You play as an acolyte in a temple, busy completing tasks, gathering materials, and completing works, using an ingenious system of multipurpose cards.

🐸 HOW TO PLAY
1. Each card is multifunctional: artifact, resource or action
In Mottainai , each card can be used in different ways: as a work of art to complete , as a resource to spend , or as an action to activate . Understanding how to use each card at the right time is the heart of the game.
2. Actions are activated for everyone, but those who choose them benefit most.
Each player takes a turn choosing an action (such as crafting, selling, or harvesting), but everyone else can copy it. However, whoever chooses it performs it with a boost , so timing is crucial.
3. Build structures with the right resources to gain special powers
To complete a work of art, you must collect and assign specific resources. Once completed, that card will grant you permanent abilities , points, and passive perks that enhance your gameplay.
4. Each area of your monastery has a role
You have five areas on your board: Temple, Gallery, Sales, Archive, and Workshop. The cards you place in these areas affect actions, points, or upgrades. Managing them well is essential to victory.
5. The winner is the one who achieves the best final score by optimizing every choice.
The game ends when a player has completed five works or runs out of cards. Points are tallied from works, sales, and remaining resources. Only those who have optimized every card without waste can triumph... as the spirit of Mottainai teaches.
