The FroGames sheet
Build your perfect city, choosing the two buildings most useful for your strategy. Then the Chaos Knights arrive and the ruin begins to march. You will have to improvise, recruit elite troops, and pay the merchant. The last evening is always the best.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
When heroes thought they had won, Chaos arrives
Karak II: Chaos is the second expansion for Karak II, designed by Petr Mikša and Roman Hladík (who also illustrated it). It is the largest expansion ever created for a game in the Karak series, featuring ten new buildings, five elite troops, two brand-new heroes (Alchemist and Acrobat), and a mechanic that shifts the rhythm: the armies of Chaos march toward your cities to raze them to the ground.
At the table, you build your city by choosing which buildings you want in your arsenal at the start of the game, recruit troops by rolling dice, explore the modular board, and collect resources. But this time, defeating monsters is not enough: enemy cities send sieges against you. You can play with one, some, or all five modules of the expansion (New Buildings, Merchant, Armies, Chaos Knight Bosses, New Heroes), individually or combined with Imperium, the first expansion. Requires the base game Karak II.
What they say abroad
"It's a biggest expansion for any of the Karak games so far."
It is the largest expansion ever created for a Karak game.
— Albi
Karak II: Chaos presents itself as a leap in complexity for those already familiar with the base game. The modules offer freedom, but it is difficult to assess the balance of the system until it has been released and reviewed. This sheet is based on available information: we will update it after our first few games.

Karak II: Chaos
What's inside
The five expansion modules
New Buildings
Ten new types of buildings. At the start of the game, you draft two. Five of these serve to train elite troops: only two dice each, but they are worth an army.
Merchant
A new map tile featuring a merchant. Spend resources to buy items when loot is scarce. A tactical Plan B that changes the game's economy.
Chaos Armies
From cursed cities, enemy armies march with one goal: to raze your cities. They don't wait for you to come to them. They come to you.
New Heroes and Bosses
Two new heroes (Alchemist and Acrobat) that bring the total to 18. Three Chaos Knights as alternative bosses. Each changes the end-game dynamics.

How to play
The flow of each round
Each turn alternates between classic Karak II exploration and managing the threats introduced by the expansion.
Move your hero and flip a new tile if you reach an unexplored space. If there is a monster, you face it immediately.
Fight monsters by rolling your dice (your hero plus the troops you have recruited). Alternatively, visit the merchant and buy items by spending resources.
Collect resources from loot or from the tile. Use resources to build structures in your city or recruit new troops (add dice to your pool).
If the module is active, enemy armies move toward the players' cities. When they arrive, they attack. You must defend yourself or lose buildings.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose your city
Drafting buildings. Everyone looks at the ten new tiles and decides which pair to keep. Some focus on elite troops, others on defense. No one yet knows what the Chaos will bring.
Explore and build
The first turns are familiar to those who know Karak II: you explore tiles, fight monsters, and gather resources. Your city grows. Someone recruits their first troops. The table is still quiet.
The armies move
The first Chaos army appears. It doesn't stay put on a tile: it marches toward a city. Now the game changes pace. Those under threat must choose whether to defend or run off to explore.
The merchant saves (maybe)
Someone visits the merchant because their loot is gone but they still need resources. Spend what you have to buy the item you need. It’s expensive, but it’s your only move.
Final siege
Cities are under pressure; someone has lost a key building. Those who invested in elite troops hold out better. The winner is the one who built the most solid city and knew how to manage the Chaos.

Requires the base game
Chaos is an expansion, not a standalone game. You need Karak II to play. If you don't already have it, this box is not enough.
Increases complexity
The base game is family-friendly. Chaos adds modules, drafting, and sieges. It remains accessible but is no longer a pure gateway game. If you are looking for simplicity, start with the base game.
Few reviews so far
The game was released in 2025 and has few ratings on BGG. The mechanics look promising, but there are not yet in-depth reviews confirming the system's balance with all modules active.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the finale rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and lose
Victory depends on the strength of your city and your ability to handle external threats.
Victory
- Defeat the final boss (Chaos Knight or Dark General, depending on the chosen setup)
- Accumulate the highest score by building structures and defending the city
- Manage enemy armies without losing key buildings for your strategy
Defeat or disadvantage
- Chaos armies destroy fundamental buildings in your city
- You do not have enough resources to recruit troops or defend against sieges
- Other players build stronger cities and advance more quickly toward victory
Karak II: Chaos is an expansion that promises longevity through modularity and strategic freedom. The real challenge is managing the Chaos without being overwhelmed.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Karak II: Chaos
Can I play with only some modules, or must I activate them all?
You can activate one module at a time or combine them as you prefer. The expansion is designed to be modular: if you want a simpler experience, only add the New Buildings. If you want the ultimate challenge, activate all five modules together.
Is it compatible with the Imperium expansion?
Yes. Chaos is compatible with Imperium, the first expansion for Karak II. You can play with both for an even richer and more complex experience.
What mechanics does Karak II: Chaos use?
Modular exploration (adding tiles to the board), dice rolling to fight monsters and defend yourself, initial building drafting, and resource management to build and recruit troops. Enemy armies move autonomously toward the players' cities.
How much does the experience change compared to the base game?
It raises the complexity and changes the pace. In the base game, you explore and fight monsters. With Chaos, you must also defend your city from sieges, plan for the initial draft, and manage the merchant when resources are scarce. It remains accessible but requires more strategy.
Is it available in Italian?
Yes, the Creativamente edition is in Italian. The rulebook, cards, and components are fully localized.

Who invented it, who designed it, who publishes it — and what else they have done.
