The FroGames profile
You place a witch in the Dark Forest. Another player blocks the ritual you needed. You send a second witch to the Stone Circle, but you need energy you don't have. And the throne slips further away.
WHAT IT IS
Witch clans, Places of Power, and a throne only one can claim
Stefano Di Silvio (Nova Luna, Barrage) signs off on an engine builder that blends worker placement and hand management. Martin Mottet’s illustrations paint a fantasy at twilight, when the boundaries of reality collapse and the supernatural awakens. This is Evenfall, the age of the Magic Clans.
At the table, you choose a witch clan and send them to explore Places of Power via the glowing portals of the World Tree. Every card you play can be a resource, an action, or a worker. Build a chain of rituals that generates victory points, compete for the favor of the Stones of Power, and try to take your seat on the Enchanted Throne. Three rounds, then points are tallied. Whoever has built the most efficient engine rules the new age.
What they're saying abroad
"A card-driven, engine-building game with both novel and familiar mechanisms."
A card-driven engine-building game that combines new and proven mechanics.
— dlp games
Evenfall arrives with a medium-high weight and a significant pedigree. This profile is a first read based on official data: we will update it as soon as we have played full games and gathered feedback from the community.

Evenfall
The game includes official solo rules. The experience is complete: you build the engine, optimize the chains, and compete against a scaling scoring system. The competitive interaction of multiplayer worker placement is missing, but the strategic challenge remains intact.
The tools of your clan
Four pillars to conquer the Enchanted Throne
Clan Witches
Each witch is a worker with unique abilities. You place them on Places of Power to activate actions and rituals. The more you have in play, the faster your engine accelerates. But retrieving them costs turns.
Places of Power
Cards representing portals to the World Tree. You control a location by placing witches on it or playing the card as a resource. Each activated location fuels rituals and generates points.
Multi-use cards
Every card in your hand can be played as a resource, action, or worker. The choice depends on timing: use it now for energy or save it to build a combo later? That is how you win.
Stones of Power
Contested crystals that grant permanent favors. You compete to control them by performing specific rituals. Whoever accumulates the most earns end-game bonuses and advances toward the throne.

🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each round
Evenfall lasts three rounds. In each round, you take turns until everyone passes, then the end-of-round is resolved and the process repeats.
On your turn, you place a witch from your board onto an available Place of Power, activating that location's action. Alternatively, you pass (and stop playing for the rest of the round). Occupied spots are no longer available.
Before or after placing a witch, you can play cards from your hand: as resources (to pay costs), as actions (to perform special effects), or as new Places to control. Each card has three uses: choose the one you need right now.
When you control specific combinations of Places and resources, you can perform arcane rituals. Rituals generate immediate victory points, unlock Stones of Power, and trigger your clan's abilities. Timing is crucial.
When everyone has passed, you recover your placed witches, draw new cards, resolve end-of-round effects, and prepare the board for the next round. After three rounds, final points are tallied and the winner is crowned.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Setup and clan selection
You browse the clan boards and choose the one that promises interesting combos. Each has asymmetric powers: one generates energy, another recycles cards. You distribute the witches, draw your starting hand, and study the available Places of Power. The table is full of options.
The first placements
You place a witch on the location you need. Another player takes the one you wanted. You change plans: you use a card as a resource instead of an action. Your engine slows down, but it doesn't stop. You realize you will have to anticipate the others' moves.
The engine takes shape
Halfway through the second round, your engine is humming: each turn you activate two or three cards in sequence, generate energy, and control a new location. The others are building their own engines. Someone is accumulating Stones of Power. You look at their board and recognize the threat.
The race for the throne
Third round: whoever built the most efficient engine pulls ahead. You perform a ritual worth 8 points and unlock a Stone. But an opponent activates a devastating combo and gains ground. The throne is contested until the very last turn.
Counting and discovering the winner
End of the third round. Points from rituals, Stone bonuses, and secret objectives are summed up. Whoever seemed to be in the lead discovers they neglected a criterion. The winner is the one who optimized every card and every placement. The margin is narrow. You are already thinking about what you could have done better.

Need to know
Three things you must know
Steep learning curve
The first game is slow: every card has three uses and it takes time to understand which one is best at any given moment. The synergies between clan powers, Places, and rituals are not immediate. Factor in 15 minutes for the rules explanation and a practice game before seeing the engine really work.
Limited interaction
Worker placement is competitive (you block spots), but you don't directly destroy what others build. If you are looking for direct combat or take-that, this isn't it. Interaction is indirect: races for Stones, competition for rituals, turn order.
Variable downtime
With 4 players and complex engines active, long turns can be felt. Those who struggle with waiting between turns might find themselves watching others optimize chains for minutes at a time. With 2 players, the pace is tighter.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat rewards the endgame▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
After three rounds, points are tallied. The winner has the most points. There is no elimination: everyone plays until the end.
Victory
- Points from rituals performed during the game (the main source).
- Bonus from Stones of Power controlled at the end of the game.
- Points from secret objectives, cards in your engine, and activated clan abilities.
How to fall behind
- Inefficient engine: if cards don't chain together, you generate few points per turn.
- Bad timing: performing rituals too early or too late costs opportunities.
- Ignoring Stones of Power: those who control them accumulate permanent advantages that weigh in at the end of the game.
Evenfall is an engine-building game for those who love to optimize every card and build complex engines. It doesn't forgive timing errors, but when the engine runs, it offers pure satisfaction. Available on FroGames.it.

FAQ about Evenfall
What mechanics does Evenfall use?
Engine building as a core mechanic, combined with worker placement with differentiated workers (witches have unique abilities), hand management, multi-use cards, and end-game bonuses. The structure consists of three rounds with chained actions.
How complex is it compared to other engine builders?
Weight 3.1 out of 5: more demanding than Splendor or Gizmos, less than Terraforming Mars with expansions or Ark Nova. You need patience to see the combos, but the icons are clear and the phases are well-defined. After 2-3 games, it flows well.
Does it work well solo?
Yes, the game includes official solo rules. You build the engine and compete against a scaling scoring system. The interaction of worker placement is missing, but the strategic challenge is complete. Excellent for exploring different clans and refining builds.
How long is a full game?
The box says 60-120 minutes. In practice: first game is an easy 2 hours for 3-4 players (with explanation and downtime). Once familiar, a 2-player game takes less than an hour and a half. With 4 experts, it reaches 90-100 minutes.
Is it available in Italian?
This edition is in English. Text on the cards is present and important (abilities, rituals, effects). Understanding English or having a player who can translate during the game is necessary. There are currently no official Italian versions.
The people behind the game
Who invented it, who illustrated it, who publishes it — and what else have they done.
