FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
The sea rises, the city is about to disappear. From the tallest tower, there's only one way to the port: stair after stair, you must build it before it's too late.
What it's about
Build your escape route before Atlantis sinks
Atlantis Escape is the 3D solo puzzle designed by Raf Peeters for SmartGames. The beautiful city is about to disappear underwater, and there's only one hope: find the shortest way from the tallest tower to the port, where a boat awaits to save you.
Here's how to play: choose a challenge, place the tall tower as indicated, then use the pieces with stairs, bridges, and tunnels to create a continuous path from the tower's entrance to the sea exit. You only change levels by going up or down a stair — and stairs can only be entered from the front, never from the side. In tougher challenges, you also need to stack pieces, and every elevated structure must be fully supported: no gaps in the void.
Sixty 3D challenges of increasing difficulty, from 8 years old to expert. Atlantis Escape is one of the most challenging SmartGames: it trains concentration, flexible thinking, planning, problem-solving, and spatial intuition. Only one solution per challenge, zero luck. And the board doubles as a case, so you can take it anywhere.
Here you truly think in three dimensions: you build upwards, support each level, and enter the stairs from the right direction. It's not a flat path to trace — it's a city to build.
The secret of Atlantis Escape in one line
A decidedly tougher SmartGame, born from its author's desire to create a "Camelot JR for adults." When the last stair completes the path to the sea, the satisfaction is immense.
From the gaming experience
Atlantis Escape
In the city
What you hold in your hands
The tall tower
The starting point: the path begins at its gate, atop the city. From there, you just need to descend to the sea.
The 3D stairs
The only way to change levels. You can only enter them from the front, never from the side: orienting them correctly is half the solution.
Bridges and tunnels
They connect sections of the path by passing over and under. They also serve to support pieces on upper levels.
The port exit
The goal: the point on the sea where the boat awaits you. The challenge is only solved when the path reaches it.
The last stair clicked into place, the path descending to the water, the boat a step away: you've escaped Atlantis. It always happens with Atlantis Escape.

A challenge in five moments
What happens while you play
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose your next challenge
Open the booklet and choose a number between 1 and 60. The challenge tells you where the tower goes and which pieces you can use. The first ones are easy; the expert ones will have you staring at the city for quite a while.
Erect the tower
You place the tall tower at the indicated spot and orientation. The gate starts from there, and the sea is at the bottom. Between the two, for now, there are only empty spaces and pieces to fit together.
The first stairs
You place a stair and go down a level, then a bridge to extend the path. But the next piece doesn't rest on anything — and you realize you first need to build a support underneath it.
The "now everything holds up" moment
You reorient a stair, add a tunnel as a base, and suddenly the levels support each other and the path flows. Each piece finds its place, from the top almost to the water.
Escape successful
The last stair closes the path to the harbor: the escape route is complete, the boat is reachable. A sigh of satisfaction — and your eye is already on the next challenge.
How to play
Four steps for each challenge
The rules are learned in a few minutes, but thinking in three dimensions is another story altogether. Concentration, planning, and spatial awareness.
From the 60 available, from easy to expert level. Each indicates where the tower goes and which pieces you have at your disposal.
You place the tall tower on the board at the indicated spot and orientation: this is where the path begins.
You interlock stairs, bridges, and tunnels to descend levels and connect sections. Stairs are entered from the front, and upper levels must be supported.
The challenge is solved when the path seamlessly connects the tower gate to the exit at the harbor. Only one solution.
Why it works so well
Six things that make it special
A true 3D puzzle
Not a flat path to trace: here you build in height, on multiple levels. Thinking in three dimensions is what distinguishes it from most solitary puzzles.
Stairs only from the front
You change levels only with stairs, which are entered from the front and never from the side. A simple rule that makes every orientation a small decision.
Everything must be supported
Every piece on an upper level must be fully supported by underlying bases, corridors, stairs, or tunnels. No overhangs in the void: the city must stand.
One path, one solution
From the tower to the sea, there is only one correct path. No luck, no dice: when you find it, it's because you've thought it through completely.
The toughest SmartGame
Admittedly more challenging than average: from 8 years old, with an expert peak that tests even adult puzzle enthusiasts.
Designed by Raf Peeters, travel-friendly
Designed by the famous SmartGames author as a "Camelot JR for adults." The board acts as a carrying case with a transparent lid: you can take it anywhere.
How to solve it
A clear objective, one solution
Each challenge has a single correct path. The beauty — and the difficulty — is to make the path descend from the tower to the sea, building in 3D without leaving anything unsupported.
Challenge completed
- The path connects the tower gate to the sea exit
- You change levels only via stairs, entered from the front
- Every elevated piece is supported: the city stands
When you get stuck
- The path is interrupted and does not reach the harbor
- A piece is left unsupported or a stair is incorrectly oriented
- No problem: rethink the structure and rebuild
Atlantis Escape is one of those puzzles you open "for five minutes" and close an hour later, with the escape route finally complete and the desire to tackle the next challenge. Challenging to master, hard to put down.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Atlantis Escape
Is a 3D puzzle too complicated if you're not an expert?
No, but to be fair: it's a more challenging SmartGame than average. The first challenges are accessible and teach you the mechanics step by step; the difficulty increases gradually. If you enjoy spatial reasoning, the curve will guide you to expert levels without frustration.
Ages 8+: is it really harder than other SmartGames?
Yes, and the publisher also states it. The fact of building in three dimensions — supporting levels, orienting stairs, making the path descend — requires more attention than flat puzzles. It's designed for ages 8 and up, and the expert levels remain a good challenge even for adult puzzle enthusiasts.
How difficult are the challenges?
They range from easy to expert level. The progression is gradual, and each challenge prepares you for the next. The latter ones, true 3D puzzles, require careful planning of the entire structure before placing the pieces.
How exactly does the 3D mechanic work?
You build a path from the tower gate to the sea exit using pieces with stairs, bridges, and tunnels. You move between adjacent squares on the same level and change levels only with a stair, which must be entered from the front. In advanced challenges, you stack pieces: everything on top must be fully supported by what's underneath.
Is it suitable for travel and as a gift?
Yes. The board also acts as a carrying case with a transparent lid: you close the tower and pieces inside and take it in the car, on the train, or in your suitcase without losing them. It's an excellent gift for children aged 8 and up and for adults who love spatial puzzles.
Do I need to know English?
No. The challenges in the booklet are visual diagrams: they show where to place the tower and which pieces to use, and the solution is built with your hands. You play with your eyes and logic, without needing to read text.
