
It's a game that thrives on that suspended moment before your partner replies. Sometimes you get it right on the first try, sometimes you waste all your word budget and still lose. And that's exactly the beauty of it.

What's in the box
Tokens, cards, nothing else
100 Sync cards
The words to guess. Some immediate, others cryptic. The difference between victory and theft.
24 number tokens
Spend these to give clues. They run out quickly. Every word counts.
12 Sync tokens
For Super Sync: one clue, double points. Either glory or disaster, no middle ground.

How to play
The flow of each round
You draw, you spend, you guess (or you're wrong). Then it's the others' turn.
Choose a word from the deck. Don't show it to anyone. It's the word your teammates will have to guess.
You use number tokens to give clue words. Each token = one word. You can spend as many as you like, but you won't get them back.
They try to say the right word. If they get it right, you score points. If they're wrong, the other team can steal the card with a single attempt.
If you want to take a risk, play a Sync token: give only one clue and double points if they guess correctly. Otherwise, continue normally until the tokens run out.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Divide the teams
If you're playing competitively, form two teams. Or play all together against the deck. The dynamic changes completely: in co-op you help, in competitive you steal.
First card, first doubts
You draw a word from the Sync deck, spend tokens to give clues to your teammates. Do you say 'sea'? Or do you save the token and hope they understand anyway? The first hesitation is the most painful.
Someone attempts Super Sync
If you feel connected, you try Super Sync: one clue, double points. If you're wrong, the other team steals your card. The table holds its breath. Either applause or boos.
Tokens run out
When both teams run out of tokens, the game ends. The last clues are always the most desperate. Someone randomly shouts a word hoping for a miracle.
Point counting and revenge
Each guessed word is worth points. Whoever has the most wins. Someone complains about the impossible card, someone else claims the successful Super Sync. Put the cards back in the deck, start again.

Three honest things
Problematic scaling below 4
With 2-3 players the game works, but it loses its edge. The beauty of Sync is the chaos between teams, the stealing, the reactions. With few players, it becomes a too static telepathy exercise. If there are few of you, there are better party games.
Depends on shared vocabulary
If you play with people of very different ages/cultures, some cards become impossible. A teenager and a sixty-year-old don't have the same references. Mental connection works if you share a universe of words. Otherwise, it's pure frustration.
It ends before you know it
10-20 minutes fly by. It's a filler, not an evening game. If you're looking for something substantial, look elsewhere. Sync is perfect as a warm-up or a closer, not as the main course.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Points or nothing. Whoever has the most wins.
Victory
- Guess more words than your opponents and accumulate more points
- Hit a Super Sync and double your winnings
- Steal cards from others when they make mistakes and finish with an advantage
Defeat
- Waste all your tokens on useless clues and your teammates don't understand
- Attempt Super Sync, fail, and give double points to opponents
- Run out of tokens before guessing enough cards
Sync is low-cost telepathy in 20 minutes. It doesn't revolutionize the genre, but it's fun and tests how well you truly understand others. And that's enough.

FAQ about Sync
What mechanics does Sync use?
It's a word guessing game with resource management (tokens are the resource) and a push-your-luck twist with Super Sync. Very similar to games like Just One or Wavelength, but with the tension of a limited word budget.
Does it work well with 2 players?
The game supports 2 players, but it's designed for groups. With two, the interaction between teams, the stealing, the chaos is missing. It becomes a quiet cooperative exercise. If there are two of you, look for something else.
How long does a game really last?
10-20 minutes, depending on how many players you are and how much you hesitate on clues. It's a very fast filler. If you want to extend it, play multiple consecutive rounds and have a tournament.
Do you need to know the language well to play?
Yes. Sync is a word game: if you don't share vocabulary and cultural references with your teammates, half the cards become impossible. It's not a game for multilingual tables or with large generational gaps.
Is it available in Italian?
This edition is in English. The cards contain single words, so fluent players are needed. There are currently no official localized editions in Italian.
The people behind the game
Who invented it, who designed it, who publishes it — and what else they've done.
Sync is a word guessing party game for 2-8 players designed by George Li and published by Rabble in 2024. Players must get teammates to guess words using limited tokens to give clues, choosing words carefully. The central mechanic is clue token management and the Super Sync twist, which allows players to double points with a single clue (but gives the card to opponents if they fail). Games last 10-20 minutes, recommended age 10+, minimal complexity. Available on FroGames.it.
