The FroGames Card
Your companion has vanished into the desert. You open the first envelope, take out a puzzle piece. You turn it over, place it next to another. They fit together. A symbol appears. You consult the booklet. The story takes an unexpected turn.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
An adventure built piece by piece
Fragments: Solara is the gateway to a new line of narrative games by Yohan Servais, a designer already known for Unlock! and Guilty. Illustrated by Noëmie Chevalier and Jiahui Eva Gao, it brings an unprecedented idea to the table: using physical puzzle pieces as a game tool. You don't assemble them to see an image; you manipulate them to unlock the story.
At the table, you pull pieces from envelopes, turn them over, place them next to each other, overlap them. Each combination reveals clues, symbols, and objects to combine. The adventure booklet guides you through the Solara desert, where a companion has disappeared. Ninety minutes to solve the enigma, cooperating with other players or playing solo. A unique chapter, a complete introduction to a universe that promises to expand.
What they say abroad
"Right before you leave your settlement in the Solara desert, you notice your companion is nowhere to be found."
— IELLO
The game has just been released. Few data, few reviews. This card is based on official IELLO information and early international previews. We will update it as soon as we have more certainty.

Fragments: Solara
The game officially supports solo play (1-4 players). No automa: you manipulate the puzzles alone and follow the story. The experience should be complete, but it loses the dynamic of reasoning together about the symbols.
What's in the box
The components that tell the story
Puzzle Pieces
Dozens of cardboard tiles, each with two faces. You take them out of envelopes when the booklet tells you to. You turn them over, place them next to each other, overlap them. They are the heart of the game.
Adventure Booklet
It guides you through the Solara desert. You read a paragraph, manipulate the pieces, return to the booklet. Back and forth until the solution.
Symbols and Clues
Printed on the pieces. An icon can mean "combine this with that." A number can refer to a paragraph. Deciphering is part of the game.
Sealed Envelopes
The pieces start sealed. You only open an envelope when the story tells you to. Each opening is a narrative turning point.

The flow of a session
There are no real turns. It's a continuous flow of reading, manipulating, discovering.
The story tells you what's happening and indicates which envelope to open or which action to take.
Take out, turn, join, overlap the puzzles. Look for hidden symbols, numbers, images. Every combination can be a clue.
A symbol refers to a paragraph, a number unlocks an envelope, an image suggests an action. Reason together.
Return to the booklet with the new information. Read the next paragraph. The story progresses. Repeat until the end.
⏱️Your first gameThe chronicle, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The disappearance
Read the opening in the booklet. Your companion has disappeared into the desert. The game tells you to open the first envelope. You take out the first pieces, you observe them. Someone notices a strange symbol on an edge.
The first fits
Try to fit two pieces together. They interlock. An arrow appears, pointing to a number. Return to the booklet, read the corresponding paragraph. The story opens in a new direction. Someone says: "So we need to find water."
The turning point
A new envelope. Inside, pieces with symbols you've never seen before. You combine them with those already on the table. A partial image forms, but more importantly, a crucial clue: your companion isn't just lost. There's something bigger.
Collective deduction
You have pieces scattered in front of you. Someone says "Flip that piece." You flip it. New face, new symbol. Someone else: "Try putting it on top of this one." You overlap them. The holes in one reveal hidden details of the other. "Aha" moment.
The finale
The last piece clicks into place. The final combination reveals the concluding paragraph. You read it. Your companion is found. Or maybe not. The chapter closes, but leaves bigger questions open. Someone asks: "Is there a sequel?"
🐸What to know beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼
What to know beforehand
Three things you need to know
Play it only once
It's a linear narrative adventure. Once you finish the chapter, you know the story. Replayability is zero. You can pass it on to another group who hasn't played it, but you won't have any surprises a second time.
It's a light introduction
Yohan Servais calls it the gateway to the Fragments line. Ninety minutes, one chapter, minimal complexity. If you're looking for a long campaign or a tough challenge, this isn't the right game. For that, there's Fungataï.
Language important for components
The puzzle pieces have symbols, but the adventure booklet has text. Without text in your language, the game doesn't work. Check the edition before buying (see FAQ).
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
There are no classic defeat conditions. You either solve the mystery or you give up.
Resolution
- You correctly manipulate the pieces and follow the clues to the final paragraph
- You discover what happened to your companion in the Solara desert
- You conclude the chapter with all the answers (or almost all)
Stuck or abandoned
- You can't decipher a symbol or combine the right pieces
- You get stuck without knowing which envelope to open
- You decide to abandon the game without finishing the story (technically you don't lose, but you don't win either)
Fragments: Solara is a gamble on a new idea: bringing escape room logic to physical components to manipulate. If it works, it will be a little gem.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Fragments: Solara
Is it suitable for those who have never played a tabletop escape room?
Yes. It's designed as an introduction to the Fragments line. Minimal rules, the booklet guides you step by step. If you've played Unlock! you'll know what to expect, but even those starting from scratch won't have problems. The difficulty is contained.
Can it be played solo or does it require a group?
It is officially played with 1 to 4 players. Solo play is supported without needing additional rules: you manipulate the puzzles alone and follow the story. It works well, but in a group, there's more exchange of ideas about symbols and deduction is more fun.
What mechanics does Fragments: Solara use?
The core of the game is the physical manipulation of puzzle pieces: you turn them, you join them, you overlap them. Each combination unlocks paragraphs in the booklet or new envelopes. It's a mix of deduction, cooperative storytelling, and narrative connections. No dice, no decks of cards.
How long does a game actually last?
IELLO states 90 minutes for this single chapter. Based on the first international previews, it seems realistic. About an hour and a half, more or less depending on how quickly you decipher the symbols. It's not a campaign: you finish in one session.
What language is this edition in?
This edition is in English. The adventure booklet contains text in English. The puzzle pieces have symbols and numbers, but to follow the story, you need to read English. Always check the language of the edition before purchase.
