FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Two people sit down, nine pieces each, and that silence that thickens when someone is about to get three in a row. Then one laughs, the other protests, and they start over.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
The game that spans millennia
Nine Men's Morris dates back to over 3500 years ago. Traces of the game have been found in ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire, and medieval English churches. For centuries, it was the favorite pastime of monks, merchants, and soldiers. This Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced edition by Pure Arts celebrates the game that appears in the famous Ubisoft title, where Caribbean pirates challenged opponents between battles.
Two players, nine white pieces against nine black ones. First, the positions on the board, then the tactical moves. The objective is to form mills (lines of three pieces) to capture opponent's pieces. When one player is reduced to two pieces, they lose. Crystal-clear mechanics, surprising depth. The reason it has withstood centuries.
What they're saying abroad
A game that Shakespeare mentioned, the Romans carved into stone, and which is now back thanks to Ubisoft and Pure Arts.

Nine Men's Morris — Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
What's in the box
Essential components, Assassin's Creed design
Game board
Three concentric squares connected by lines. The structure played on for millennia, now with Assassin's Creed Black Flag graphic design.
9 white pieces
The first player. Nine pieces to strategically place, then move to form mills and control the board.
9 black pieces
The second player. Same arsenal, same mission: reduce the opponent to two pieces or block them completely.
Rulebook
Two pages. Universal rules that haven't changed in three thousand years, explained in minutes.
In twenty minutes you'll have won or lost, and one of you will want a rematch. Just as it's been since 1400 BC.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The empty board
Twenty-four free intersections, eighteen pawns to place. Everyone tries to understand the other's plan while placing the first pawn. No rush, just calculation.
The first mill
Someone completes a line of three. They choose an opponent's pawn and remove it. The other realizes that control of the center is already compromised. First advantage.
Movement phase
All pawns are on the board. Now they move, one intersection at a time. Each move opens a threat or blocks one. The pace slows, attention increases.
Three pawns
One of the two drops to three pawns. Now they can jump anywhere on the board, no longer confined to the lines. Desperation or a chance for a comeback, depends on the position.
Two pawns
A player is left with two pieces. They can no longer form mills. Game over. The other smiles, the first immediately asks "Another one?". Always.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Two distinct phases, different rules. First you build the position, then you exploit it.
In turn, each player places a pawn on a free intersection. The goal is to form mills (three pawns in a row). Each mill allows you to remove an opponent's pawn (except those inside a mill, if possible to avoid them).
Once all pawns are placed, they move. Each turn, you move one of your pawns to an adjacent free intersection. Do you form a mill? You capture an opponent's piece.
If you drop to three pawns, you can jump to any free intersection, no longer just adjacent ones. Greater mobility, but you are close to defeat.
You win if your opponent drops to two pawns (they can no longer form mills) or if they cannot make a legal move (all their pawns are blocked).
Why it's different from others
Six elements that make a difference
3500 years of verified history
It's not a game "inspired by". It is the original game, found in Egyptian temples, Viking ships, medieval churches. The same structure, the same rules. This is the Assassin's Creed edition, but the game is authentic.
Perfect tactical balance
No initial advantage, no asymmetry. Both players have nine identical pawns, the same board, the same possibilities. The winner played better, period.
Two phases, two games
The placement phase is strategic planning. The movement phase is immediate tactics. They seem like two different games, but the first influences the second. Every misplaced pawn is paid for later.
The three-pawn rule
When one drops to three pawns, they can jump anywhere. It seems like an advantage (total mobility), but in reality you are one step away from defeat. It is often the desperate move before the end. But sometimes it's enough for a comeback.
Hidden depth
Rules in three minutes, but after ten games you still discover new openings, new patterns, new traps. Like chess: simple to learn, impossible to master. Experienced players see five moves ahead.
Assassin's Creed Edition
Pure Arts brings the game into the world of Black Flag. Caribbean pirate aesthetics, a nod to the video game tie-in. For fans of the Ubisoft saga, it's a collector's item. For everyone else, it's a great way to discover a classic.
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Two brutal victory conditions.
Victory
- Reduce your opponent to two pawns (they can no longer form mills)
- Block all opponent's pawns (no legal moves possible)
- Your opponent surrenders (rare, but it happens)
Defeat
- You drop to two pawns (immediate game over)
- All your pawns are blocked and you cannot move
- You are forced to move into a position that gives the opponent a mill
A game that has stood the test of 35 centuries needs no introduction. It needs two players willing to challenge each other.
