The FroGames Card
You scan Stormy Lightning. The app responds: "The boss covers himself." You try with Sharp Blade. "Dodged." You look at the others: no one knows how to beat him yet. Then someone finds the right combo and the table explodes.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Ten bosses, infinite strategies. An app that doesn't wait for you.
Boss Fighters QR is a hybrid cooperative deck-building game designed by Michael Palm and Lukas Zach (authors of Kitchen Rush and Pierres). Published by Pegasus Spiele and Asmodee, it brings a Scan&Play mechanic to the table that transforms every game into a tactical battle against intelligent opponents: ten fantasy bosses, each with unique behaviors, abilities, and weaknesses that you only discover by playing.
Choose a hero (Jungle Troll, Hill Halfling, Copper Dwarf, or Wood Elf) and a class (Warrior, Mage, Thief, Druid). Build your deck, scan the cards with the app, and confront the bosses: the artificial intelligence reacts in real-time to your moves, forcing you to deduce tactics and weak points before you can defeat them. Win a boss battle, unlock secret loot boxes with powerful cards to upgrade your deck. Each battle can be played at four difficulty levels.
What they say abroad
"Dive into daring battles with 2 to 4 heroes as you face off against ten unique and intelligent boss monsters!"
— Pegasus Spiele
Boss Fighters QR is an initial assessment based on the stated mechanics. The game has just been released: this card will be updated as soon as we have feedback from the community and full reviews.

Your arsenal
What you bring to the field against the bosses
Hero + Class Decks
Every combination (Warrior Troll, Mage Elf...) offers a different initial card set. Basic attacks, racial abilities, class talents: the starting point is always unique.
Secret Loot Boxes
Defeat a boss, unlock a loot box. Inside are powerful cards to add to your deck: legendary weapons, advanced spells, items that change tactics.
Scan&Play
Every card has a QR code. You scan it, the app instantly recognizes it and activates the effect. The boss reacts immediately: counterattack, defense, special ability. All in real-time.
Intelligent Bosses
Ten unique opponents. At first, you know nothing: tactics, weaknesses, hidden abilities. You have to try them on the field, make mistakes, deduce. Only then do you find a way to beat them.

How to play
The flow of each round
Short turns, quick decisions, immediate reactions. The app sets the pace, you respond.
Each player chooses which cards to play this turn from their hand. Discuss openly: who attacks, who defends, who tries to deduce a weakness. No secrets: it's pure co-op.
In turn, each player scans the chosen cards with the device. The app instantly recognizes the card and activates its effect. Attack, defense, special ability: everything comes into play immediately.
After each card played, the app calculates the boss's reaction in real time: counterattack, dodge, absorb, special ability. Sometimes it punishes repeated choices, sometimes it reveals a weakness. You must interpret every response.
End of round: draw new cards, update conditions (your and the boss's health points, active effects). If the boss is still standing, you start over. If they fall, you unlock loot and choose the next opponent.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choice and hope
Everyone picks a hero and class, shuffles their starting deck. Someone reads the vague boss description ("creature of the mists", "lord of fire"). No one really knows what to expect. The app starts, the music begins. It's time to play.
The first slap
First turn: you play a strong attack, scanning the card with confidence. The app responds: "The boss absorbs the attack." Silence. You try another way: "Dodge." Someone else attempts magic: "Immune." You immediately realize: you're fumbling in the dark here.
Shared deduction
Someone notices a pattern: "When I use green cards, it doesn't react." You try it, it works. Another discovers that attacking twice in a row triggers a brutal punishment. You take mental notes, building a tactical map together. The boss begins to lose ground.
The perfect combo
Someone plays the right card at the right time. The app confirms: "Weakness exposed." The others understand, chaining moves. The boss loses health points rapidly. The table erupts in cheers. For thirty seconds, you feel invincible.
Loot and new challenge
Boss defeated. The app unlocks a loot box, showing the new cards on the table: someone gets a legendary weapon, someone else a devastating spell. You look at the list of remaining bosses. The next one seems even tougher. You start again immediately.
🐸Good to know beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼
Good to know beforehand
Three things you need to consider
App dependency
You cannot play without a compatible device and a working app. You need a connection for the initial download, a charged battery, and space on your phone or tablet. If the app crashes mid-game or support is dropped in a few years, the physical game becomes unusable.
Steep discovery curve
The first battles against a new boss are frustrating: wasted attempts, wasted cards, defeats. It's part of the design (you have to deduce tactics), but if the group seeks immediate gratification or hates losing, the experience can feel punishing in the first runs.
Limited depth for veterans
The deck building is accessible and fast, but it doesn't offer the strategic complexity of Aeon's End or Mage Knight. If you're an experienced player looking for deep optimization and intricate combos, you might find the system repetitive after the first few bosses.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Each boss has its own health points. So do you. Whoever reaches zero first loses.
Victory
- Reduce the boss's health points to zero before the group is eliminated
- Unlock a secret loot box with powerful cards to add to your decks
- You can face the next boss or replay the same one at a higher difficulty
Defeat
- All heroes are reduced to zero health points by the boss
- The event deck runs out before victory (if provided by the scenario)
- You can retry the battle with the same cards or modify your decks between attempts
Boss Fighters QR transforms deck building into a cooperative tactical puzzle where every victory is hard-earned and every defeat teaches you something. If you're looking for a digital hybrid that combines physical cards and artificial intelligence without losing the soul of the tabletop, this is the game for you.

FAQ about Boss Fighters QR
What mechanics does Boss Fighters QR use?
Cooperative deck building, hand management, tactical deduction, app-driven AI. Each scanned card triggers immediate reactions from the app-controlled boss. Campaign progression with loot boxes and four difficulty levels for each boss.
Do I need an internet connection to play?
Only for the initial app download. Once installed, you can play offline. You need a compatible device (smartphone or tablet) with a working camera to scan the QR codes on the cards.
Do bosses always behave the same way?
No. The app makes each boss react based on the cards you play: same boss, different moves = different reactions. Tactics and weaknesses remain consistent, but you have to discover them by playing. There are no spoilers in the manual.
Can it be played with fewer than four players?
Yes, it works perfectly with two or three. The app automatically scales the boss's difficulty based on the number of heroes. With two, it's more tactical and controlled; with four, it's more chaotic and unpredictable.
Is it available in Italian?
Yes, this is the Italian Asmodee edition. Cards, rulebook, and app are fully localized. No language barrier.
